Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Happy Friday Guardians! And the 1st of September to boot! Got my walk around the lake in early as the temp was 65 deg F. Very comfortable out side but it will be significantly warming as we progress through the coming weekend. Enjoying it while I can. My daughter and her husband are visiting with us through out the Labor Day holiday - great to have them here. Touched up the ole HHB on my ceramic rods and I must confess...it is stupid sharp now. Shaves the hair from my arms better than my razor.;)

Good for you Bill, I need to get back into going walking myself again :) I hope everyone has a happy holiday, great to hear about your Hartshead Barlow, that's a nice photo :)
I guess times like that, make us appreciate what we have now. Nothing seems to be getting better, that's for sure.
I always search out the small Cafe over the " fashionable" restaurant.
Yes indeed Bob, I am the same :)

Maybe just yesterday I came across a happy-talk feature on bbcnews.com about eel pies. I knew all about jellied eels from watching Torchwood, but I hadn't heard of eel pies. I can't find them in my British cookbooks, either. Just a question of what vegs and spices go with eels, I suppose.

I used to catch them for my Sicilian grandfather but never ate them.

Is your sweet lamb on a turntable Jer?

I have caught plenty of eels, but never eaten them either. I was on a fishing holiday, as a teenager, and the river was full of eels. Some Londoners were fishing near me, and I gave them all I caught, which was a lot. They were going to cook them up with wine, and said they'd invite me round to their caravan (trailer) for some. In the end though, their girlfriends wouldn't let them cook the eels in the caravan, as they reckoned they'd stink it out, so I didn't get to try them. I never fancied jellied eels at all! :D

I ate them in Japan. There was a day on which you ate eels instead of the usual on the rice in that dish whose name escapes me. That's going to bother me.
Rose Beast is on the dust-cover of a turntable. Not that there's much for a dust-cover to do in my house.

[Unagi domburi! I remembered (and verified). Katsudon was the usual, in my neck of the woods at least. Short for (pork) cutlet domburi. (the syllabic nasal assimilates to the point of articulation of a following consonant, hence don > dom.)]
Very interesting Jer
Thanks jack !

Pie ! .

There were thousands of pie 'n' mash shops at one time, but unusual now,

but the old-fashioned cafes are also dying out, sadly
I know things change and nothing stands still, but everything just seems so bland and sterile now, these places had character, some good, some bad, but they had something. The new cafes have diddly squat as a rule, and see how many of the new food eateries are around in 50-100 years time, i can tell you now how many!!!! Moving on, you have started something my friend, rumour has it there is another drop of lambs due from an American manufacturer, cannot discuss purchasing though, but there is a trend happening. 🙈🙉🙊:).

Yeah, here in Leeds, there isn't a single ordinary cafe left in the city centre, outside the market, which only has about 3 left :( Some of the old cafes had been around for generations. I don't the situation is much better in any of the big British cities :(

Wow, the Lambsfoot rules!

Thank you Jack.

LOL! 😁 He told me he had a Reliant Robin once, but he was young, and only a third of the man he is today! 😁👍

I know Barrett is fond of this (coincidentally filmed in Sheffield)!

I always enjoy that. 😁 In the full version, Jeremy talks with a group of Reliant enthusiasts, one of whom tells him, in a thick Yorkshire accent, that they used to keep big toolboxes in the passenger seat to keep ‘em balanced. Tool Man (like myself) might’ve needed a whole tool chest. 🤣

(Of course, they rigged that Robin to tip over so easily for the bit.)

OMG I think I hurt myself. That was hilarious 😂

It’s one of my favorite Top Gear segments. Sadly, I don’t know that the whole thing (it’s about 15 minutes long) can be found online anywhere.

Good looking wood on that one, Bob.

We always called it jelly, but here jelly is usually the basic juice that has been thickened to resemble the real stuff. Like Welches grape or strawberry.

Jam would be the actual crushed fruit. I don't know how correct any of that is, but that's what we call it. Lol!

That sounds about right to me.

Hello everybody. Hope you have a fun weekend planned. Just caught up on the thread and it sounds like everyone has had a good week for the most part.

Today is opening day of dove season in our area. I took the day off and gave the shotgun the spa treatment. Headed out this afternoon for a hunt. I reckon I’ll have 8 or 9 shots for every bird in the bag. 🤣🤣🤣

Hope it went well, Pete.

In London, they traditionally eat pie 'n' mash, with a green liquid they call 'liquour' Bob! :D There were thousands of pie 'n' mash shops at one time, but unusual now, unless they are sort of tribute places for fake Cockneys (Mockneys) I dare say we can find one, and feel free to drop round anytime :)

That pie looks delicious! 😋 I’m not so sure about the green “liquor,” but I’d at least give it a try.

I never fancied jellied eels at all! :D

You can definitely keep those! 😵‍💫

Spent the afternoon/evening drinking beer, listening to music and enjoying the warm weather while the girls played in the water.

One of my favorites of Jeremy's is when he drives the Peel P50 to work. 🤣

Pie? :D

Good morning Guardians, welcome to another weekend! :) What do you know, it's raining here?! I could do with meeting up with my mate Wolfie, as I have a birthday gift for his wife, and since it's National Cinema Day here, I might go and watch a movie. First, I think I might call in at Charlie's ;) Carrying my DamLamb :) Have a great weekend, I hope you find something relaxing/exciting/interesting to do  Enjoy carrying your Lambsfoot :)
