That's quite an indictment

Over here they're not that bad. I wouldn't want to eat there, or at any "take away" place on a regular basis, but now and again its pretty tasty.
Yeah, considering the garbage he eats!

They are grim places here though!

One of the streets in Leeds used to have a branch at each end, just walking past was bad enough. At one of them, there were prominent signs stating that there were listening devices at the tables, and that any recorded evidence of criminal activity would be given to the police! They used words of more than one syllable though, so the junkies, shop-lifters, and drug-dealers that frequented the place weren't dissuaded
Turquoise is my favorite stone, and I was trying to learn Navajo techniques, Jack!! I made several rings, gave most away but managed to keep this one - my Favorite!!

That's beautiful work Charlie, very interesting too
Oh blimey, I can see why that isn't popular Mitch!
Same there?!

I had a mate years ago, who had been a manager at a branch when he was young, told me a few stories!
Some years ago, Mickey-D's used to put beef fat in the frying oil! Those Fries were good!!
But it left Vegetarians with no options, so the protests got rid of the fat!!!
Must be over 10 years that the fries became mediocre!! And our "downtown" MacDonalds became a place for a lot of our marginal bretheren - Police calls every day!!
I haven't gone in 8 - 9 years!! Maybe it's the lack of fat!!!

Fish & chip shops still mainly fry in beef fat in Leeds, though nationally that has been changing for several decades. Apart from the vegetarians, I think oil is cheaper, requires changing less frequently, and doesn't take as much skill to fry in. There are plenty of rotten fish & chip shops here though
I tried making a ring with Gold!! My work was not as well done, but I kept that one also, because I like the Stone!!
Turquoise is often collected by the mine from which it comes!! This ring and necklace are both from the Royston Mine in Nevada!! One of the oldest Turquoise mines!!

Incredible Charlie

When I was a teenager, I got good at fly-tying, and made some pocket money tying them for what was then the country's biggest fishing tackle shop (Bennett's of Sheffield). It's one of the few artistic things I've ever done, but I don't have a single example
It is a cooper's adze. Found it in a flea market. I made the handle out of a piece of hickory firewood.
Fantastic Dwight

One of the market regulars, Barry The Ted, was a cooper
I love turquoise too. That's a beautiful piece of jewelry Charlie!

Very gentlemanly Mitch, it's been enjoyable to see your collection
Opposite end of the spectrum, we had a cold front go through overnight, today at the moment about 50 degrees, but feels like about 40 with the wind chill and rain.
Hope you get some warmer weather soon mate
Another stellar photo Dwight
Good morning Guardians, cool and overcast here, but it's still only 7.30am. Hoping it brightens up a little for mine and Al's pub crawl later. I'm going to call in at Charlie's first, and also get some lunch in town. First, I have a few things to do in the house. I hope that everyone has a good Friday, and that you're looking forward to the weekend
