Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Yeah, back in the 90"s, I once had to wait for 12 hours in a London hospital, after breaking a couple of ribs. That was just to get a brief examination ๐Ÿ™„ Nice choices for the weekend Jer ๐Ÿ‘
Don't worry it's not just the dark ages. When my leg was injured a few years back. Taken by ambulance at 8.30am didn't get out till after 4. Here's the good part, after initial consult put in a wheel chair & wheeled out to waiting room & left. With a bodgey hand I can't operate a wheelchair on my own๐Ÿ˜ง๐Ÿ˜ฑ I don't think circle work counts๐Ÿ˜‚ So couldn't move till the wife turned up. Only needed 19 stitches.

Hasn't improved any. Kristy took 1 of the kids to scheduled doctor alpointment on Wed at the hospital for 8.10am texted me 11.20 still at the hospital.

Problem is it's the biggest hospital out side of Sydney & a teaching hospital, so a lot of handing off & second opinions.

Happy weekend everyone. Saturday for some, Sunday for others I suppose. The lamb got a little bit of a workout today cutting some tubular pvc drain pipe, weed string and adjusting the throttle on my wacker. Doesn't even need touched up. Good steel.

I only had a few small jobs today and one lawn, so Sofie and I got to hang on the porch a while and enjoy our new bird feeder.
20230826_164851~2.jpg

I used to just toss seed into the lawn but Natalie bought me a hanging feeder last week that was on clearance at her work. Nothing fancy, just a wood box with a screen on the bottom.

I apologize ahead of time for the photo quality, my camera doesn't seem to like taking pictures of birds.

The Wrens are my favorite. They travel in large groups all over the neighborhood. They post sentries in various locations to alert each other when food is available. These little guys can jam about a dozen of themselves into the feeder, it's quite a sight. They take turns eating and the others wait on a nearby branch.

20230826_170745~2.jpg

The mourning doves are my arch nemesis. They build nests in the dumbest places and will plop their rear ends into the feeder and eat till it's gone or they just explode. This one was giving me the eyeball today. They do get along with the wrens, so that is good.

20230826_164958~3.jpg

This Cardinal is pretty but he's kind of a jagoff. He regularly comes out of nowhere and chases off all the other birds. The only one that will stand up to him is the Bluejay, who I haven't seen for some time. The cardinal lives in a tree behind the house where he just enjoys tormenting Sofie when she's out back.

20230825_193609~2.jpg

The Robins could care less about the feeder and usually dig through the flower garden. I haven't seen a starling in a while thankfully. They are mischievous little things. There are some woodpeckers but they are very hard to spot.

You can also tell when the hawks are overhead because there's dead silence and all the birds, chipmunks, rabbits and squirrels vanish. There's probably 8 or so Redtails that live around here.

I'm having a lot of fun with this and may have to find a better camera to capture all of the local city critters.

Have a good one everyone!

Very pleased to finally be making an appearance
Welcome. Very nice ebony.
found at a second hand clothing store, while donating
That was probably the only genuine lambsfoot at a Goodwill in all of the USA. ๐Ÿ‘ AMAZING.
Cassie and I went for a nice walk around one of the local ponds. It's a lovely day here. Heat finally broke and along with it the humidity.

Good afternoon Guardians. Very pleased to finally be making an appearance in this thread after many years of lurking. Try as I might I can't quite get through all 4134 pages! What I've found out though over the years about the pattern though has been fascinating and it's been wonderful to read all of your contributions.

This is one of two lambsfoot knives I own, both from from A Wright, the other being a big'un in rosewood with a bit questionable in F&F and a blade that isn't even close to straight (purchased in 2010 when they were going through a bit of a funny period).
I love this ebony though, it's pretty much perfect.
No gaps, centered blade, feels lovely in the hand.

Welcome! Yeah, it's a fast-moving thread, but not bad if you keep up every day.

