Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Mate with the Cutlery industry in decline, kids don't want to make a career in the industry, which i can understand, having skilled cutlers on the production line is nearly a thing of the past. I don't want some unskilled kid filling in time till a better job offer comes along trying to grind a bevel then trying to correct his mistakes. Then all you have is a completely buggered bevel. Once metal is removed it can't be put back. Just get an even bevel and let the buyer get it sharp. Not good enough, i fully accept this, but it is better than the other option.
Dead right Leon  I got Wright's to make me a sample for another Hartshead Barlow run. Good job I didn't just commission another hundred! This was the edge (and I needed pliers to open the blade)! 🤬

Got lucky with the house. Good place to raise a family. Now if I can convince the wife 😆 🤣 😂.

Not too long before the family joins you, is it? I figure you’ve got a whole summer of (hopefully) lovely weather to convince the wife. After that…

😉🤣

GEC knives haven't always come with great factory edges, in my opinion, but Charlie's SFOs seem to have always had extra attention, and both Charlie and GEC knocked it out of the park with the Waynorth Lambsfoot  While I believe that all knives should come with a sharp factory edge, for me it's the least important fit and finish issue, since, unlike many of the other elements of a knife, a less than stellar edge is something I can put right myself, assuming that the steel is decent, and correctly heat-treated, and that the edge has been evenly ground. I have to say that I have been extremely impressed by the edge which my Eric Albers Lambsfoot came with

GEC factory edges have never been great, but I’ve always appreciated that they tend to under-do it. That and their general thinness behind the edge makes it easy (in my opinion, at least) to put your own edge on their knives. I’m far from an expert sharpener, but I never really worry about being able to get my GEC knives nice and sharp (at least by my own standards). I’ve had a bit of trouble with a couple Wright’s knives, sometimes due to uneven grinds, or the plunge transition from tang to main grind. Eric’s factory edges are nice. I do wish he’d grind his blades a little bit thinner behind the edge, but that’s just personal preference.

We were joined today by 80-year old original Ted, Billy, who I don't think I've seen since before the pandemic. He certainly doesn't act his age! :D

Well he must be doing something right. 🙂

That's interesting Barrett, kind of weird, but maybe there is an element of opinion there. Even so, it can be surprising how much a change of brewery, let alone country, can change the nature of a beer. When I was younger, one of the great, iconic Sheffield beers was brewed by Ward's, with a strong malty character. When Ward's was taken over, and subsequently closed, the 'Ward's' beer brewed in the North East was quite different. Similarly, when Leeds own Tetley Bitter was moved to the English Midlands, it was transformed into an entirely different beer. In both cases, the beers subsequently brewed were very much inferior, with their popularity being drastically affected.

Yeah, the way that was worded in Wikipedia (“Newcastle Brown Ale is no longer sold in the US”) seems a bit dramatic. 🙄 🤣

This is similar to my own opinion Barrett, though it could be that I am more used to the Wright-made models

Yep, Wright’s were the only Lambsfoot knives I had for a while (up until the Charlie Lamb came out), and they still make up the majority of my Lambsfoot collection.

Good evening Guardians, I hope everyone is having a good day :) I only got about 4 hours sleep last night, so am pretty tired, after a good day at the market. Tool Man had 3 sandwiches, and some cake, before lunchtime, and then got himself a bacon, Spam, sausage, egg, and mushroom sandwich - even he was struggling a bit!:D

That’s quite a sandwich! 😳 There’s a fast food chain here in the US (I don’t know if they have any international locations) called Arby’s that specializes in roast beef sandwiches. For a while they had a sandwich called the Meat Mountain, which contained every type of meat they had. I think it might’ve been right up Tool Man’s alley.

I doubt anyone believes a word of this statement, (which has positioned close to numerous empty stalls), least of all those who commissioned the sign :( As they prepare to permanently remove three quarters of the stalls in the outdoor market, this kind of dishonest marketing really rubs salt into the wound :(

Sometimes the hypocrisy is so blatant it’s astonishing. 🙄

Sounds to me very much like another monstrosity of bland apartments going up.   :(.

Jack Black Jack Black Speaking of Markets, just returned from my local market after doing my Friday morning shopping. Bought some Gummy Shark that you were enquiring about.   Will post some photos of it later. 😁

Thanks David, I had just about given up looking, when I came across my crown! Rather stupidly, instead of putting it in a small bowl or glass, or something, like I usually do, I had just put it on the kitchen counter. I probably thought it was hard to miss there, but then, since my memory is so bad, I moved a few things around this morning, then I came home, and put some of the things from my pockets there. The crown is tiny, so no wonder I had missed it, and I had no memory of where I had put it  I'm glad I found it anyway! :D That a great pic of your Axe Lamb, and I like your Sheffield map, I have the same one, as does Charlie I think :)
Thank you Jack! 🤠 Sure glad you found your crown.
Love the covers on your Axe.
Thank you Leon!🤠
