Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Yeah, I bought the same model for my ex, which she specifically requested. Probably never been used

Surprisingly, it's not the only pre-digital camera shop in the city centre

Thanks mate :) If the rain is blowing sideways, he'll put a tarp over them, but if they get wet, he has to clean them up again :( Doesn't stop him turning up though, unlike Nobber Al, for instance who only sells CDs anyway

How's everyone doing? I hope your day is going well :) The rain never stopped here today, and mostly rained heavily. Boring Ray is on the annual family vacation to the Yorkshire seaside, in November o_O So it was just me and Tool Man, and as Tool Man had to go for the fitting of his latest drape jacket, I had to man the stall alone for an hour. Tool Man bought the cake on his return (though he also ate most of it)! :eek:šŸ˜‚

Nobber Al wasn't the only trader to 'blob', (as Tool Man puts it) today, but his absence was the most inconvenient, since I had taken a bunch of DVDs down for him, along with a few books for the equally feckless Golden Gordon  This street trader, on his way up to the city centre, had to defend his wares against ninjas! :D

There weren't so many punters in the market, due to the poor weather, but Tool Man still did OK. An old friend of ours traded him this lovely old mincer. I was astonished when Tool Man put it on sale for a fiver, and even more astonished when some toe-rag was trying to haggle him down to £2! 🤨In fact he got the sharp edge of my tongue, much to Tool Man's amusement! 🤣

While Tool Man was off at the tailor's, I had a poke around on the stall, and actually found a Lambsfoot! I was pretty disgusted when I saw that TEW were doing these economy models, but at least this one has a carbon steel blade. I haven't had a motorbike for decades, but thought this old Dunlop tyre lever looked useful :)

Since Tool Man was on his own, I stayed a bit later than usual, leaving just before the arrival of Mrs Tool Man :) And it was still raining

Looking forward to a pie for tea! šŸ˜‹
looks like a lovely soft British day you had there

Jack came up with it, Steve!! Some almost has a "basket-weave" pattern, and it seems to be an old Sheffield specialty!!!
A shame GEC couldn't replicate it Charlie, but the jigging on your Lambsfoot knives is still some of their very best

My tweed cap actually has a herringbone pattern, but the old Sheffield cloth caps most commonly had a 'dog's tooth' pattern, as they say in Sheffield, as did the jackets many men wore

My mate Matt has the day off work tomorrow, and we have arranged to go to see the new Scorcese movie

Unfortunately, it's 3 1/2 hours long, and folks here seem to have forgotten what a darn intermission is! 😣 For some reason, all the cinemas within a 30 mile radius, that are showing it, have it on at rather stupid times, with starting times at between 8.00pm and 9.30pm at night! 🄱 The best we've been able to get is one that runs between 2.30pm and 6.30pm, which kinda messes up meal times, and it's on an IMAX screen, so it's costing us 3 times the price. I've always wanted to see an IMAX movie, but I want to see a genuine IMAX movie, like the one filmed on Everest, something that benefits from a screen that size, not a movie that's made for a regular screen. If I was going alone, I'd just wait, but Matt only has the one day off, and he's really looking forward to it, so I agreed. I just hope it doesn't ruin the movie for me

I said I'd buy lunch first, and we might be able to fit in a pint beforehand. I've also just filled up my large Stanley hipflask with Bushmills ;) I'm hoping I also get time to meet Wolfie for a coffee in the morning :) Either way, I'll be carrying my Hartshead Barlow. This is the slingshot I've been using most lately

Thanks Bob, I expect there will be a couple of pints after the movie ;) I've had a couple of slingshots from that same series. Like several of my slingshots, they're 'Gamekeeper John' Webb designs, and very good value I think

Good morning Guardians !

Carrying this one today šŸ‘

Cool pic!
Lovely Albers David :)
Thank you Jack
Kats looking good !
Thanks Steve!

About 20 years ago, a few of us, the folks who used to live on my street, were sitting around watch a movie. One of the lads had an Afro, and forever more, was known as 'Heid'! :D

I’ve never actually seen that one. Mike Myers really likes using that accent, doesn’t he? 😁

Surprisingly, it's not the only pre-digital camera shop in the city centre

If only there were traditional pocket knife shops like that!

Since Tool Man was on his own, I stayed a bit later than usual, leaving just before the arrival of Mrs Tool Man :) And it was still raining

Well at least you could get an ice cold drink. 🤣

A shame GEC couldn't replicate it Charlie, but the jigging on your Lambsfoot knives is still some of their very best

That’s interesting. I feel like GEC has done some jigging similar to that a few times (not on a Lambsfoot, of course).

Enjoy the movie, Jack. I think it looks pretty good, but I didn’t know it was 3.5 hours long! I think intermissions for movies may have been before my time. Back in college we saw Grindhouse as the full double feature experience in a theater, and I don’t even remember it having a real intermission. (If I remember correctly there were fake trailers that played through the ā€œintermission,ā€ which would have been a shame to miss.)

I haven’t been to an IMAX movie in years. I don’t remember disliking them particularly, I just don’t care to pay the extra cost. Also, the trend here with movie theaters has been toward big, comfy reclining seats, which are honestly pretty nice, but I don’t think IMAX allows them (can’t remember the reason, but I remember reading something about it a while back). So even the theaters that have the comfy reclining seats don’t have them in their IMAX theaters.

I’ve never been a big fan of 3D, but recently Eleanor kept begging to go see one, so we went and saw the latest Pixar movie in 3D. I will say that the technology seems to have improved, but it’s still pretty gimmicky, and I won’t be in a hurry to go back.
