Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

One of my favorite parts of previous Guardians SFOs was the group pics Jack would take of all the knives together. I posted one that I took of the 2024 Guardians knives in my post the other day, but now that the knives are arriving at their destinations and you guys are sharing your great pics of them here, I can initiate Step 2 of the Guardians SFO group pic tradition: finding members’ knives in the group pic!

Here’s an example from the 2019 Ironwood Guardians knives:

8lcDd0J.jpg

And here’s the blank photo I started off with for this years:

jgACZSl.jpg

I went ahead and identified what I could so far based on the pics that y’all have posted, but if you could, please check the blank photo above to make sure I got yours right, especially if your knife doesn’t have any dark spots on the front. There does seem to be enough variation in the texture and grain of the micarta to be able to identify these, but I had to look pretty closely in some cases, and it may be easier for you do with your knife in hand.

Mine appears to be correct sir! The patterning on the covers are like your finger prints! One unique patterning to each! Love it!

Wow, that's a lot of beans! I originally came up with a higher number and thought, 'no way'. Congrats to CelloDan CelloDan and you too, Bob, for such a generous GAW! Good to have you here on the forums!
Beautiful grain!

Nice '19 !
Thank you both!

The excitement doesn’t end here in the Guardians thread! (Well, ok, this part’s mostly just exciting for me, but still…)

Today I received a package from Jack Black Jack Black — my winnings from the Yorkshire Day Chip Butty GAW! As always, Jack put together a great package! In addition to the TEW Yorkshire Lambsfoot, there was an awesome Henderson’s Relish hat 😁, an interesting old book on Yorkshire Legends and Folk Lore, a pin, keychain, postcard, sticker, map and lots of chocolates!

Thank you, Jack! I really appreciate it!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
That is so awesome Barrett, aren’t Jacks packages just amazing.
Well done Jack 😍

You must be awaiting the mailman with some anticipation. ;)
I checked the tracking this morning Leon, and it indicated that the item had just arrived in the country, and was being processed. I went out to the post office, and while I was out, they tried to deliver it! 😖 The good news is, I should have it by lunchtime tomorrow :)
Are these Yorkshire roses? When I hunted buffalo a few years back our guide was a Brit and had a tattoo of a rose which he said was a Yorkshire rose. Looks very much the same.

I do love history and have read a bit on the war of the roses but can’t remember which belongs where.
It's a common tattoo Jack :) As you know, the War of Roses were complex, and while the House of York had a white rose, and the House of Lancaster, a red one, both sides were supported in Yorkshire

Thanks Jack
It was alright, beautiful day about 71f and not a cloud in the sky 😀
Have a great day!
Sounds perfect Mitch :) Thank you my friend
Pal is looking good Jack. Hope he has a friend come visiting soon.😁
Thank you very much Bob :)
Wonderful photos of your Grim Reaper :) I have been posting here a long time, and I have seen lots of mushroom pics before, but I think the top pic may well be a first :)
Bob it will be alright. Hopefully I'll get some good chillis.
Reapers? :D ;)
Nice Jer :)
In todays mail a water bottle to go along with my 18th century hunting kit. Glass bottle protected by hand stitched veg tanned leather. The craftsman was a lady based in Czech and has done a wonderful job.

Thanks Steve :)

I didn’t get a chance to post this yesterday because Postie Mike is on vacation and his replacement letter carrier didn’t come until after 7 my time. There’s not a lot of superlatives that I can add that haven’t already been said. So I will just thank Barrett Brown btb01 btb01 for giving me the opportunity to own a truly amazing knife! Of course shout outs to Eric Albers and our great founder Jack Black for their participation. 🙏😀

So cool! :)
No Dwight it's not. That pic is the front cover of a book called Oilfield Trash. I have worked derricks. I use to really like working derricks. Started out in the oilfield as a backup hand ended up a driller. I enjoyed my time in the oilfield.