After checking online, I got a taxi to St James Hospital in Leeds, known as 'Jimmy's'. They booked me in, but said I'd have to go to the Minor Injuries Unit at Leeds General Infirmary, the last open in the city. I ordered another taxi, but it was sent to the wrong wing, so I ended up having to walk there, to catch up with the taxi. On arrival at the LGI, I was told that the MIU doesn't open until 9am, so me and Wee Staggy have a 25 minute wait ๐Ÿ™„

Sorry to hear about your shoulder, Jack. ๐Ÿ˜• I canโ€™t believe they turned you away at Jimmyโ€™s! ๐Ÿ˜ก Donโ€™t they know who you are?! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hope youโ€™re feeling better soon!

Damp and muggy here....back to the ac.View attachment 2299538

Good looking old Lamb, Bob.

Please donโ€™t mind the dead grass. Itโ€™s been โ€œhotโ€. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Well at least you have an excuse. ๐Ÿ˜ (Ok, our grass isnโ€™t dead, itโ€™s just full of weeds and whatnot.)

I only had a few small jobs today and one lawn, so Sofie and I got to hang on the porch a while and enjoy our new bird feeder.

I love that pic of Sofie! She looks a lot like our lab we had, Maggie, who also used to sit at the top of the stairs just like that, with her front paws one step down from her butt. I guess it must be comfortable for โ€˜em. ๐Ÿ˜

We had a busy start to the weekend. Took both girls to get a haircut on Friday. Eleanor just needed a trim, but Scout was getting her first haircut, so that was exciting. As a reward, they asked to go to my favorite local brewery and let dad throw back a few cold onesโ€ฆ Nah, just kidding. They asked to go to McDonaldโ€™s. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฃ

I spent Friday afternoon setting up a new bunk bed we got for them, which was just a whole lot of fun. It showed up a few days earlier than we had expected, and we didnโ€™t yet have everything we needed for it (most importantly, mattresses), so after I got it all put together, we went and got everything else so they could sleep in it that night.

Today was a little more relaxed, got some stuff done around the house. Julie and I had the chance to go out for dinner without the kids tonight. We tried a new place, which turned out to be just ok, but their cheese curds were pretty good. ๐Ÿง€๐Ÿ˜‹

Well Guardians, let's see why you got 4134 pages of these...
I have the blade sticking out quite a bit in the closed position, I'm seriously thinking of leaving this one without a nial nick/pull.
What do you guardians think?

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a great weekend ๐Ÿ˜Š I'm finding it painful to type, so just on my phone this morning. The weather is dull and overcast, but there's no rain so far. I"m supposed to be meeting up with some friends in the park later, but have to see how that goes ๐Ÿ™„ Carrying the wee Rodgers Shadow Lamb that Paul Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 kindly sent me today :) Have a good one Guardians ๐Ÿ‘

It's all good Jack, could have been worse, could have been my good leg๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Seriously the staff in the ED are great, really over worked.Like a lot of things these days bureaucracy seems more interested in stats than people.

I did have a good afternoon Jack, although my team lost but still in the finals

Jack you feel better soon๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I do hope you find some relief in the near future.

๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ Yes, they've been overworked and underpaid for decades here. Yet, on the very rare occasions I have to visit a hospital, the staff are always so pleasant and helpful, and they do have to put up with a few things ๐Ÿ˜ฑ When I got to the hospital yesterday, they were only just getting finished witb the Saturday night crowd, and there were as many cops there as doctors! I was talking to a bloke who had sobered-up, and was waiting for his (clearly long-suffering) daughters to pick him up. He was an ex-boxer, and told me he had some brain damage, and was an alcoholic. He looked 20 years older than he was. The nurses were really nice to him, and brought him a cup of tea, but apparently he'd been brought in by the police, and been carrying on. He'd even run off at one point, to go and get a drink, and one of the nurses, the security guards, and police had had to chase him halfway across the city centre! It sounded like a Benny Hill sketch! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Thanks buddy, have a good week ๐Ÿ‘
