Thanks for the reply Jack. Here’s a link to some close ups. My grandfather was born in 1901, and grew up in Kentucky. I’m really curious as to the age of the knife. I’ve got a new Albers in ironwood coming next week, so I’d like to be in the group!I'm glad you have your grandfather's knife, he had good tasteThe Lambsfoot is Sheffield's most common pattern, made by hundreds of Sheffield cutlery firms, and over the years, hundreds of thousands of Sheffield knives have been made with that same generic tang stamp, they still are today. Sometimes, you can make an informed guess as to the maker, in this case though, I don't think that's possible. Lambsfoot knives only date back as far as the late 19th century, but the things that help date a knife, apart from style, and construction type, are hard to determine without a thorough examination of it. Dating it may be easier by thinking about your grandfather's life, when he was born, and where he lived, and any other information you have about the knife, and his use of it. It would be nice to see some more photos
It's looking nicely lived in Ken![]()

Yesterday was strikingly beautiful, with bright sun, a low high temperature, and a strong cool breeze that felt like you could soak it up and fly with it.
Thanks Steve, me tooCool picture Jack ! I hope that the unrest is over for you there![]()
Hope you manage OK BillGood morning Guardians. Most of the tropical storm has passed us but we will still have some left-over rain showers here and there. Got some cardboard boxes to break down with the help of my trusty HHB.

Incredible JeremyJack the ruins are believed to be a Pueblo Native American astral observatory. The stone construction style is “Chaco” who were a tribe from about 90 miles away. It was really interesting. Let me see what other photos I can post on it. There is a river in the valley below the Mesa where they lived and farmed.
Cool pic KurtGood Saturday to you. I’ve been enjoying the fine pictures. Here’s my lambsfoot for today.

Fascinating GaryThis is the last day of Man Jack's current turn as Lambsfoot of the Week for me. I'll post another photo of Man Jack at Aquinas College, a Catholic school near where I live. The campus was originally the estate of a "lumber baron" and his wife whose philanthropy established the first 2 hospitals in Grand Rapids, MI. The original Tudor-style manor house of the estate is still used for college administrative and faculty offices, I think. Note in the first photo that there are stone lions lying on either side of the central entryway, and there's a grayish rectangular plaque near the first floor windows at the right of the photo.

Here's Man Jack with a close-up of the historical plaque:

And here's Man Jack lying fearlessly on a lion's paws. (The lions are named Patience and Fortitude, but I don't remember which is which.)
