LOL!Sounds like my kind of place Todd
I remember, when I had just decided to move to Leeds 20-odd years ago, I ended up boozing with some younger friends, and someone told me, "In Leeds, the weekend starts on WEDNESDAY!"
It did back then too
Hard to believe it's July here too buddy, I just put my heating on!
Thanks a lot Dwight![]()
That's a stunning pic, and a very cool coin there with your '19![]()

I hope the rest of the week is as good as that Steve![]()
Good luck at the docs DavidNice pocket choice
I hope everyone is having a good dayI was up early, to get some work done, before I met up with Eve, at a coffee shop about a mile up the road. Her and her boyfriend, Chris, have just got back from 10 days in the USA, visiting New York, Chicago, Cincinnati, and Kentucky, and they had a good time. Strangely, they bumped into David Letterman TWICE, once in the street in New York, and again at the Indy 500
I guess the US is smaller than I'd figured!
After having coffee, we headed over to a favourite cafe in one of Leeds' satellite towns, but by the time we got there it was raining. Fortunately, there were free tables, as the place gets pretty busy. I had a Philly cheesesteak sub, something I've never tried before. The sub was nearly as big as my forearm, and came with a huge pile of fat-cut chips, and a mountain of coleslaw, which was way beyond me
It was raining even worse outside, after we'd finished, and with all the Leeds' museums closed on Monday, we were struggling to think of something to do. We ended up heading to another local suburb, and visiting a bookshop there, then grabbing another coffee
Since getting back home, I've managed to get a bit more work done, but my internet connection has been terrible again
I certainly won't be eating this evening!

Howdy gents,
The past two months have been pretty rough over in this pasture and there hasn't been much time for keeping up with the forums. I've had plenty of lambs in my pockets, but less opportunity for pictures and updates.
My longtime sweetie's mom passed away after a protracted bout with dementia. Immediately after the memorial, I came down with some kind of awful cold, likely acquired in the hospital. The day I started feeling mostly human again, the rains began. Rain of biblical proportions. And not only rain, hail too - I don't think there's anything as unabashedly bewildered as a life-long resident of the tropics seeing ice fall from the sky. Dark days, in more ways than one.
I can't fathom all I've missed, and imagine that "catching up" with the conversation here will probably be a lifelong endeavor - to which I look forward eagerly.
For now, I must ask you to be satisfied with a recent and rare for me (still looking for a full-time gig...) acquisition. For your consideration, a C. Johnson Western Works "LAMB FOOT KNIFE" (but not a "REAL" one apparently). "REAL" or not, I dig that stag and those groovy bolsters. I haven't cleaned it up yet and if you look close, you can see the blade stamp is filled with crusty, unidentified mung that seems to have made it's way on to the covers as well.

Clearly well loved, the tip is not proud when closed and the covers are free of any cracks or other defects. She's got a touch of side-to-side blade play (completely forgivable at her age of ??? and honestly I'm surprised it isn't worse than it is). The action is unbelievable - a crisp and glassy 6.5 with a half stop. I'd be hard-pressed to find a knife in my horde with a smoother or more lively action.
It's hard to make out, but it looks like the pile-side tang is stamped "HAND FORGED." I'll try to get some better pics tomorrow, the good lord willing and the creek (formerly known as "the street I live on") don't rise!
Hey - what's the haps with Tool Man? I think I'm having withdrawals...![]()

LOL!Ah yes, the big fourโฆ![]()
Yeah, Eve was telling me about the racing connection, he was with his team, so not very surprising. In New York, he was just walking down the street. I said, I wasn't sure I'd recognise him in the street, I'd just think it was a guy who looked a bit like David Letterman, but apparently lots of people were saying Hi to him. Considerably less weird than some of my own celebrity encounters!Thatโs funny. The Indy 500 is probably the most likely place to run into Letterman, heโs from Indianapolis and is a big racing guy. He was my dadโs favorite talk show host. Hereโs a pic I posted here a couple years ago. Had a bit of a mishap trying to take a pic with my HHB. (Probably for the best, Iโd clearly put too much milk in that tea anyways.) The mug was my dadโs.

Thanks buddy, it was a nice dayVery kind of you mate.Sounds like you and Eve had a great afternoon!
