Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

A great day for the Guardians! Thanks to Jack and all who contribute here!
Dave

Thank you Dave, excellent pic of your rosewood Lambsfoot :)

BTW, commiserations to Barrett (@btb01) and yourself, who picked the 18th in my giveaway, and missed being finalists by the narrowest of margins

Yet another great pic of your spectacular AC Dylan :)

Thank you, Jack!

I decided to pair the 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot with my Knife of the Year

As I said a few pages back, I'll be going over to Sheffield tomorrow (one of the reasons I'm rushing around) to pick up a sample for the 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot, but that isn't the reason for my trip, nor will I be going to the factory alone. I'll be joined by another Guardian - Barrett @btb01 - who is flying into England for Christmas, and heading up to Sheffield to spend a day with me :) I think Barrett will already be on his way, so I'm wishing him and his family safe travels, and I'm very much looking forward to meeting him :)

Safe travels, Jack, and give our regards to Barrett. I am sure you lads will have a fantastic time.

Congratulations to Jack and all the fellow Guardians on reaching this special milestone. This is a quality thread with quality contributors and I am proud to be amongst you all.

I am carrying the first Lambsfoot that I bought myself. Originally being disappointed in its not-so-blackness, I've warmed to it considerably since then and consider it akin to an old friend.

I am really looking forward to it Dylan :) Barrett is already in Sheffield, and I'm hoping he gets a good night's sleep after such a long journey

I remember you first posting about that Lambsfoot Dylan, and am glad you have warmed to it my friend :)

For Wooden Wednesday, and this Impromptu Lambsfoot Day, I'm carrying my first lambsfoot, a large in rosewood, gifted to me by member @Nal0n.

Jf8IjBS.jpg

Perhaps we should unilaterally declare December 19th International Lambsfoot Day?!

Good choice Rachel, and well-done to @Nal0n for helping to bring you into the fold ;)

After completing this post, I found that it's too big, so I'll split it.

...maybe this ole bugger can learn the art of tai chi :)I'm thinking that would be a great exercise routine to develop.
You should give it a try, Dave!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

keeping with the golden horn theme today.

That's a keeper, Dave! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

...
Thank you GT, I do a lot of urban walking too, always have, but I have suffered with my feet these past 10 years. I still walk everywhere, but it's painful :(
...
for the last two sessions I had a different Physiotherapist. This worked out pretty well because she had suffered with long-term back problems herself, and gave me some really good advice. I was asking about one particular exercise, and she said she'd print me something off, but then returned with the little stick men drawings! :D

Thanks GT :) Great to see your Man Jack :)
...
If I had painful feet, I fear I'd think twice before walking. :( Amusing story about your stick men. :D:cool:
Thanks for remarking on my lambsfoot for this week, Jack. :)

...
Man Jack is looking fine this day.

He's thinking probably torn ligament. X-rays did show some small bone spur below shoulder plate also. Mri is coming up just as soon as insurance gives green light. Thanks for asking GT. It's just what comes with staying above ground. :)

Thanks, Dwight. :) As usual, your stag AC is a star in your pic!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I hope the MRI is informative (an approved), and leads to an effective treatment. My shoulders were starting to bother me a little, but I started doing rotator cuff rehab exercises (I didn't have the surgery, so I guess I turned them into "prehab" exercises) and that eventually reduced the inflammation/pain.:thumbsup:

I carry a lambsfoot...

...because sometimes I'm short of Christmas tree ornaments.

How 'bout you?
Superlative seasonal photo, Vince!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

indeed, watches! watches, knives, coins and harmonicas theyve always been hobbies! too many hobbies actually, well too much collecting lately left me with some hobby fatigue. A little restructuring will help with perspective.
Thanks for checking in @mrknife! :):thumbsup: Jack, is "hobby fatigue" a real thing that I have to worry about??:(

...
It is hard to not have this bit of Stag with me. A very pleasing knife.

bkz2qzH.jpg
Pleasing pic, both knife and pipe, Dylan!:thumbsup::cool: What's the bowl of the pipe made of? Looks like it has great texture; could it be adapted to make knife handles?? ;):cool:

...
p.s. Happy birthday!
Oh... and Happy Birthday GT ( 5K Qs 5K Qs ). I wasn't aware of it but Rachel says so... :)
 Happy Birthday GT
Happy Birthday GT!!!
Happy Birthday, GT!
To your health...

