He was a good Oxford man. A toast....We are celebrating Tolkien's birthday with steak and stout pies, mushy peas, mashed potatoes, and High Water Brewing Campfire Stout. (Not pictured: salad. We're from California, we have to eat salad.) Homemade apple handpies to follow. After dinner, I'll be reading "Leaf by Niggle" to Dawn, and she's been reading selections from "Letters from Father Christmas" to me. My lambsfoot was already on hand but if it wasn't I would've had to go get it - it just seems like the appropriate accessory for this.
So raise your glass to J.R.R., who showed us other worlds so we could see our own more clearly.
