I posted this thread some years ago. Like many of the old threads here, it has effectively been destroyed, the text mangled, the photos obliterated*. I thought I'd re-post the photos, I hope they're of interest. If you have an old Sheffield knife, you may come across the place where it was made...

I love this thread on the Pics resurrected of Sheffield Factories and Workshops!.

Jack - I wonder at times, if you know just how much value you have stored and helped the rest of the World understand and get to know Sheffield that little bit, yes there are other historians- but I certainly think that you have contributed marvelously - even through the resurrection of one knife pattern the now very well known Lambsfoot because of you, through this alone there was a peephole into the makings and history in Sheffield of this Knife and the Cutlers.

Great pic David :) I've heard the management at Wright's, many times, defend routine cosmetic defects and fit and finish issues, by saying they make working knives. Yet many of those sold aren't actually capable of working! Easiest thing to fix, but not all their customers will know how to sharpen a knife, let alone re-profile one :rolleyes: :thumbsup:

Good morning Guardians, how's everyone doing? I hope you're all having a pleasant weekend :) I enjoyed my trip out last night, and I won't be doing much today, apart from a bit of housework and tidying up, and no doubt, some lazing and lollygagging ;) I'm going down to my friend Matt's (the other Matt!) tonight. His missus has gone to Dublin for a long weekend with her pals, so Matt has had the kids, and is probably yearning for some adult company! :D We're going to watch a movie, order a curry, and drink some beers :) Inspired by Dwight's photo, I'm carrying my SamDamLamb today :cool: Unfortunately, I don't have Dwight's photography skills! :D Have a great Sunday Guardians :thumbsup:
