Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Morning Gents! Even though there are some bad AWS apples in the mix, this one is quite good. A generous gift from. @TylerG12 . I do believe it will be a pocket hog.

Gorgeous ebony on that lamb.
Very nice wood. Is it ebony? If so, it looks like Macassar.
It has slipped my mind at the moment but I don't think it's ebony. Jack Black Jack Black help us out here Jack. The wood on the 19's.
EDIT----- DESERT IRONWOOD

Younger folks have sometimes asked me why I don't get a tattoo
If a highly trained dentist can't get a crown right in your country I don't think I'd give my body over to some crack-head tattooist!!:rolleyes:😁😂
Afternoon Guardians! Got four new Lambs in today. Two Sheldon's an odd ball Joseph Rodgers and this one which came from Australia. Made in Sheffield but no Cutler tang stamp.

Love everything about that rig.

AC is a laudable lamb Jack. Your small pie looks inviting too.👍🏻
Enjoy your time with Matt and family.
Thank you kindly Bob, that's a mince pie, very traditional at Christmas here 🙂👍
Tea and Cake and a Lamb....all you need ! 👍

I had a busy day today and glad the week is over 👍

That's a fabulous photo Steve, I hope you have a great weekend 🙂👍
Nah you don't get a tattoo as the tattooist wouldn’t get their money's worth, another fussy customer 🙂 I can picture it now Jack walks into a tattoo shop" I need to see your full portfolio and check quality control before I commit to acquiring a tattoo. Let's negotiate a price?!"😵‍💫😵‍💫😆😆
🤣🤣👍
Lovin' your lambs in nature Steve. 👍🏻
+1😎👍

Love that jigging David 😎 Baxter used similar jigging, and while that doesn't mean too much, it might be worth comparing 🤷‍♂️👍
Looking very seasonal Pete 🙂👍
Gracias Jack. Can you refresh my memory on what wood is on the 19?
Desert Ironwood Dwight 👍

Thank you kindly Bob. 😎

Just wrapped another long week. Made some progress on a few projects and came home a couple hours early. The wife let me sit in complete silence for a bit. 🤣🤣🤣🤜🏻🤛🏻
😁👍
Great story Jack.
Thanks pal, a lifetime ago now🙂👍

Time for me to put the Congress away for a while and get this awesome Wrights broken in and beat up a little bit.

Doctors didn't go well
Sorry for your troubles and I hope it turns around for you, be well!
Well, I have been following this thread for a little while and find that the lambsfoot knife has really piqued my interest. I finally figured out where to find one. I ordered a Michael May in bog oak, and it just showed up in today’s mail.
First impressions- it appears to be pretty fantastic for the money! I’m used to paying GEC money traditional knives lately, so this seems like a bargain so far. Let me know what you Guardians think of my first lambsfoot!
Thank you!

Isn't this the truth! Haha. Usually 5 days is a long time for me as well.
Got four new Lambs in today.
Whew! Have fun with your haul!
Awwwwwwww naw. I miss my garden but surely do not miss those temps. Perfectly happy with 30-50f lol.

Looks good Rick
Jack Black Jack Black I've noticed that the filework on my two Wrights knives is very similar to the pattern on your Stan Shaw knife. Is this coincidence? A common design? Stan Shaw inspiration? It has me curious. They are not exactly the same... But close enough to raise an eyebrow for sure.

A Wrights above, Stan Shaw Lamb shown in this link here
Stan liked to add a few more Maltese crosses, he could do them in seconds, but file-work, both on spring-backs, and blades goes way back before Stan. It hasn't stopped a few shysters trying to pass off contemporary A. Wright knives as Stan's since he passed away  I'm not sure when Wright's started using file-work, but possibly when they started doing their badly-named 'Senator' pattern. A former local vendor claims to have both conceived and named the pattern, while Wright's current owner makes the same claim. I know both of them well, and suspect that the vendor wanted a fancier knife to sell, and Stan's knives may have been an indirect influence, but maybe no more than that. A couple of more pics of the file-work on my Stan Shaw Lambsfoot, which covers the entire back-spring from well to tang, and extends down along the top of the blade :)

Definitely Mitch :) Hope you're pleased with them :)

Good morning Guardians, Christmas seems to be bearing down like a 10-ton truck, and I go away a week before that, so no shortage of things to do  Heavy rain is forecast all day here, so I think we'll probably end up in one of the local museums, unless Matt has any ideas. I'm sure we'll get some lunch somewhere anyway :) I hope everyone has a great weekend, and that it's better weather where you are :)
