Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Doesn't he just?! :D

My sister was a mad Bay City Rollers fan, it was very embarrassing! :D

I’ll have to check that movie out some time.

Someone once asked if it related to a specific period in Sheffield, but I'm afraid I don't know about that. I'm certainly not aware that it is. I sometimes buy an old knife for the jigging pattern, even if it is otherwise ruined

Nothing wrong with that at all.

It was strange that they had intermissions when movies were usually only 90 minutes long. I think the theatres are missing a trick, selling everyone more ice-cream and popcorn! :D With longer movies, they make sense, and I remember them fondly. One of our neighbours was an usherette at the the local picture house. I'm not sure it was quite as glamorous as my image search suggests, but it was pretty cool :D

59159742b3bb2560583023.jpg

The usherettes showed you to your seat with a red torch, and then came out at the intermission. They sold cigarettes, as well as candy and ice-cream. They'd show ads like the ones in Grindhouse! After the main ads, there'd be a couple of cheaply made ones for local businesses, which ran for years, and were usually hilarious :D The big one in Yorkshire was for 'Mike's Carpets' of Leeds! 🤣

Interesting stuff, Jack. They really wanted you to buy some ice cream! 😁 The usherettes feel like something from an entirely different time, like seeing photos of men in suits smoking cigarettes while leisurely sitting in roomy airplane seats.

When I was a kid, my maternal grandparents, both retired by this point, used to volunteer (or maybe they got paid a small amount) as ushers at a local theater (live performances, not movies). I think mostly they did it to get free tickets to see the shows.

Matt told me about going to see The Godfather on IMAX about a year ago, and described it as a very strange experience. In one scene, someone gets shot, and the camera stays on his face for several seconds. Unfortunately, in IMAX, not only could you see the actor breathing, but his copious nostril hair appeared like a forest! :D

🤣🤣

I would like to see something in 3D sometime, just for the experience :D

It’s probably worth doing at least once. If you do, make sure you pick a movie that was made to be released in 3D, not something where it was sort of an afterthought.

Good morning Guardians, I better stop lollygagging, and get a shave! :D Have a great day everyone :)

Great pic, Jack! Hope you had a nice day and enjoyed your movie.

Speaking of duplicate DVDs (or Blu-rays, in this case), I forgot that I had multiple copies of these. For some reason they only released the two films separately at first. I think it was a few years before they released the whole thing together with the fake trailers and all. Shown here with a special Lambsfoot double feature, of course. 😉

Just got back from a trip up to Georgia - took some lambs with.

First stop was Jekyll Island, home of Driftwood Beach, where a coastal stand of old oaks was killed off (I'm guessing by saltwater intrusion) and scoured with windblown sand, intense sunlight, and plenty of salt water. If you like bizarre scenery and surreal woodgrain, it's worth a visit. Also, parts of the 1989 film 'Glory,' starring Matthew Broderick, Cary Elwes, Morgan Freeman, and Denzel Washington was filmed here - a boardwalk built by the film crew for getting their equipment to the remote filming locations remains.

Then on to Savannah, GA and a compulsory stop at Bonaventure Cemetery. Sun was out in full force and we were there in the middle of the day which made for less than ideal pictures - especially for a cemetery. Bonaventure was established in 1846 and was prominently featured in the book (and film) "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Additionally; John Muir, of Muir Woods fame, was so intrigued by it that he ended up camping out in it for a few months.

I had a lot of catching up to do in this thread, but seeing all of your fine lambs (and catapults) made it quite an enjoyable slog!

Still nothing on the job front yet, but one foot in front of the other!

Hopefully, something in the form of a job appears in the near future.

Great picture of your Barlow !
Thank you Steve :)

Magazine worthy. 🤠
Thank John, I'd love to see a Lambsfoot Weekly! 🤣:)
Thanks guys. Beautiful image of your HHB Jack.
Thanks Dwight :)
Beautiful  :)
Thanks, Jack. A new bow this year. Kind of missing my old one to be honest. Fell for the latest a greatest nonsense.
Really? I hope things work out with it Paul :)
Hope your having a great day, Jack. A nice shave sounds nice. My Korean genes are not conducive to facial hair however 😆 😂 . HHB is looking great as always.

