Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians. Had a cold round of golf yesterday - started off at 39 degrees F. But it warmed up to a balmy fifty. Despite all that I played well. Don't understand it because I hate playing in the cold. Why did I go out? Probably a mix of stupidity and desire. Geez, that sounds like a book title of one of those crazy love paperbacks! 😂 Today is warming up to the mid-50' and looking forward to my daily stroll around the neighborhood. I just received my latest addition and decided to share a photo of it.

It's a dandy Bill!
That must have been a nice surprise David :)
Thanks Jack! It sure was. It's 15° here at the moment. Sun popping out once in a while. Hope it's warmer for the rest of the Guardians! Got a good report from the doctor yesterday.

Good morning Guardians and happy Friday !

We are in the freezer here today with a wind chill of -10° F 🥶

Carrying this Albert Oates that was one of Harvey's. I had to knock the shine off the balde a bit as it had been overbuffed and looked out of place to me for the age of the knife.

The Jameos del Agua is another Cesar Manrique creation, which uses the natural landscape as the basis for something truly spectacular. Unfortunately, the contrasting bright sunshine, and deep shade, were far too much for my camera, and my photos do not do it justice, to any extent :(

One could easily spend half a day here, but sadly, we only had 35 minutes, which only allowed for the most cursory visit. We descended down a steep spiral staircase of volcanic rock, to a platform, where there is a cafe/bar, and then continued, over less steep terrain to the edge of a lagoon within the collapsed volcano.

A narrow path leads along the edge of the water, and through the mountain. In the water, tiny white albino crabs can be seen, which are thought to be unique to this place.

At first, the far bank of the lagoon, appears to mirror the other, with another cafe area, and beautifully-crafted steps, but there is also a visually stunning pool, though visitors should be aware that swimming in the bright, azure waters, could lead to a 10,000 Euro fine!

Both adults and children seemed spellbound by the place, as if they were in Wonka's chocolate factory :)

More elegant steps lead to the galleries back at ground level, and outside there are views out across the sea.

Yay! Pigs in Blankets! :D I wish I'd made some for my tea now, didn't get any this year with being away! 😭 Fantastic pic Barrett :)

That's great news about the doc David :)

Yikes! 🥶 Lovely Lamb my friend :) Sadly, I often find that the damage to a knife has not come from years of use or misuse, but from the relatively short time it has spent in the hands of a stupid market trader, or so-called 'antique dealer! 😡

Jack Black Jack Black your pictures make me want to go to Lanzarote, your words make me want to skip that particular tour package.
Thank you Tyson, I think it's a wonderful place to visit, but that particular tour is best avoided :( If I could turn back the clock, I'd book a larger number of separate excursions, and hopefully, with a better company

Beautiful! To bad the tour wasn't the best.
Thanks David :) Last year, on my trip to Fuerteventura, my tour was scuppered completely, by a last minute cancellation :( At least I got to see SOME of Lanzarote :)

Sweetness with an attitude. Congrats Bill.👍🏻

Most lambsfoot knives that I'm aware of have swayback frames; the HHB and a few others are what I would probably call swell-end, but I think the English call them 'candle-end'. The GEC 88 was sowbelly. I've see a few swell-center ("Coke bottle") lambsfeet. How about serpentine frames? Or any other odd varieties - sleeveboard, equal end, canoe, etc.

I have a barlow & coffin lamb Tyson. I also have a shadow lamb coming.
There are 3 more types to ponder.
I think the popularity of the lamb is fortifying the creativity of the cutlers.
The explosion of different scales is also refreshing to see.

Now, whether all this change is good becomes a personal issue.

Outstanding Barrett.👌

Thanks, guys!

They were tasty, Jack. The sausages probably aren’t quite authentic for British pigs in blankets (I don’t know if you all have “little smokies” there, but that’s what I use). They still make for a pretty good pig in a blanket, though, at least in my opinion. We made some at Christmas, and still had a few little smokies leftover, so I figured Scout and I ought to finish ‘em off. 😁
