Nice work Daniel

My internet is running like cold porridge today, and it's taking up too much of the little time I have. I might have to love ya 'n' leave ya, and get myself ready for Wolfie's boxing :) Have a great evening everyone

Thanks Jack have a great time at Wolfie’s match.

I'm so far behind I'll never catch up, so I'll just jump in here with the one and only for today...

I have, at least once, but I'll go over it, briefly, again ;)

Harry is an old bloke, from a small West Yorkshire (former) mining town, called Normanton. He has the broadest of Yorkshire accents. Years ago, there was a food stand in the market, which sold spicy sausage-meat balls, and Harry would always turn up with a small foil-lined bag, filled with them. He'd say, "Duz tha want 'ot ball?" We came to associate the snack with Harry, and it's how he got his name.

I've no idea what 'Nobber' actually means, as it predates my time on the market. Al, and Tool Man, and Boring Ray, had a mate called Howard, an crusty old SAS man apparently. One day, him and Al were verbally sparring, and Al called him something unrepeatable, and Howard told him, "You're worse than that, you're a nobber!" Everyone looked at each other, quizzically, and Al, apparently replied, "What the hell's a nobber?" Nobody knew, Howard said no more, the name stuck :D
Thanks for the retelling Jack Black Jack Black !

The internet told me that a nobber could be:

a) Someone who has taken a blow (or perhaps many) to the head. An idiot.

b) Someone adept at landing blows to others' heads. A boxer.

c) A general pejorative used to describe someone who has just caused you additional and unnecessary trouble. A bungler.

🤣

Wonderful achievements you lot have made with the language!

A perfect afternoon combined a motorcycle ride on a beautiful day, playing with knives, and meeting a good friend for an outdoor lunch by a lake.
Barrett and I talked up a storm while enjoying cold beers and good food. I was limited on what I could bring knife-wise, but Barrett picked up the pace with several wonderful knives.

Great pic. Hey, you still had me outnumbered 2-to-1 when it came to Lambsfoot knives! 😁

Evening Guardians!

I haven't posted in here before, am I doing this right?

Just kidding. Welcome! That’s Albers is looking almost as good as the Mexican food.

Thanks pal :D Yes, he's even wearing shoes at the moment, as opposed to the steel-capped rigger's boots he has worn for years. I'd like to think I'm having a civilizing influence! ;) 🤣

He’ll be wearing a cravat and sipping tea with his pinky out before you know it! 🤣

I'm jealous! :D I would have absolutely loved to have been there with you guys :) Glad you had a great time Barrett, looks like you had a great feast too :)

Would’ve loved to have you there!

Leeds has a LOT of students, and when they turn up for the new term, it makes a big difference to the town. Supermarkets are packed with clusters of clueless young people, who've never been away from home before, wandering around aimlessly, or sometimes led by a young mother hen, buying up all manner of things, and then trying to pay with their library card  The streets of the city centre are also filled with them, either drifting around, with no idea where they're going, looking like rabbits in a car's headlights. Or, drifting around aimlessly, with no idea where they're going, but trying so hard to look cool, that they don't much care, young lads with stiff shiny leather jackets, and girls wearing too much make-up, all looking like they're playing somebody else, on stage. The Goths are the funniest, overdressed in every bit of Goth tat they can find, like Edward Scissor Hands here :D

Or Bat Girl! 🤣

Awww 🙂😆;)

The more sensible ones will hang onto some of their money past the first week

College towns are always interesting (and good for people watching), particularly when school starts back. It’s amazing how inept some college students can be their first year. Some of them don’t get any better by their final year. 😁

The third DHL 'depot' was a stationers, where everything worked!:thumbsup: I was close to the Chilli Shop, so called in to see if the proprietor had managed to get hold of some Momofuku Chilli Crunch for me. He said there was none in Europe, but recommended this chilli oil, which he told me was his best seller. I'm glad he told me how little to add to a dish - a SPECK for a meal for two he reckoned - otherwise I'd have been whacking it in by the teaspoon!

I know you can’t always judge a hot sauce by its packaging, but that one looks like it could be hot! I think the downside of having a chili crisp that’s too spicy is you can’t really enjoy the crunch if you only use a small amount. I really like to heap it on stuff! 😋

Sorry you can’t get ahold of the Momofuku Chili Crunch there. Hopefully you can find something similar you like. I think this brand is supposed to be pretty ubiquitous, but I’ve never tried it so I don’t know it compares.

Storms coming...time to batten down the patio furniture.
Thanks Jack, I like the feel of this lamb in my hand.View attachment 2330442

Hope the weather’s not too bad, Bob. Great mug! Deneen Pottery?

You are a wizard of pottery, Deneen it is.👍🏻

They’re in St. Paul, MN and make mugs for a lot of small businesses, particularly coffee companies, but others as well. I noticed their mugs at a few local places around here, then all the sudden I couldn’t stop seeing them everywhere (including here on the forum).

I got this one a while back from a playing card company that makes some interesting stuff.