LOL! :D I know what you mean pal, my son-in-law's dad is from Hong Kong. When he first started going out with Ellie, my middle daughter, I offered to give him a nice vintage razor, but he only shaves about every other month :)

Unfortunately, the hunt was unsuccessful yesterday. I think I will wait for gun season to go back out. Rather spend the time with the kiddos. Just a normal day of work for me. Have the awesome '19 in the pocket today. Have a great day, Guardians.

I’ll have to check that movie out some time.
I'm going to try to find time to watch it again this weekend Barrett :D

Doesn't Mike Myers look young?! :D

Maybe not the best choice for a vegetarian first date!🤣

You're not kidding Barrett! :D After they got rid of the intermissions, it was booze and cigarettes! I remember going to the cinema in the late 80's, and sitting through 13 liquor adverts! :D And in the 70's, they even used to pack the kid's screenings with cigarette commercials!

Our neighbour used to let us in for free, but only in the middle of the movie! My dad took me to see Doctor Who & The Daleks when I was about 4, and didn't tell me that we were walking in in the middle of the movie. We watched it to the end, and then stayed for the beginning in the next showing! What a bloody cheap-skate! 🤨 Took me years to work out what was going on! 😖

Thanks pal, I was a bit underwhelmed by IMAX. I 'm not sure what I was expecting, but the screen wasn't THAT much bigger, and as you say, there were no recliners. It was VERY loud though! As to the movie, the first half is distinctly better than the second, in my opinion, and half an hour could have been shaved off it, I think, particularly considering the disappointing ending, which surprised me :(

Hope everyone has had a great day :) I had a couple of cups of coffee in Charlie's, and then called round at Matt's. It's half-term at the moment, so it was nice to see his kids :) We got a taxi over to a place, near the cinema, where we going to get lunch, but they were closed, and all we got from the woman inside was a dismissive wave of her finger  We found a pizza place not too far away, and had a large, but rather bland, pizza apiece. I can't say I'd go there again either  We had time for a couple of pints in one of my favourite pubs, before going to the movie theatre. After the film, we headed to a local brewery tap, for another couple of very enjoyable pints :)

Does anyone remember when Kevin seas165 seas165 very generously sent me his Sheldon Lambsfoot Knife, and some scubag stole the parcel? It was such a kind gesture from Kevin, and I was left so angry at what had happened :( Well, I got home tonight, to find a small parcel in my mail-box, and it was another present from Kevin, an Albert Oates Sheldon Lambsfoot, in mint condition  :) Wow, this knife is cool! The Lambsfoot blade disappears into the well, but slight pressure brings it out to use - sweet! :) Thank you very much Kevin, so kind of you my friend :)

Hey, maybe I’m Korean! Ok, obviously not. 😁 I grow just enough facial hair that I have to shave every other day, but I can’t actually grow decent beard to save my life. My dad had a mustache and goatee, but it didn’t grow in well on the sides, and my brother has been growing a sketchy looking “beard” for a few years now that I’m surprised his wife hasn’t made him shave off.

My grandpa on my dad’s side was always talking about us having some Native American ancestry — supposedly he had a grandmother or great grandmother who was Cherokee — and that was always my dad’s excuse re: facial hair, but my brother did one of those DNA tests and there wasn’t a hint of that anywhere, so who knows.

I can’t remember if it was something posted here or not, but a while back I saw some old videos where Fred Flintstone was hawking Winston cigarettes. 🤣

Thanks pal, I was a bit underwhelmed by IMAX. I 'm not sure what I was expecting, but the screen wasn't THAT much bigger, and as you say, there were no recliners. Thanks for your thoughts on the movie. Probably one I’ll end up seeing when it’s streaming somewhere later on. (Without a lot of family around here — i.e., no grandparents to pawn the kids off on — Julie and I don’t end up catching a lot of movies when they’re in theaters these days.)

Cool pic Barrett :) I recently read an interview with Tarantino, where he regretted his involvement with all of those! :D

It was an interesting experiment. I remember, when I saw the whole thing in theaters, thinking Tarantino’s part of it (Death Proof) was a bit slow/dull, especially following the over-the-top campy Planet Terror. I’d probably agree with him that it’s his worst movie, but having gone back and watched it on its own, it’s still a decent enough flick. I don’t think I’ve actually gone back and watched the whole double feature together, even though I own it.
