Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Ha ha!! Bruno's not so dumb if he can slip the ham out of a "sammich"!!
:D

Too dumb to swallow the evidence! :D I wish I had a photo of that dog, you really had to shake your head, no wonder he spent years chasing rags thinking it was a rabbit! :D

My sister and brother-in-law, Peter, adopted a former racing greyhound, they named Bruno. Bruno was the size of a small pony, and the dumbest-looking dog I've ever seen! :D One day, Peter was making himself a ham sandwich. He spread on some mustard, and went to put the jar back in the fridge. When he bit into the sandwich, all he could taste was mustard. Bruno was stood there, looking as daft as ever, with the ham hanging limply out of the side of his mouth! :D
haha, Bruno's the Man! oh, I mean Dog.:p

Thanks, Gary, they are both VERY sweet!
I can believe that, Jeff!:thumbsup:

Thanks a lot my friend :)

I'm afraid there's a lot of that here these days. About 12 years ago, I broke a tendon in my left hand. Rang the doctor's told them one of my fingers was sticking up in the air, and that I thought I might have a broken tendon. Doc said it was a broken tendon and I should go to the hospital. Reported to the hospital, they told me it definitely wasn't a broken tendon, and I should come back in 2 weeks. Two weeks later, I went to the hospital and they told me there'd been a terrible mistake. Since then, despite an operation, I haven't been able to completely close my left hand. But I do have a scar folks sometimes comment on here!

You've really captured the colours in the horn of your Lam Jack GT :)
As I'm currently trying to get my Medicare accounts set up, I'm finding these health care horror stories less than comforting!:thumbsdown:
Thanks for the comment on my pic of the Lam Jack, Jack. :) That photo (from back in January) is also one that convinced me that I wasn't just imagining some horn shrinkage at the time, since I thought I could see the ends of the pins standing proud of the horn surface. :( This summer, I think the situation has improved, possibly just due to increased humidity at this time of year.:cool:

Thanks GT! I love this old barn chestnut. One day I hope to get a clip 15 stainless in the same cover for less than extortionary prices.
Sounds like an admirable plan, Joshua (although the price part may be an impossible dream).:cool:

Thank you, Sir, I was disappointed at first with the red horn, :( as it seems most have the dark horn. I kinda like it now, that I got over the red-headed stepchild syndrome :D The geode is a fairly large showing of Amethyst which comes from Ontario.
Thanks for the follow-up info, Dave. :)

Thanks. I hadn't noticed that and I'm looking through some older pictures to see if it isn't just a trick of the light. I don't think I've ever seen any really old stag handled knives with such light areas, so I guess it will continue to darken. Cool!:thumbsup:
What did your photo analysis reveal? Sure looks to me like you're getting some orange encroaching on the white area as time goes by!:thumbsup:

Enjoy the weekend Guardians!
Great pic of your "dog's head" ebony lambsfoot, Leslie!:cool:;)

Thanks a lot Rob, it is still hurting, but definitely a lot better today - first time I've been able to cook properly all week :) Great to see your horn '18 out and about my friend :)

Happy to read that you're feeling a bit better, Jack; I hope the back steadily improves!:thumbsup::)
I'm obligated to mention at least one food post in this thread. :D That's some primo pasta you've posted with your salutary sauce & stag!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Good afternoon Guardians!

Joshua, I probably read something about this and it just didn't register with me, but this photo was the first time it really hit me that your lambsfoot doesn't have a nail nick on the mark side!!:rolleyes: With the EO notch, you always pinch the blade open, or are you a lefty who had a nail nick installed on pile side during the mod of the Navy Knife?? (Do GEC Navy Knives even have a nick?)

Morning folks, hope everyone is having a great weekend :) We have a Bank Holiday Weekend here, so basically two Sundays in a row, this being the first ;) Probably not particularly peaceful round my way though, since Europe's oldest Caribbean carnival takes place just down the road from where I live. Last year was the 50th anniversary :)

Interesting pic of your Lambsfoot there Joshua

I'm pocketing my wee staggy again today :) Enjoy your Sunday Guardians

Wow, that costume suggests some new ways to carry multiple knives!!:cool::thumbsup::D

Good Morning to you. :D Its beginning to look a lot like Harvest Time. :)

What kind of hens lay those cool crimson eggs, Dave??:p

Yes indeed, a great time to be out in the woods :)

I don't think I've posted this pic before, but this was our grape harvest in July. This was the first year the grapes were ripe before we left town for our vacation. In previous year's we just encouraged our neighbors across the alley to harvest as many as they wanted (and we would get a jar or two of grape preserves of some kind out of the deal :)).

I'm starting to look forward to Winter, though I don't like Winter. At least they'll have to stop blocking and chopping up every road I want to drive on.

I can certainly sympathize with your construction complaints, Jer; this summer has been one of the worst for that in my city!:( (I suppose it's a sign of an improving economy, though.)

That is a gorgeous photo of your Guardians knives; Old Toffeewings never looked so glamorous!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Good eye, GT. The nail nick on the Navy knife didn’t survive the mod into a lambsfoot, so the EO notch is a must-have. It is a little bit of a stiff pull, but manageable.

I’m pretty excited right now, too because Andrew listed another modded Navy knife that I bought. It is pictured in this thread I think: natural micarta with no bail. Soon I’ll have Navy lambsfoot twins!

Sorry pal! :D If you seeing some climatic shrinkage, definitely check out the horn care posts in the index GT, but it is reversible

Thanks a lot my friend, I have to make a midweek trip to Sheffield, so I hope it's going to be OK for then :) Some friends brought me the garlic and basil linguine back from Italy, I just gave it a few minutes on a rolling boil with a little olive oil added, it tasted pretty good :)

LOL :D The carnival parade is tomorrow, and if the weather is anything like today, there's going to be a lot of carnival dancers catching colds and flus!

That's cool GT :) Here, I've also noticed that everything is a few weeks ahead, I saw my first conkers a few weeks back now, more than a month ahead of schedule! There are loads of horse chestnut trees on my street, I wish they were sweet chestnuts rather than conkers o_O

Inconclusive. I can see color in the same areas, but they seem much lighter in the older pics. I can't vouch for the color accuracy using my cell phone camera in different light. I'll just have to pay attention to the stag as it ages. :)

Speaking of food...after our discussion some weeks back about how hamburgers are made of beef, not ham, I had to think of Jack Black Jack Black today when I went to a new sandwich place and ordered a "porkburger." Ground pork, pimento cheese, and cole slaw. I'm afraid I'll be feeling it for a while.

I'm still reeling from that revelation Rachel! :D Sounds like you might be reeling a bit from that lunch too! ;) :D

Work on my entry into the Guardians progresses. I’m not aiming for a real work-in-progress masterpiece, just an occasional update.
A nerve wracking few minutes epoxying walnut scales to the liners... View attachment 973813Interestingly, Taylor does not pin the spring through the bolster pin.

Brain fart! Nobody else pins the spring at the bolster/ hinge end either. If they did, the spring would not work. Duh.
