Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

We are celebrating Tolkien's birthday with steak and stout pies, mushy peas, mashed potatoes, and High Water Brewing Campfire Stout. (Not pictured: salad. We're from California, we have to eat salad.) Homemade apple handpies to follow. After dinner, I'll be reading "Leaf by Niggle" to Dawn, and she's been reading selections from "Letters from Father Christmas" to me. My lambsfoot was already on hand but if it wasn't I would've had to go get it - it just seems like the appropriate accessory for this.

So raise your glass to J.R.R., who showed us other worlds so we could see our own more clearly.

[The glass may say "Glenmorangie", but that's Johnnie Walker Double Black I'm drinking.]
Slaínte!

Is that picture and blurb you posted from the GEC website? Or somebody else's?
Good question
Yeah, it was from the GEC website.
Unfortunately, neither the first or last time a cutlery manufacturer/distributor has got the name of a pattern wrong, but they really ought to correct it

I have a Talisker glass like that Vince :D :)

Good morning Guardians, I hope the return to work wasn't too cruel for those who had to make it, and that the rest of the week goes well, it'll be the weekend soon ;) I am still marvelling at the coincidence of Charlie's Ancient Barlow being mentioned here twice in a week, several years after its manufacture. Those knives were outstanding, but I hope GEC will make him another Lambsfoot some day. I have my WCLF in ebony out to carry today, I have carried it before, but only a couple of times, kind of being overshadowed by its jigged bone brother, and by my other Lambsfoot knives. I haven't even taken a pic yet, so here's an old one, until I do ;) Have a good day Guardians

Good morning Guardians !

Snowstorm dumped another 10 inches overnight here. schools and a lot of businesses closed this morning. Just finished clearing my deck and shoveling the front. Thankfully that's about all I have to do. I live in a Townhouse and we have a service that shovels the sidewalks and plows the driveways. My deck is however quite big as it is over my two car garage. I bought an electric snowblower a couple of years ago as it was getting to much for me to shovel anymore.

Boxing Day was my last full day in Fuerteventura, and since Duane sitflyer sitflyer had expressed an interest in the lighthouse, I thought I'd go and take a few more photos. Also, I didn't want to leave without, at least, getting my feet wet in the Atlantic Ocean.

I left it until after lunch, when I knew the beach bar next to the lighthouse would be open, hopefully giving me somewhere to sit down, and take off my shoes and socks

I crossed the protected salt marsh on one of the two board-walks, spotting one of the ground squirrels, and also seeing the sign! Seems I shouldn't have been sharing my apple earlier in the week! I asked someone about this, back at the hotel, and it seems it's because the ground squirrels are not indigenous to the island, but crossed over from Morocco some years back. Apparently, they're due to get shot. I'm not sure what is happening with some of the avian species I photographed, which apparently, are only there because they were allowed to escape when the zoo closed down.

I reached the lighthouse, and the beach-bar, and found somewhere to take off my shoes and socks, before limping over the gravel to the beach :D

The beautiful blue Atlantic looked inviting, and I enjoyed getting my feet wet, even when the first wave soaked me! :D

I paddled along the shore until I was level with another bar, crossing over the beach to it, ordering a beer, and then drinking it while I enjoyed the views, and the sunshine :)

I liked the bar, where they gave me free tapas, and called me caballero, but I didn't want to have another beer, so I thanked them, and paid, and walked back across the boardwalk, which ran parallel to the one I had walked along previously.

I walked back past the old zoo. I'm not sure what happened with it, there is talk of someone running off with all the money, and also having an expected cash injection not coming due to Covid. Who knows, it's gone now, even if a few of its 'guests' have stayed behind.
