Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

After an early morning run down to my P.O, meet Winda (pronounced Veen'-Dah!)!!
Winda is Polish for "elevator"😁, a nice feminine sounding name, for this great knife!
She's a lovely Gal, and she's enjoying my pocket as we speak!!:cool:

Thank you for a fun giveaway Bob 👍🏼

I checked the tracking this morning Leon, and it indicated that the item had just arrived in the country, and was being processed. I went out to the post office, and while I was out, they tried to deliver it! 😖 The good news is, I should have it by lunchtime tomorrow :) :thumbsup:

Hopefully your postman is punctual tomorrow. 🙂

I had just returned home to find I'd missed my delivery, when I got a text from a guy I don't see too often, but bumped into earlier, asking if I fancied a pint if I was still in town. I told him I was at home, but offered to meet him at our local. We hadn't been chatting long, when he began to tell me about having his heart broken, at the grand age of 52! :rolleyes: He had had a friendship with a woman for the past 4 years, and they went to a local hippy festival together at the weekend, where he finally confessed his feelings for her. Unfortunately, within a few hours, she became entranced by some skate-boarder, with muscles and blond highlights :eek: Obviously, while empathising, I spent a good deal of time, making him laugh, and advised him to sell his ticket for the Pixies gig they were going to next week, and not lock himself in his bedroom listening to Diana Ross tracks :D I just sent him a link to this ;) 🤣

I hope everyone is having a great day :) It feels like Christmas Eve here! :D:thumbsup:

That does happen. 😁

😁🤣

I don't usually name my pocket knives, but my wife suggested that I call my GL-24 "Otis". 😆 I think I like Winda better.

I like Otis — a fitting name! :thumbsup:

There is a lot I didnt know about traditionals when I joined here (though as a child I was carrying a U boat commanders locking sodbuster).

I didnt know about Barlows or Lambs foot knives.

I have skillfully combined the 2 here. 😁

Always a pleasure to see that one! 😎

Have you been to Germany,they can not pronounce W in any way. 🤣

Which war?

Ive mentioned Agincourt many times to our French cousins,the thing is the way we say it they cant understand (thank goodness). 🤣

Is that good or bad,I thought that was what you Diggers surfed on? 😁
You’ll have to excuse my drawly Aussie slang, I’ll attempt a translation.

Ripper = pearler
Pearler = Ridgey Didge
Ridge Didge = cracker
Cracker = mint
Mint = schmicko
Schmicko = stunna’
Stunna = beauty
Beauty = good.

I hope that clears it up for you 😂

Cool pic David :) :thumbsup:
When I was doing a bit of research to try and find out how that micarta rod might have been used in an elevator, I came across a few images and videos of mid-century Polish elevators. I think I’d probably just take the stairs. 🤣
🤣 :thumbsup:
Here’s the updated “roll call” group pic, with Charlie’s and few other members’ knives identified. :thumbsup:

Well done Barrett :) :thumbsup:
Very attractive Steve :) :thumbsup:
The only Otis I know of was on the Andy Griffith show 🤣

LOL! :D :thumbsup:
There is the great Otis Redding.😁
😎:):thumbsup:
I dont know how to isolate the quote,but it is complicated regarding the war of the roses.

My last unit was the Royal Regiment of Fusilers (attached) we wore a hackle all the time.

On St.Georges day we wore red and white roses behind the cap badge,most where from Northumberland way (North East).

Note the bayonet,at a vets meeting the other day with Green Jackets (light infantry) they told me its called a sword with them,so many bits of history that hold us together.

Fascinating John :) A fine body of fighting men :thumbsup:
In this contest I’ve learned that we’re all white pessimistic… at least in our guessing of number of coffee beans in a wine glass 😆 thanks for the GAW. Now I won’t clog up the thread further.
Having seen similar contests, there does seem to be a general tendency to UNDERestimate :thumbsup:

I don't think they come much better than that mate, if any, absolutely superb :thumbsup:
Hopefully your postman is punctual tomorrow. 🙂
He better be, I'll be standing at the end of the path, looking at my watch, and drumming my fingers on the gate-post! 😁:thumbsup:

The tale was quite unexpected, though I can imagine he's had his share of rejection! 🤣:thumbsup:

I didn’t get a chance to post this yesterday because Postie Mike is on vacation and his replacement letter carrier didn’t come until after 7 my time. There’s not a lot of superlatives that I can add that haven’t already been said. So I will just thank Barrett Brown btb01 btb01 for giving me the opportunity to own a truly amazing knife! Of course shout outs to Eric Albers and our great founder Jack Black for their participation. 🙏😀

After taking this picture I realized that a pile-side shot of a lamb, the most defining characteristic of which is the enchanting wood grain on its mark side, was bound to fall flat in the face of the excitement surrounding 100,000 posts, 5,000 pages, lambs dominating the conversation at high-society galas, GL-24, and an array of incredible lambfoot-based giveaways. Alas, here it is:

It is very nice too, but I don't expect anyone who has seen the other side to be overly impressed.

I wonder what kind of wood that is. Oak? Witch's broomstick? Off-cut from Brian May's fireplace mantle? I guess I'll just never know. Sure do wish these knives came with provenance.... or could talk.
