That WAS generousGenerous gift from @Modoc ED. Great knife.
I am imagine you're keeping warm shovelling snow, or just walking through it!Actually it's not too cold right now 32°F
Definitely a stark contrast indeed !![]()
I read several guides to the island before going, looked at numerous tourist sites, and watched multiple YT videos. Almost all mention the ground squirrels, and that they can be attracted with small morsels of food. Nowhere did I see anything about not feeding them, or that they were about to be shot! So, Jack, did you feed a squirrel . . . or were you a good boy? My wife is one of those people who can never resist feeding animals.
I enjoyed it very much BillLooks like you had a very nice time. Must have been very relaxing.
Took another photo of my Christmas present before opening. Unusual twist-off cork cap. Had to be careful I did not break it! HHB will help me break the seal.

In my opinion, it is just that Bob, a Lambsfoot that has had a damaged tip, and been re-profiled. I guess the original owner, relying on hand tools, didn't feel a need to completely restore it. A shame about the damage, but an Ibberson is a nice findMy intention is not to taint the lamb forum. This Ibberson seems to have the lines of a lamb but the tip is altered. Any knowledgeable ideas would be welcome.
Will delete if wrong. ThanksView attachment 2035309View attachment 2035323
I'd be having those pies once a week Tyson, at least!I must confess that the steak and stout pies were not homemade - we got them from Trader Joe's (and they're quite good). I love mushy peas, so I'm always happy to have those.
Thanks Jack for your imput. That WAS generous![]()

Nowhere did I see anything about not feeding them, or that they were about to be shot!I even bought a packet of posh nuts and seeds from Charlie's cafe, to take with me, but when I first came across them, (before I saw the sign), I just had an apple, so I gave them that!
Nobody said anything

I quite like those twist off corks, but they are easily broken if you don't expect them!
I hope you enjoy it Bill

That term covers a lot of ground here!Thank you Harvey...that seems to be the consensus. I found it in England and the gentleman called it a penknife.

I like the absence of snow....flop flops are my speed. Thanks Bob. Wasn’t clear what you meant by “prefer not to wear them.”
It was a question of 'needs must' Jeff!Good choice, Jack, apples are a "can't miss" for critters.
I learned last night about a local incident, which is straight out of a movie! My mate was telling me he went to get a few things from a local supermarket on Xmas Eve, but when he got there it was deserted, apart from a load of cops, some of whom had guns! He decided to go for a pint in the pub next door, and find out what had happened, but nobody had even noticed anything. It took him a few days to find out, and it turned out two n'er do wells had gone into the supermarket, blatantly stealing a load of stuff, and then attempting to walk out with it. When the security guard challenged them, they produced an AIR RIFLE, and threatened him! He wasn't having any of it, and grabbed hold of the barrel, to take it off them. The scumbags managed to hang onto the air rifle, but drop everything else, and depart. They then decide to go for a drink - in the pub next door! The cops still haven't shown up, so they have a few pints, and then decide to give the supermarket another go! The security guard won't let them in again, so they shoot him with the air rifle, which they've forgotten to put a pellet in! At this point the cops finally appear, and the two scumbags are taken into custody! And nobody in the pub noticed
My pal has just spoken to the security guard, and he confirmed the details, but said he'd still not heard anything about it from his bosses

Hope your wife and everyone is doing better. A splendid sharing of your journey.Hello Guardians!
Happy New Year to you all and hope the holiday break gave all you a renewed (and positive) outlook!
I've been a little quiet on my end due to little things like work, travel, and family time lol.
Jack Black ,
Thank you for your sharing your travel adventure! It was a piece of mental serenity for me to see your pictures and enjoy the holidays, albeit wasn't easy with the horrible WIFI speeds where I was staying lol.
My travel to Germany this year was less than stellar, with my wife contracting COVID during the first week of our travels and quarantining through the New Year! Poor soul traveled 5000+ miles to be close to her family, only to be quarantined!!!
Luckily, with the 'cheaper' rapid tests available, myself and my kids were able to test daily before going out to enjoy the holiday festivities...AND, still negative with no symptoms!

And of course...drinks...
![]()
![]()
Traditional Glühwein (They normally produce cups for each year but coming out of Covid, they didn't have one for this year available for me to buy!)
![]()
And...more drinks! Didn't think I'd be drinking a Bourbon in Germany!
![]()
Beer is practically cheaper than water there...those are prices for 20 - 0.5L bottles!
![]()
Of course, can't forget the fireworks for the New Year!

Finally, a few light passes and ready again!
