Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

They aren't usually. Its not unusual to see them around here, especially in the river bottom at night, but I never heard of one attacking a human. The neighbors did get the elderly yellow lab tore up by them one night, but other than that they eat mice and rabbits and mostly mind their own business. Hear them yipping at the moon some nights.
Coyotes in the USA and Europe are different. Generally, only coyotes in the later stages of Rabies will attack a human in the USA. The same is true of Bobcats and Mountain Lions too, though drought is putting some pressure on them to seek alternate prey.

Coyotes in Europe apparently developed a taste for humans due to body disposal practices after death and the dead left on battlefields. Don't know if that is the true cause for the behavior difference or not but, that's what I learned in one of my college classes.

Obviously, I was not actually able to get to the Steam Fair at Whitby. The traction engines arrive on huge trailers, and most were turned away at the gate, as early as Wednesday, and then the event itself was formally cancelled, on Saturday I think. I know that a few of you were looking forward to seeing some steam engines, so here's a few pics from previous events (terrible internet connection unfortunately - might be the sun! :D)

Really nice pictures. I'm going to the Western Minnesota Thresherman Show Labor Day weekend. They have stationary steam engines, tractors, and construction shovels at that show. I really enjoy it!

Last year, the Rumely Oil Pull tractors were the feature event! Big fan of them!

wonderful knife there my friend - wow!

👍👍👍Beautiful Bone. 💯

Thanks fellas !

I'm sure you're not Mitch, they put up with my ramblings! :D

He's very welcome to post a photo of his Lambsfoot here, and become one :D

Could be Barrett, supposed to be a pretty good event, Meako has even been to it!

I've had to make a change of plans, took me 2 hours to fill out some customs forms, and get a package ready for sending, and then I heard I had a package arriving today. In view of recent events, I better stay in. I'll go grind some beans! ;)

Here's one for you @mitch13 , from 1847 :)

Great pics and cool old walking stick ! Do you know what kind of wood that is ?

Whitby looks like a fun place.
I guess I'll make my comment about Tool Man. I hope he isn't ailing and becoming acquainted with new limitations.

Thinking it can't make it happen, or how many times would I have won Publishers Clearing House by now?
[Imgur is having one of its days. Lucky I saved this elsewhere because of its number (my childhood address).]

Good morning Guardians. Hope to all are going to have a great weekend. I started things off well with my morning stroll around the lake and ran into a few friends. One of which just turned 100. Good for her!:D I can only hope I make it to that age and look as good as she does.

Sounds like you live in a similar area to me in rural East Texas, though no bus stops near me! Mainly just a good smattering of drug abusers living "out in the country where they can do what they want to!". I have two animal hoarders near me as well where the 4 surrounding counties' animal welfare officers and the local city animal control came out and did an intervention on the one that moved in from Dallas (after being evicted from her house); when I went by they had already hauled off over 200 dogs. I have lost all my Geese and over 300 chickens to the dogs from the other place; last year killing 67 of them which helped cut my losses. I also have been attacked 3 times by dogs on my property and my friend asks why I have a rifle propped up against a tractor tire or something similar depending on where I am working.

COVID lockdowns have brought out a lot of people from big cities so, in my humble opinion things have really changed from being a nice quiet restful place to, a place where marijuana smoke wafts across my property and obnoxious music bothers me from the house a 1/2 mile away as the crow flies, even inside my house with AC running in the window unit! I am hopeful things will get better over time but, drug use and thievery are hard to stop. At least public law is clear on livestock attacks on private property but, that really is a last resort and is not something that promotes a nice quality rural farm life.
Blimey Sid, I hope things get better for you! 😱👍
I thought that was a really informative guide Jer 😎 I don't know if I should try making a Market Stick, or stick with the one I have! 🤣👍

Thanks Steve, I'm afraid I don't know :(

It definitely can be Jer, though I preferred it when it was a relatively quiet fishing port, before the Goths descended en masse 🧛‍♂️🧛‍♀️ They take up a lot of space these days! 🤣

Brings money into the town (2 Goth festivals a year), but has definitely changed it's character

When he first started acting oddly, my first thought, (ignoring the obvious), was that he might be worried about his health in some way, or that of a family member. I did put this to him, when we eventually met up in the pub, and offered it as a 'Get out of jail free card', which might save him getting a thump, but he insisted not. I actually think he was stressed, but simply worried about losing money at the steam event  See tonight's instalment: High Noon in The Pier Inn ;)
Everybody's probably tired of seeing it, but it's the only Lamb I've got...

