Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Yep, the most dangerous thing you can do with a knife is photography! o_O  Hope it didn't bite you too badly Dave
haha, I know eh, it's because your focus is on the photo, not the knife, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :p:D

Good excuse my friend, I'll remember that one ;) :)

Yeah, lighting and background colour can make a huge difference

Gentlemen, I would like to dip my toe into the Lambsfoot pond, but I don't know where to start. Could one of you kind Guardians point me in the right direction? What's a good model to start collecting/using and where can they be sourced? Many thanks.

Hi Dave,

I'm afraid we can't discuss sourcing, and since you aren't a paid member, it isn't possible to send you a 'Private Message'. If you want to post your email address here, I don't mind emailing you, and you can delete your email address afterwards. Alternatively, have a look through this thread, and that'll give you an idea of what to look out for

I haven't had a chance to wade through that photoshop thread yet, GT, so maybe it's been done, but I've been thinking. If GEC were to decide to make a Lambsfoot blade, which existing pattern would be the best fit? I imagine the #47 is the closest to the standard swayback.

Looked at the photoshopped pics, and they look all wrong. If a lambsfoot blade is to be put in a trapper, it has to replace the castrater blade, NOT the clip. The trapper clip is one of the coolest of them all. I like the Case wharncliff trappers.
The #47 looks like it would work. Don't have any GEC knives yet. May get some, but my next few lambsfoots will probably come from Sheffield. Need a rosewood, and maybe an ebony.

Darren (@waverave) made up some Photoshop examples of a knife I "invented" containing a lambsfoot blade. I thought they were fascinating, but they're not real, so I don't know if they're appropriate here. Please let me know if I should get rid of this post.

- GT

Real enough GT, W Jno Baker had them made up in Sheffield, probably by Taylor's Eye Witness for the Australian market
