I've been on my PC since this morning, and now it's 8pm, and my back is aching, I'm flopped on the sofa with a mug of Yorkshire's finest (or perhaps second finest!) I have an early start in the morning, a trip over to Bradford, and a long day ahead, most likely, and I may not get a chance to check in, but I'll have my Guardians Lamb with me Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start

Thanks, I can finally house most of my knives in one place.

First thought is you need more knives

This old wood tool chest was my Dad's. He used it at work for years. Its was on my list to clean it up and use as knife storage. Unfortunately some critters have eaten a good portion of the bottom. Its still on the list, but it needs a lot more than a good cleaning.


Put all my lambs but one in the pic. I couldn't find it...wait I'm having a second thought (two in one day )...all knives in one place, hmmm....

It was given to me in 1980, and has never been serviced, gets wound up rarely, but keeps perfect time If my Cartier goes a few years without going in for a service, it stops working! I rarely wear either

I would recommend this version Jack. These are individually made in USA. They have a secondary line made in China, which are hit or miss.
This is cherry, they have oak and walnut also. ( forgive me...Gestner is the company).

Base is next.

Many thanks for that info my friend, and for distinguishing between the US and China-made versions. I had thought they were all made in the Far East today. I was thinking of getting one a few years back. Fortunately, I managed to find a store, which stocked them, rather than mail order. I have rarely seen such a piece of junk, the finish was appalling Yours is beautiful

Thanks Mike. That looks like an old Gerstner. They will supply parts as needed.
Having them refurbish it is more than a new one.
