I believe I got it in 2018. Ashley's Choice. Jack had ordered 25 as a SFO, if I recall, and 28 were made. I got one of the last three. My first lambsfoot. My favourite lambsfoot blade, even though it's on the small side. Stout pull and very sharp. This one bit me! Gorgeous stag on each side.Is that a new addition, ??? or my memory is going/gone. But is some beautiful Sambar.![]()

Thank you DanielKevin @seas165 very thoughtfully sent me a lovely Joseph Elliot Sheldon Lambsfoot. The kind gift was a surprise, so I was only aware of this last night, and subsequently learned that a thief had intercepted the package. I can't say too much on an open forum, but I have been up all night, and busy all day, trying to get to the bottom of the matter. It's really saddened me that such a generous gesture should have been affected by such a low move

I don't like the odds!Very sorry to hear somebody stole such a nice gift from your mail
As the past is in the past, I suppose all we can hope is that this thief will fall in love with the versatility and usefulness of a pocket knife with such a fine blade shape. Perhaps they’ll like it so much, they will go down a path of discovery, eventually getting into the hobby and discovering this thread. Then maybe, by some slim chance, they’ll somehow realize who their stolen knife was originally intended for and make amends.
It’s not entirely impossible![]()
The terminology is " Name Your Own Price ".I don't like the odds!
I had noticed a homeless guy, sleeping in what I had thought was a shop doorway, the previous night, and had some sandwiches for him. While paying my bill, I asked the cafe owner if she knew which doorway it was, and she told me the building was actually a church. She kindly made me a cup of tea to take to him too. Having delivered breakfast, I walked down the hill, in the rain.
There are numerous boat trips out from Whitby, everything from a short trip around the bay, to a full day's sea-fishing. I usually go out at least once, but weather cancelled the boat trips, this incoming 'pirate ship' must have been one of the last, if indeed it was taking passengers, and not simply moving to a more sheltered spot further up the River Esk.

What do you reckon Barrett?!![]()

If only I had had one of the latest British super cars to take me up the hill

So I thought I'd go to the pub instead, and what better pub than The Black Horse?!
![]()
![]()
I have had so many great times in this pub, and it never fails to disappoint. The beers are always excellent, the bar staff friendly, the clientele a pleasure to drink with, and it was warm, and dry, and I was out of ear-shot of Tool Man's BS!![]()

Obviously, I was not actually able to get to the Steam Fair at Whitby. The traction engines arrive on huge trailers, and most were turned away at the gate, as early as Wednesday, and then the event itself was formally cancelled, on Saturday I think. I know that a few of you were looking forward to seeing some steam engines, so here's a few pics from previous events (terrible internet connection unfortunately - might be the sun!![]()

The old Yorkshire stone flag-stones are treacherous in the wet though, and there was a river running down them today

I would love to know! There's gotta be some backstory here.
"Window of Interest Only" forced a grin out of me.
If it's not a shop, what is it?
Nice to see your AC Vince
Very cool MitchJb Lamb & another fancy 1, Maori whakairo style with paua/abalone shell eyes. Don't know what the wood is, had it near 20 years.

Me neither!I don't like the odds!
Thanks BarrettMore great pics from your weekend, Jack. Thanks again for sharing.
That’s kind of you.![]()
Yeah, trying to earn a few quid on the side!Is that Johnny Depp?![]()
You're very adventurous!I’ve tried a deep fried Snickers before. I’m not sure about some of those, but there are a couple I’d be curious to try. A deep fried Bounty doesn’t sound too bad.A deep fried Cadbury Creme Egg, on the other hand, sounds dangerous. Those things are messy enough when the filling isn’t molten!
![]()
I reckon so mate!Jack, I think there are some of us who just aren’t meant to fit in those kinds of cars.I do like the door hinges that look like they came off a door in someone’s house.
Chilli rice crackers (I had to look that up, as I couldn't remember!)Looks like a great pub! What’s the snack in the bowl next to your beer there?
Thanks mate, me tooSome cool machines there, Jack. Sorry you missed out on it this time. I really like the TARMAC one.![]()
I think there's quite a few such events, but the really big one is in Dorset , though it seems they're having a break this year. In view of the weather we've had that has probably turned out to be a wise decisionI’ve probably mentioned this before, but when we were driving down to the coast during our first visit to England, we got stuck in a bit of traffic from folks going to a steam fair, somewhere between Salisbury and Durdle Door (seemed like it was really out in the middle of nowhere). We didn’t stop, but we could see a some of the old machines like those from the road.
Try walking down those while eating a deep fried Cadbury egg!![]()
Dwight, I showed that pic of your Scout to my Scout and she thought it was great!![]()
Thanks JackCool vintage IXL David![]()
I would love to know!If it's not a shop, why make it look like a shop?!
The rents aren't cheap there either, gotta be some eccentric old gal/guy who owns the place?
Here it is 10 years ago

Very cool Mitch![]()
That looks like one heck of a job Daniel! When I first left school, I was an apprentice mechanic for Sheffield City Council, and I don't think most of their waggons had ever been cleaned!
![]()
Thanks buddyI'll be telling my market trader friends to keep an eye out for it

Me neither!![]()
Thanks Barrett![]()
Yeah, trying to earn a few quid on the side! They just strap him to a plank, and give him his rum ration!

I reckon so mate!I hadn't noticed the door hinges before!
It may be small, but it looks like you could wear a top hat inside!

Chilli rice crackers (I had to look that up, as I couldn't remember!)Pretty tasty with a beer

Good morning Guardians, nearly the end of the weekIt's still warm and humid here, and I got up early to try and make a dent in the jobs I have piled up. I need to go into town this morning though, so I'll definitely be calling in at Charlie's for a coffee
Have a good day Guardians

I'm sure you're not Mitch, they put up with my ramblings! Thanks Jack
I hope I'm not boring everyone.
He's very welcome to post a photo of his Lambsfoot here, and become oneQuick question to you all.
Is Chris Stapleton a guardian of the Lambsfoot????
Could be Barrett, supposed to be a pretty good event, Meako has even been to it!Interesting. I wonder if that’s what we drove by? Would certainly explain the traffic, and I think we must have been in Dorset (Durdle Door is on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset), and it was near the end of August.
Thanks JackI'm sure you're not Mitch, they put up with my ramblings!![]()

I've had to make a change of plans, took me 2 hours to fill out some customs forms, and get a package ready for sending, and then I heard I had a package arriving today. In view of recent events, I better stay in. I'll go grind some beans!
Here's one for youmitch13 , from 1847

Thanks Mitch, it's light as a featherThanks Jack
That is cool![]()
They are a modern plagueI don't think it is such a regular crime here yet, as in the US, but the thieves are catching up
That's a novel solution!
I have seen some good ones on YT

Thank you Sid, that's terrible!Porch Pirates are a real scourge in a lot of the USA.
Mail and Package theft is so bad where I live, the Post Office no longer delivers mail to my residence. I also had my mailbox exploded which involved Federal authorities other than the post office since explosives are a federal criminal offense separate from mail theft.
Sorry to hear your gift was stolen. Unfortunately, I know the feeling too! Mom and my sisters sent gift cards for Christmas one year and were upset I didn't thank them. I was a little miffed I didn't even get a Christmas card.![]()
That's another reason I've used a P.O.box for packages for years. I live too close to a bus stop, with pedestrians walking in view of my porch. Now I read about professional porch pirates in cars just following the delivery trucks through neighborhoods.![]()
