Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Work on my entry into the Guardians progresses. I’m not aiming for a real work-in-progress masterpiece, just an occasional update.
A nerve wracking few minutes epoxying walnut scales to the liners... View attachment 973813Interestingly, Taylor does not pin the spring through the bolster pin.

Great to see how things are going Jeff, that's weird about the spring  Can't wait to see more of your Lambsfoot

As I think I said earlier, today is what is called a Bank Holiday Monday here in England (I'm self-employed so it just kind of messes my week up!): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_holiday The weather is slightly better than yesterday, but it's not exactly Mardi Gras weather  With tens of thousands of people flooding into the area for Leeds West Indian Carnival, most of the major roads closed (and the rest of them grid-locked), and pretty miserable weather, I may well be stuck in the house all day. Today and tomorrow, Leeds city centre will also be taken over by thousands of mud-caked hungover teenagers, returning from the large music festival which also takes place in Leeds this weekend. Last year, I was gardening, lost track of time, and missed the carnival completely - can't say I missed it much really, getting old I guess - My back certainly isn't in a state to be dancing Calypsos and Sambas! :D Definitely a lot better than it was a few days ago, thanks for all your support and helpful advice folks. Hope everyone has a good week :)

Lambsfoot today

Yikes! Hope you'll be OK soon Ron, I'm afraid I don't know enough about it to try and offer any advice :( Beautiful shot of your Lambsfoot

Thank you, Jack. Whenever I am stuck in town, reading some Muir is a good substitute for calming my mind.

:)

Ouch!! Never had it - how long does it take to clear up something like that???
Hope it goes away soon, Ron!!
Stag is good for what ails ya!!!:D

Good afternoon, Guardians.

Woke up to a cloudy sky and some dampness in the air this morning. Fall is beginning to arrive and I couldn't be happier.

I have to agree with you Dylan, fall time is the best  I don't know how you get your photos to come out with such a vibrant black, it sure is striking

Cheers Dave, how was that? I used to drink a lot of brown ale when I was young, but it's a style that has been in decline for years. Seems to be making something of a comeback though :)

I have always liked the seasons between winter and summer best, but here they seem to be disappearing :( This year for example, we had virtually no spring at all, we had snow at Easter followed by a long hot summer  Hope that's not going to be the way of things :(

Jack, I would say its one of the leading sellers in this area, its either IPA's or red/brown ale's The Big Rock Brewery is in Calgary, so locally Banff, Canmore, Cochrane, and Calgary folks like to support the home team. I would say, this would be my first pick of any beer.

Funny how things change all the way from pioneer days till let's say the 90's it was only Lagers/Pilsners in the West. some folks in eastern Canada drank a light Ale. But now the millennials are mostly drinking IPA

Thanks for the info Dave, things certainly change all the time. Over here, Porter and Mild are styles which were once popular, Bitter is still a staple, but a lot of youngsters don't even know what it is. ABVs have gone up along with prices, and the youngsters are drinking sour beers, along with the ubiquitous IPAs. Lagers/Pilsners became fashionable here with youngsters in the late 1970's and have had a good run, despite their overall low quality, but many folks who drank them have now moved onto blonde ales or other beers. When I taught English years ago in France, I took some pride in the fact that if you walked into an English pub, all you needed was one word - "Pint"! - and that would get you a pint of bitter (ale). Now, it's a whole different story

Thanks for the well wishes Charlie! I think the time to clear up depends on the size of the area affected and the amount of contact with the culprit plant! You are correct my friend, Stag is good for what ails ya!:)

I have only seen that movie once, and suffice it to say that I found it rather disturbing. The banjo/guitar duel is good, though.

I suspect that's true of a lot of people, it's a disturbing film. The 'Dueling Banjos' or 'Feudin' Banjos' instrumental actually goes back to the 1950's, but having been made famous by the film, google searches inevitably bring up that iconic clip

After our three-day weekend, for me, the week is starting today on Tuesday, something I really dislike. I think I'll have a double Lambsfoot day ;) :thumbsp:
