Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

A wonderful day off. Enjoying a pipe and soaking in the sun. 36 degrees out but compared to a normal winter, it might as well be summer 🤣. HHB is keeping me company.

Sounds great Paul, nice photo :)
Nice pic of your HHB !
Thank you Steve :)
Jack
It happens everywhere these days.
The bureaucracy and procedures of institutions is more important than the service to be provided..
I believe it mate :(
Sounds fun. 😎👍
Thanks Todd :) Unfortunately, the weather is rotten, so I'll have to check with Matt if he still wants to go out :( We seem to have had a solid year of rain :(
Looking the business!
Excellent photo of that terrific TEW Steve
Afternoon all.
Fed the lamb earlier🙂
Thunderstorm has just hit, have to sit with the dog now, he doesn't like storms.

Hope there was no damage Mitch, to property, Lamb, or pooch

Good morning Guardians, I'm very disappointed with the weather here, as I've been looking forward to getting out. It's been raining all night again, and the forecast for the rest of the day isn't good. I'll have to say what my mate thinks. I never minded rain as a kid, but who knows? It certainly isn't going to be the best weather for slingshot shooting, and taking photos though :( Have a good day everyone

Sorry about the gloomy weather for you Jack. Makes one really appreciate it when the sun breaks through. Great photo of your ALFK and I love the background tweed. Forgot to mention a while back that when I was attending a Super Bowl party I happened to place my drink on this coaster. Tuns out my friend's wife is from Sheffield.

Good morning Guardians. Sunny morning and a good one for a deathly breakfast and a stroll around our Lake Osprey with my HHB.

Water, eh? Can't live with it, can't live without it.

Yeah we have the chickens about $7aud. At most supermarkets $12. So I'll get 1 if I go.
The cafe is cheap, I've tried the chips and pizza, pizzas are huge! I do like the cheap drink with free refills on a hot day.
Nice picture too mate.

Thanks, Mitch. It’s the same here, a rotisserie chicken at any other grocery store cost significantly more, and they’re usually smaller. Is it true you can grab a sausage outside the big hardware stores over there? 😁

That sounds pretty good Barrett, I have seen the chickens mentioned here on The Porch before :) Costco certainly wasn't like that when I last visited! :D There's every chance it's changed, mitch13 mitch13 's post suggests there's an international model, but while I hear folks talking about IKEA's meatball's, even on the radio, I have never heard anyone here talking about Costco's chicken or hotdogs. A Google search confirmed their UK branches do sell rotisserie chicken, but there seems to be less of a fuss about them, maybe they aren't as good value as in the US - or it might be tight-fisted Yorkshiremen! :D

I used to go there years ago, mainly to buy large quantities of beer for parties and barbecues, but then the prices rose to the point it was just as cheap to go to the local supermarket. Maybe I missed part of the place, but I certainly didn't see a restaurant. During the lockdown here, all the supermarket deliveries were booked up, but I found I could get deliveries from Costco, though their grocery range was limited to cans and other long life products. I'm still using the canned tomatoes! :D Hisham at Charlie's Cafe uses Costco, so I'll try and remember to ask him about the chickens

Yeah, their beer and liquor prices are ok. You might save a little compared to the liquor store, but not a lot, and the selection is limited. Also, due to state laws here in Minnesota, all the alcohol has to be completely separated from the rest of the store, basically in its own little shop off the side with a separate entrance, checkouts, etc.

Always liked that pic!

Thanks, Jack.

Today's big pork butt on the barbie day.

View attachment 2494013

I love a good pork butt! 😁 That’s my go-to protein on the smoker. I still need to try my hand at a brisket, just feels like more of a commitment.

Thanks, Barrett. Agreed 100%. I wasn't counting on being able to acquire one, nor was I actively looking, but patience is a virtue I sometimes possess in abundance and it helps to have good buddies too. It's wonderful to see the Lambsfoot become so popular. I'm grateful for the collection I have cultivated before the demand soared.

Nice pic, Paul. HHB looks great as always, and that’s a good looking Savinelli.

I posted these pics over in the totin’ thread already, but as they contain a Lambsfoot, I’ll post them here, too. This is Eleanor’s Valentine’s box for school that we worked on together over the weekend, The Monster Book of Monsters from Harry Potter.

Always nice to come across a fellow pipe smoker.

Beautiful photo Dylan. Nice to see you posting again. 😎👍

Thank you, my friend. A break now and then is good for the soul.

Thanks, Barrett. Yep, I plan on attending. I'm not sure which day yet, it will depend on my dad's availability since it's something we like to do together.

It's raining like crazy right now so an old pic will have to suffice. This one is for Paul's benefit. 😁

I hope everyone is having a good day :) The kids took a bit of motivating at first, but ended up enjoying the hike, even though the weather didn't improve. It was really muddy though. We had a good slingshot session, and Matt and Cillian are definitely getting better :) By the time we got to the pub for lunch it was 1.30pm, and we were hungry. It wasn't that busy, so when we asked for some lunch menus, we were surprised to be told the kitchen were running an hour behind. The pub do really good traditional (cooked in beef dripping) chips, so we thought it'd save time if we just ordered chips. They came 1 1/2 hours later, with the pub completely empty by that time. I really don't know what on earth was going on, I can only think that the people who run the pub are away on holiday or something. It didn't spoil the day though, and after getting home, I compensated with a good fry-up ;) :D

No damage, only lasted a couple of hours.
The day before Victoria had major storms, destroyed power poles 500,000 homes & businesses without power, apparently still over a 100,000 without and could be awhile.

Yep the chickens are bigger.
Yep of a weekend bunnngs hardware., let's community groups fund raise by having a sausage sizzle. So you can get a sausage sandwich with onoin for $3.50. All money goes to the group running it.

Great work on the monster book. Remember you must stroke the spine😉

Thanks, Jack! Looks like a nice day, despite the weather. I know in today's modern age, takeout and food delivery services like GrubHub and DoorDash can occupy the services of an ordinarily quiet establishment. I don't know what kind of options are available where you are at but it might explain the pub being busy despite not appearing to be so.

Yeah, I could have eaten one or two more, but Wolfie starts getting antsy if he's enjoying himself for more than half and hour, rather than doing SWMBO's bidding! ;)

I hope you have a lovely time Todd :)

Strangely, I don't see those anymore :(

Beautiful vintage TEW Steve

I hadn't even thought of that Dwight, that's a pretty good idea

That's a sweet one Dwight  Enjoy your barbie buddy :)

It's half-term here this week, which means that a number of my friends aren't working this week, so tomorrow I'm going for a hike with my mate Matt, and his kids :) Grim Reaper is coming too ;)

Thank you, Dwight. That burl on your Albers is stunning! Eric knows how to pick some nice woods for his knives
Dwight, you have some very nice customs and this one is no exception with such an interesting configuration
Many thanks Dylan!
Sharing a small swayback lamb made recently by Kerry Hampton. A less traditional take on the pattern, but a neat little knife nonetheless!

Hampton is an exceptional knife maker. That is simply gorgeous! Everything about that lamb is exquisite. The swage, the kant, the kick, stag, shield, swayback, nail nick and such crisp edges! WowZZZaa!

Thanks pal, yes, I have been in quite a few restaurants affected like that. This is just a small pub on the edge of Leeds though, and I don't think they do any kind of takeaway service. Heck, their in-house service is bad enough! 🤣 It was nice to get out into the fresh air, but trudging through the mud, in the drizzle, was a bit of a slog. I was also disturbed to see that the river was a strange-looking colour. We followed it all the way up the beck, and it just got worse, it looked to be some kind of pollution from farming. Sadly, it is endemic here these days :(
