Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Can see why. You scored a nice one there.

I am cynical by nature, but especially after everything that has happened over the last 3 years and i don't believe most things that major organizations try to tell us, and that includes the Internet. They have missed what an actual " Nobbler " is, no surprises there. A " Nobbler " is someone who fixes an event, eg., dopes a racehorse, or fixes a boxing match so " Wolfie " can win. There is always a financial windfall at the end of the known result. EG, bets are placed before hand because the result is already known. The 2 biggest fixes, or matches being nobbled, were both in America, the World Series about 100 years ago, and Cassius Clay v Sonny Liston 2 in the sixties. Both results bringing huge financial results to those who " Nobbled " these events.
The words 'Nobbler' and 'Nobbled' are still in common use here
Thank you Leon.
I have watched several movies about the white sox base ball scandal.☹️
Wasn't that Arnold Rothstein Bob?
But, I understood the gentleman's moniker to be "nobber al" and not "nobbler al."

There's an "L" in your version of the word that may give it a different meaning?

One letter can make a world of difference:

Daughter > Laughter > Slaughter...

Just one letter!

My mistake. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa. I should have been more attentive before i jumped to conclusions. I still don't believe most things i read though. 🤣 .
🤣 🤣
Searched nobber basically means idiot or fool. It's also a town Ireland.
Maybe me and Al need to plan a pub crawl there! :D
Then i should have known, i tick both boxes there.
You certainly do not! :D
Great photos Kurt!

Hello all. Whataweek and no Whataburger here Vince. Hope all on the East coast get on with no storm damage.

It’s cooler here this week by about ten degrees which has been wonderful.

Going to be doing some yard and equipment maintenance this weekend. Hope everyone gets a chance to relax. 👍👍😎

Glad you're enjoying some more pleasant temperatures Pete, great pic
Hello from the North Coast of PA.

Grapes are in season and I couldn't wait to get up here, set up the tent and then eat way too many of them. Concord and Niagara here

Spotty reception camping but couldn't resist a couple photos of the lamb. Best sunsets in the US right here. That's what they say, anyways.

Have a good weekend everyone.
That IS a pretty gorgeous sunset Rick  Have a lovely time camping, and thanks for the great pics :)
Thanks guys!

I'm a big fan of these! The handle shape is comfortable and I really like the blade profile but what seals it for me is that even though the nail nick is slammed low to the liner, the way they cut the nick creates an overhang - for lack of a better term, that makes them quite pinchable. Not in the usual way, by grabbing the blade flats, but if I pinch it at the nick there's enough purchase from the overhang that I can easily pull the blade up with no nail required.

My right thumbnail was recently slain by a knife of a lesser pattern and I'm still waiting for it to get long enough to be a useful opener again - until then, it's either use my left thumbnail 😳 or pinch. I prefer pinch!
THe main reason I like the big nail-nicks A. Wright typically use, is that they add purchase to a pinch
Looking good Mitch, I love that fob! :D
:)

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing OK. My internet connection is functioning even worse than I am, after getting in half-sozzled at 3am! 🥴 I had a great night out though :)

For the best part of 20 years I used to frequent a curry house, a great family-run neighbourhood place, where the food is good, and the prices unbelievably low. By chance I started going out with a woman who lived nearby, and at one time, we were going there 2-3 times a week. Then, I developed some stomach problems, and had to stop eating after 4.30pm, then Covid came, and around the same time I split up with my ex, so it's a while since I was last there. Nazam's is opposite the venue where Wolfie was fighting, so I thought I'd go over early, and treat myself to a curry. At just after 5pm, I was their first diner, and it was so nice to see everyone again. They really looked after me. Their menu has changed, physically at least, and I didn't have my reading glasses with me, so I just ordered from memory, starting with poppadoms and pickles, then mixed bhajis with a side salad, and mushroom dhansak with chappatis. The food was fantastic, even better than I remembered, and I thoroughly enjoyed it 😋

The staff kept coming out of the kitchen to talk to me, and ask my about my family, and update me on how theirs are. When I went to pay, they told me just to give them £10, but I doubled that, and then walked down the road to The Chemic Tavern, for a pint. I sat in the same spot, where I sat 21 years ago, when I first started thinking of moving to Leeds, after a similar tasty meal at Nazam's. The pub hasn't changed much, and the beer is still excellent

It's great when something exceeds our memory of how good it was 👍

I was on my second pint when the first of my mates began to arrive, and we were soon joined by more, and having a great crack (being a Northern English/Scottish word, that's how we spell it ;)) Wolfie called in with the tickets for the fight, and then went off to the venue, while the rest of us stayed boozing in the pub ;)

When it was time, we all headed up the road to the venue, and found some seats. Wolfie was supposed to be fighting a Welsh boxer, but he had dropped out, and been replaced by another, from Manchester, where the opposing boxers all seemed to emanate. I don't know which boxing gym they were from, but there was a lot of unnecessary posing and showboating, which you don't usually see at these kind of events, particularly when some of the boxers didn't have a lot of talent. There were some incredible scraps though, particularly a title fight, which was fourth on the card, with a local favourite fighting the title-holder. It was a pretty brutal contest, with both fighters really going for it, and a points decision, which favoured the champ. Wolfie was ninth on the card, and came out to The Fields of Athenry. His opponent also did a lot of posing and show-boating, despite clearly inferior boxing skills, and keeping his cool, Wolfie was well in front throughout. We were all hoping for a knockout, but he won decisively on points

I filmed the fight on my phone, but who knows what happened there, I only have one short section  I'll post that later, along with any other footage I can get hold of

There were three more fights, one of which involved a belt, and while one only lasted 30 seconds or so, the others were pretty good. After that it was back to the pub, where we had a great boozing session. Here's Wolfie after the fight

Great pic Steve

Thanks Jack !

You managed to pack a week's worth of activity into one night Jack. 👌
Sounds great to be able to step into the past for awhile, then see some great boxing.
Enjoy your Sunday, hopefully relaxing .

Fortunately, the storm decided to pass out to sea. Mild winds and rain is the result.
Thank you very much my friend :) Most of the guys I was out with, I have known for 20-odd years, it was nice :) That's great news on the storm, I hope you're having a wonderful weekend :)

Quite correct about A. Rothstein Jack. He brought the brains to the mafia.

Good morning Guardians. It's a stormy day today. Tropical storm Ophelia hit us right in the ole snot box. 60-75 mph gusts and 5 inches of rain. Any more wind and it would have been a hurricane. Got through the worst of it and thank God I had my palm tree braced. Have a nice cup of hot tea and my HHB by my side to help ride this storm out.

Glad Ophelia decided to give you a break Bill. You have a rich looking lamb to accompany you.👌

Yes, quite rare too! :D

That was the worst thing about his opponent's show-boating, he's was dancing about, and wiggling his hips, like Naseem Hamed, and standing there, at the other side of the ring, with his chin stuck out, and his arms by his sides, but I don't think he landed a single head shot. He must have gone to dance school rather than a boxing gym
Hope you're not to hung over and Waboom is a fine choice !
Thanks buddy :)

Thanks for the clarification Bob, I'm glad I can still remember SOME things! :D