Very interesting David :) The nearest I've been to the oil game, apart from being friends with a one-time olive oil importer, is Barry The Original Ted's tales of his oil-drilling adventures in South America in the 60's. I did once know a bloke called Derek though :D ;)
I couldn't agree more with the part of your comment I highlighted in red. It's what's kept me from posting here.... That said, I think I'll try to post more often. With my availability, it will be erratic. I hope no one will take offense if I somehow fail to respond or acknowledge them!
As we say in Yorkshire: "Be reight!" :D ;)
Wow! Thanks for digging out that photo of the Jack Black Jack Black Ironwood SFO's. I still have mine, a jewel in my knife collection. Don't have it with me at the moment, so an older pic for now.

Barrett, the micarta on those turned out really well. I like how the weave is in different directions on every knife. Probably due to the fact that it was from a round source. 👍
Nice to see that one mate :)
Pals 🐑 is such a great 🐑👍🤠 Hopefully carnival week will have some good weather.
Thank you David, it means a lot to me :) Carnival usually starts off Friday evening, and runs through to Monday evening :)
You're welcome, Jack; it's fascinating to see how the pace of the thread has accelerated over time.:cool::thumbsup:
I didn't notice a typo in your post; there were several recent posts in which Guardians remarked on how fast the thread was moving, and I happened to quote your reply to Dylan's comment about pace as a typical example.

Here's a photo of Black Jack 6 years ago on a cottage windowsill along Lake Huron, but it's not the cottage we're renting this year.

Great to see you here Paul, I'm really enjoying seeing 'old' Guardians call in this week :)
A sunny morning here. I enjoyed my walk and took the GL-24 out for the first time. That micarta is beautiful and full of character. Here’s the pile side.

Thank you so much Bob for such a generous GAW !!!
It is a beautiful knife !
It will be a very treasured addition to my little flock of 🐑🐑
Thank you Guardians !

I'll drink up a cup brewed from what I guess were 341 beans  ... I hope it is not too strong 😊

I was just thinking about that run this morning Dan, lovely pic :)

I had just returned home to find I'd missed my delivery, when I got a text from a guy I don't see too often, but bumped into earlier, asking if I fancied a pint if I was still in town. I told him I was at home, but offered to meet him at our local. We hadn't been chatting long, when he began to tell me about having his heart broken, at the grand age of 52! He had had a friendship with a woman for the past 4 years, and they went to a local hippy festival together at the weekend, where he finally confessed his feelings for her. Unfortunately, within a few hours, she became entranced by some skate-boarder, with muscles and blond highlights  Obviously, while empathising, I spent a good deal of time, making him laugh, and advised him to sell his ticket for the Pixies gig they were going to next week, and not lock himself in his bedroom listening to Diana Ross tracks :D I just sent him a link to this ;) 🤣

I hope everyone is having a great day :) It feels like Christmas Eve here! :D:thumbsup:

Yeah, I enjoyed looking at the different grains and textures when I had ‘em all together. On some of them you can see where two pieces of fabric meet or overlap, with one going one direction, and one going another.

Looks great, Charlie! I like Winda’s beauty mark.

When I was doing a bit of research to try and find out how that micarta rod might have been used in an elevator, I came across a few images and videos of mid-century Polish elevators. I think I’d probably just take the stairs. 🤣

Thanks, Charlie. That’s definitely it — another fairly easy one to pick out of a lineup. 😁

Here’s the updated “roll call” group pic, with Charlie’s and few other members’ knives identified.

I dont know how to isolate the quote, but it is complicated regarding the war of the roses.

My last unit was the Royal Regiment of Fusilers (attached) we wore a hackle all the time.

On St.Georges day we wore red and white roses behind the cap badge, most where from Northumberland way (North East).

Note the bayonet,at a vets meeting the other day with Green Jackets (light infantry) they told me its called a sword with them,so many bits of history that hold us together.

In this contest I’ve learned that we’re all white pessimistic… at least in our guessing of number of coffee beans in a wine glass 😆 thanks for the GAW. Now I won’t clog up the thread further.