GT, Happy belated Birthday, my friend!!!!
...
I really appreciate the birthday greetings! :) Thanks, Rachel & Dwight & John & Taylor & Vince & Joshua & Jack & FBC (not late at all, Kevin ;)).:thumbsup:

Leslie, your May Lambsfoot is a gem!:cool::thumbsup: (Is that pepper jack cheese I see? I knew you were a man of excellent taste! ;))

Superb shot, Jody! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Congratulations to Jack and the Guardians on their 500 pages.
+5K to what John posted!:cool::thumbsup: It's like a quincentennial celebration, except with pages instead of years as the unit of measurement!!! :D

In the Julian calendar, today is December 21, the day I picked.
;)
If you compute total calculations and deduct for shenanigans it actually comes to Dec 20th.
Isn't it fascinating how you can use numbers to try to win friends and influence people?? :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Morning Guardians! :) :) :) :)

Hard to pick a knife to carry today, but I think I'm going to go with the first Guardians Lambsfoot knife :) Let's see your Lambsfoot knives folks

Jack, the fireworks image with which you opened your next to last post quoted here is what I'm reminded of when I see the mark side of your Guardians "Urjack"!:cool::thumbsup:;) And can you elaborate on that new Guardians "banner" with the extra image/text at the bottom, and I think a different lambsfoot knife image??

View attachment 1040458 View attachment 1040457 This has been great fun, Jack. :D If I hadn't discovered this great porch, with a great fellowship and of course the Lambsfoot I believe that I would have been mostly a lurker anywhere on Blade Forums. This group has helped me immensely in becoming a participant. Thank you, Jack, and all my friends for your welcoming and caring spirit.:)
Well-said, Dave, and thanks for all your daily contributions here!:thumbsup::thumbsup: It must be true that all that cold and snow in your environs builds character, because you're certainly a character! :p:D:thumbsup:

Of course, I won't just be carrying one Lambsfoot today ;) I might have to mull my choice over a bit..

What a totally stunning rogues' gallery of Lambsfoot knives you've honored us with as part of the 500-page milestone festivities, Jack!!:eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Fantastic that you and Barrett can spend some time together on Guardians Patrol, Jack! I'm sure a good time will be had by all (mixed in with a little envy for some of us ).:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Had beef Wellington for the first time last night (Dad's birthday- he'd have been 99).

Intriguing report, Jer :thumbsup::thumbsup:; I've never had beef Wellington, either. So it has no relation to Wellington boots at all?!?:eek::rolleyes:

Another stellar stag shot, Dwight, but this time, I have a hard time taking my eyes and mind off that toasty bagel!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::p

First posted in haiku thread:

Lambsfoot, who made thee,
With thy stellar Sambar stag?
Ashley, of A. Wright.

(With apologies to William Blake ;) )
I read this over in the other thread and thought it was touching, Vince!:thumbsup::)

Splendid knife, Dave! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Wow, Duane, that's a sensational lambsfoot you have there!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Is there a story that goes with it?

I have thought hard about what knives I should carry tomorrow, and what Barrett might like to see. I have a few in my bag, but the Lambsfoot in my pocket will be my new Albino ;)

Man, that Albino lights up the dark forest, Jack! Impressive carry!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Man Jack for me this week, and, fittingly for this day of celebration, it was my first lambsfoot. Here's a pic from when it first arrived back in September 2015:

GT thank you for you're commentary, without it, the forums would have a little less finish. I am sure that I am not the only one that appreciates the work you put into your illuminating of the posts.:thumbsup::D

Congratulations Russell, and thanks to Jack for all the fun we had.

Great news this morning of the drawing and congratulations Russell on the win! Jack the parade of magnificent lambs is breathtaking. I'm gonna start my on album of them if you don't mind. Dave you're a good egg my friend and this is a better place with you here. Looking forward to the 2019 lambs Jack and thank you for the drawing.

View attachment 1040523 Well, you were right, Jack: most of us were asleep when you started posting!

Congratulations again to you, and to Rusty1 Rusty1 for the win. Dave is a classy guy.

I follow a lot of threads in the traditional forum, but this is my favourite (using British spellings here!), and the only thread I've gone back to read from the beginning. The lambsfoot is a fascinating pattern, and a versatile knife. I've carried my Ashley's Choice most days since I received it, and love it (though I might be persuaded to trade it for your recent ivory-handled acquisition ;) ). Looking forward to my time here in the coming year.

Have a great day, fellow Guardians!

P.S. By the way, Jack, I've composed a haiku on the lambsfoot in the haiku thread. I think it's on the first page.

Congratulations Rusty1 Rusty1 , and thank you Jack for a fun giveaway!

Congrats Russell! Again congrats Jack! My 2018 guardian will be with me all day. Pics inbound!

Well please tell Barrett that there are likely some rather envious folks over here, not the least of which being myself :D. But yes, eat, drink, be merry. That's what I would do.

Pleasing pic, both knife and pipe, Dylan!:thumbsup::cool: What's the bowl of the pipe made of? Looks like it has great texture; could it be adapted to make knife handles?? ;):cool:

Thank you, GT. An interesting question. The pipe is made of briar and though I haven't heard if it being used for knives, I imagine it could be done and likely has. Unfinished briar is rather plain in its appearance though and would benefit greatly from the use of dyes and texturing.

Thank you all for the congrats guys.

Russell

I neglected to wish you a sincere congratulations. The 2018 ebony is an exceptional knife, I hope you get lots of enjoyment out of it. Many congratulations on your illustrious win!
