Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

New lamb day!!!!!! My first TEW. This one will be going to Glenn. I cannot stand the plastic covers. Nice to have a larger lamb though. Blade is full and overall it great shape.

Regular work day. Winter is so slow at work here. Just park in one of my secret hideout spots and relax.

Alot of character in your lamb already.👌

Here's my experience with camels
In 94 I was between jobs. A farrier friend of mine who handled animals for a guy up north of us when things were slow in the winter. This guy supplied animals for Hollywood, Vegas, Atlantic City for movies, shows ect.. Friend wanted to know if I'd help him with the animals over at Branson as the Rockettes were going to Branson to do their Christmas show first time outside NYC. Sure ain't got nothing else to do. Didn't pay much but might be a good big adventure. After we get over to Branson and set up. The next morning while tending to the animals some folks from the show show up and told us to be at a certain room in the Grand Palace to be fitted for costumes. I looked at my friend and asked what was going on he said I don't know but I will find out. Seem we had to be in the show to handle the animals. No lines just handle the animals. I was told I was one of the three wise men and handled a camel named Altus so for the next three weeks or so. I did three or four shows a day. Leading Altus on stage holding her in place then off stage. Now I've never been around a camel before on my life. Altus was an interesting camel her personality was like a cross between a horse and a dog. I came to like the camels we had in the show.
That is a great tale David! 👍 Wonder where Altus is today...

That's great news David :) I hope you continue to feel better, and that you don't have to do too much chasing about  Great to see Ethan :)

Handsome Mitch

I find it fascinating how the pattern just suddenly appears, and the next thing, all those different firms were making it, with most apparently just for domestic use :) Very cool pic buddy :)

🤣

:cool::):thumbsup:

There's a fish and chip shop at the bottom of my street, and when I first lived here, it was staffed by two notoriously brusque Jamaican ladies. A lot of the young folks were terrified of them, but they were always OK with me. However, there was a moment, when they were wrapping up the orders, where they would pause for the briefest time, and you were expected to know what to do, otherwise you'd get shouted at: "Ya wan' salt an' vinegar?!" :D

🤣

Go to it Mitch :)

As Jack says, trade seems to have been relatively unaffected by the American Revolution. It's also worth noting that, in Sheffield, popular sentiment was very much on the American side. The problem with the Lambsfoot was that it came along a bit late in the day, and the reason for the failure to export to America is probably to do with the introduction of US import tariffs in the late 19th century

Bloody sailors! ;)

That's interesting Jack. I do like to try new things, (more when I was younger), but camel is something I think I'm unlikely to come across on the menu. You never know though, so I appreciate your thoughts ;)

🤣

Sorry to see that edge Bob :(

Good morning Guardians, you've been very busy while I've been asleep! :D I thought I'd better get up early! ;) Hope everyone is doing alright :) Great to hear that David is out of hospital now :) I have plenty to do still, not least editing those photographs! Carrying my 2017 Guardians SFO, a shame we couldn't have had one every year :( Have a great day Guardians

I always love seeing that incredible horn Jack. Might just be the all-time greatest.

Mitch is your postal system privatized or run by the govt?
Dwight
Government but in some areas they sub contract and a store might add it to their business.
Our local was in the local news agents, where you buy your newspapers lottery tickets etc. It shut up shop too.
The 1 next suburb over was a proper post office in a shopping centre(mall).
The thing is back in about November they opened a new big parcel handling warehouse for our region. All over the news but no mention of closures. It's like banks closing, you could pay your bills at the post office as an alternative to online. Makes it harder for those that don't bank on line or just want to send a knife. I used to just walk to the post office, not anymore.

Great story buddy ! 🤠👍

I tried to find a video on YouTube, but could only find things from news stories and such, and in those they’re a bit friendlier than I remember. 🤣

It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it. 😁

You might have to find new ways to look busy. 😉

Is that worse than crashing? 😉🤣

I doubt it. I don’t think they’ve had much more real winter so far down his way than we’ve had here.

I’m sure Abdul has seen worse. 😉 I guess the downside to the potentially lucrative camel business is you have to smell camels all day. 🤣

Thanks, Jack. I guess they can’t all be winners. I’ve never tried making my own BBQ sauce.

Hey, sometimes the place with that kind of service have the best food. 🙂

Great shot of your 2017 Guardians Lamb. Some seriously good horn on those!

That's some pretty cool horn you have Barrett!
Good morning, folks. I'm carrying an old friend today.

Sounds like a mess. All things considered, I'd say our postal service is still operating pretty well. Since they are the only game in town their service is a bit slow and they have to work with less than state-of-the-art computer systems but I can't really complain about them. "Knock on wood" - I've never had a package lost. Yeah... I know... that wasn't very smart to say ...

Great to see you here Dylan, fine shot of your AC 😎👍

Gorgeous AC Dylan.

Thank you, fellas. It's been a spell since I've carried her but it's nice to remember a knife well loved. It remains one of my favorites from Jack.

Well I snatched another one of Harvey's beauties from the jaws of oblivion and brought it back home. It is a special lamb. But much more so to me because Harvey once cherished it and shared it with us.

I was thinking about Harvey the other day, his presence is surely missed. Good on you for salvaging that beauty and sharing it anew - I remember it fondly.

😀 yeah it is & I forgot to mention aus post doesn't deliver on weekends 🥺

Strange year 👍

Tell me about it. We just found out that they’ve cancelled the sled dog race on Lake Minnetonka this year, which was scheduled for February 3rd. 🙁

That's mate, yours is a great example 😊👍
You have such a fine coat on your lamb Barrett, I want to say beautiful feathering, instead of grain.👍🏻

Thanks, gents. I don’t get that one out often enough. (Heck, I didn’t even get it out for that pic; that’s from back when I first got it.)

Great story! 😁 We used to visit Branson often when I was a kid in the 90s. It was a short drive from where we lived in NW Arkansas.

That’s a beauty, Dwight, and special, too!

Eleanor starts school back tomorrow. I’m not sure why they’re making them go back on a Thursday rather than just waiting until next Monday, plus she didn’t get out for Christmas until the 22nd, so it’s been a short break. That said, we seem to get extra long summer breaks, so that’s nice.

Anyways, we decided to drive down to Mankato for her last day of freedom, and have lunch at one of our favorite places from back home. I changed up my Lambsfoot carry and pocketed (in a slip) my Ironwood Damascus Guardians Lambsfoot, which was a gift from Jack Black Jack Black (thanks again, Jack!).

Unfortunately I didn’t get any closeup pics of the Damascus Lamb, so I guess I’ll just have to carry it again tomorrow.

For some reason, Google Maps took us a different direction than normal, which involved more back roads through farm country (but got us there in the usual amount of time), and took us by what claimed to be Minnesota’s best cheese shop. We’re currently pretty well stocked up on cheese, so we didn’t stop to buy anything, but we did take a pic of their 20 foot tall cow. 🐄

Hope Eleanor enjoys school. The kids here don't go back till the end of January.