(I'm not tired of carrying it.)
Definitely not! :) Perfect Black Friday knife! ;)

The fact I have waited in all day, with my windows open, so it's obvious, didn't stop another courier sneaking up to the house, and leaving another package on my door-step. Fortunately my neighbour spotted it  Still waiting in for Charlie's package

I have a lot of Charlie Chaplin length canes, a couple that I made; and a few hiking staff length, and a couple in between. I'm thinking I need an armpit- high lyre fork stick, and I'd like to pull out all the stops and buy the proper hardware.
I'm seeing more geezers leaning on long sticks in town than I used to, which would vary the strain on the shoulder, and allow poking coyotes' eyes out from a greater distance.

It's a shame about the goths. I associate them with the 80s and I'm surprised they're not extinct. Too bad thinking it doesn't make it happen. 😁

Thanks Jack.
Jer oughtta change his handle back, huh, Dwight?
Yes he most definitely should.
Beautiful looking pooch.
Thanks Leon. I'll pass the word. :)
Sambar stag. Love this stuff
Gorgeous Vince.
Dwight you must have a barn full of huge lambs. What breed are they? Sheffield Humongous.
😁
Dwight, I showed that pic of your Scout to my Scout and she thought it was great!
Aww...... I'd like to have seen that! 😊

Happy Friday Guardians !

Cool pic Steve :)

I decided to go sit outside, and read my book, being as the sun wouldn't let me see the computer screen, but just as I got outside, I saw the delivery van further down the street. Then, it drove off in the opposite direction, so I had to give chase! That firm are notorious for not delivering packages, and claiming the recipient wasn't in  I chased hiom down though, and received a generous gift from Charlie waynorth waynorth :)

Headed up to the post office now, and I think I'm going to have my tea in the pub! ;)

I remember being given a thumb-stick, with stag, by a cutler I used to know, but I'm not sure what happened to it. For a simple stick, even the wooden ones are surprisingly expensive to buy

They live forever Jer! 🤣 I have to say, I never guessed that they'd last so long. I can remember seeing my first Goth in a Sheffield pub, and asking my mate Russ about it...
Jack: What's up with that lass, she looks like she's dead?!
Russ: She's a Goth.
Jack: What's that?
Russ: They sing songs about plague, and dying, and that.
Jack: Hmm...Can't see that lasting long.
Who'd a thunk it! :D

Cool pic Jer
Hello All,

It’s been a good work conference this week and I’m packed up and ready to fly home. Feels strange with no pocket cutlery. Here are some pictures from the trip. Looking forward to home.

Looks like a good trip Pete :) That High Water Line is impressive/scary! Safe travels back home my friend :)

Blimey Sid, I hope things get better for you! 😱👍

Things have gotten a little better when one of the "meth heads" was evicted from the rent house he was in about 500 yards away from the corner of my property and came back and burned it to the ground! At least no new druggies can move in now. He went back to prison on a parole violation and died there.

That certainly helped a bit but, the flop house from the church couple still attracts marijuana smokers and their rowdy parties. Now, if we could just do something about the animal hoarders and package thieves. With the cost of gas up significantly around here along with the cost of groceries, I'm a bit concerned things are going to get worse locally in the near future.

On a more positive note, I'm watching the Albers Cutlery website and looking for an email from them. I hope I can score one in a pretty wood in the near future. They seem to split the difference between a K'roo and a Sheffield along with the cost being the middle as well. If the K'roo wasn't >$500US, I'd have one of those headed my way but, as things are, it will have to wait.
