Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing OK. My internet connection is functioning even worse than I am, after getting in half-sozzled at 3am!

I had a great night out though
For the best part of 20 years I used to frequent a curry house, a great family-run neighbourhood place, where the food is good, and the prices unbelievably low. By chance I started going out with a woman who lived nearby, and at one time, we were going there 2-3 times a week. Then, I developed some stomach problems, and had to stop eating after 4.30pm, then Covid came, and around the same time I split up with my ex, so it's a while since I was last there. Nazam's is opposite the venue where Wolfie was fighting, so I thought I'd go over early, and treat myself to a curry. At just after 5pm, I was their first diner, and it was so nice to see everyone again. They really looked after me. Their menu has changed, physically at least, and I didn't have my reading glasses with me, so I just ordered from memory, starting with poppadoms and pickles, then mixed bhajis with a side salad, and mushroom dhansak with chappatis. The food was fantastic, even better than I remembered, and I thoroughly enjoyed it

The staff kept coming out of the kitchen to talk to me, and ask my about my family, and update me on how theirs are. When I went to pay, they told me just to give them £10, but I doubled that, and then walked down the road to The Chemic Tavern, for a pint. I sat in the same spot, where I sat 21 years ago, when I first started thinking of moving to Leeds, after a similar tasty meal at Nazam's. The pub hasn't changed much, and the beer is still excellent

I was on my second pint when the first of my mates began to arrive, and we were soon joined by more, and having a great crack (being a Northern English/Scottish word, that's how we spell it

) Wolfie called in with the tickets for the fight, and then went off to the venue, while the rest of us stayed boozing in the pub
When it was time, we all headed up the road to the venue, and found some seats. Wolfie was supposed to be fighting a Welsh boxer, but he had dropped out, and been replaced by another, from Manchester, where the opposing boxers all seemed to emanate. I don't know which boxing gym they were from, but there was a lot of unnecessary posing and showboating, which you don't usually see at these kind of events, particularly when some of the boxers didn't have a lot of talent. There were some incredible scraps though, particularly a title fight, which was fourth on the card, with a local favourite fighting the title-holder. It was a pretty brutal contest, with both fighters really going for it, and a points decision, which favoured the champ. Wolfie was ninth on the card, and came out to
The Fields of Athenry. His opponent also did a lot of posing and show-boating, despite clearly inferior boxing skills, and keeping his cool, Wolfie was well in front throughout. We were all hoping for a knockout, but he won decisively on points
I filmed the fight on my phone, but who knows what happened there, I only have one short section

I'll post that later, along with any other footage I can get hold of
There were three more fights, one of which involved a belt, and while one only lasted 30 seconds or so, the others were pretty good. After that it was back to the pub, where we had a great boozing session. Here's Wolfie after the fight
