Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

My Wee Staggie, shown with my lucky penny, which was 60 years old when I came into possession of it 50 years ago.
Happy New Year, Guardians!
Vince your Wee Staggie photo came out el perfecto.:p

:( Is that common? Any conjectures about what's happening?

I first noticed the roundhead cardinals last year, and all I got googling was somebody asking about them and somebody claiming that the photos of roundheads were just high-hats with their crests flattened. For a while I had the impression that the roundheads were out-numbering the high-hats, but I was just struck anew at seeing a roundhead the other day (so I'd forgotten about them, so they can't be that common).

It's only just occurred to me that they might be a different bird entirely. Also just occurred to me I should ask our local nature center or bird sanctuary. Duh.

I enjoyed your food prep pics, but is that a brain on the upper left of your cutting board??;):p

This week, the lambsfoot in my pocket is Black Jack, my 2018 ebony:

Haha GT nope it's a ball of dough, that was left over from the mince pies you see. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I was thinking I may use it for my eyeball pie I'm thinking of baking.... :D:D
Black Jack is looking mighty fine there. I think that close up of the backspring F&F on your Black Jack, and the picture of Jack Black's 2019 prototype has just persuaded me to go for the 2019 lambsfoot.

A great start to the year.

I'd say an excellent start to the New Year :thumbsup: You pleased with them?

Anyway, Hope all you Guardians have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
All the best.:)

It was a mixed bag. Both knives were made well enough. But while the lambsfoot was a nice surprise, the tackler was considerably less so. I was expecting a wharncliffe, but the blade is sheepsfoot.

Apologies for my absence folks. One of my Christmas guests left me with a rather nasty norovirus :( Happy New Year Guardians :

Hope you feel better Jack. I seem to have caught something as well this Christmas. :(

You certainly have an excellent, and recognizable, AC, Joshua!:cool::thumbsup: I'm sure I can recognize the mark side swirl, and I think you're the one that has a grand canyon the entire length of the pile side, right? ;)

Thanks, Jack. :) I feel like I've been to Barnitt's in spirit! ;):cool:

The discussion of kingfishers had me googling (because I'd certainly never seen one like Jack's ), and one site described the belted kingfisher as having a crest reminiscent of 1970s boxing promoter Don King's hairstyle! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup: I thought that was accurate and hilarious, but my daughter didn't appreciate it at all, having no notion of who Don King was.

Thanks for the helpful info, Dwight. :) My brothers and I used to find larger puffballs than the ones you showed, and we'd use them for grenades and smoke bombs in our childhood war games!

That ebony is a black hole, Ron!!:thumbsup::cool:

"Herding cats" does not sound like something one could definitively take charge of! :D
Thanks for the beer recommendations; Chocolate Stout sounds fairly addictive! ;)

You're welcome, Barrett; glad you enjoyed the knocker-upper info.
Thanks for relating Jack's story of how timing issues were handled in the pubs near the factories.
I can relate to your take on loss of German fluency. At one point, I bought a German New Testament, and planned to do a daily Bible reading in German (and English to check my accuracy) to maintain whatever abilities I had, but I never really formed the habit. :(
Glad to see that I'm not the only one who's first impression was an illicit spey blade on Dwight's knife.

Intriguing lambsfoot, Leslie!:cool::thumbsup: Are you sure that groom isn't the polarizing martial arts champion, Colin MacGregor?? ;)

Perfect choice for the transition from 2018 to 2019, Jack!!:cool::cool::thumbsup: Thanks for all your efforts! :)

I hope so, too, John - the more, the merrier!:)
(I'm not on the Membership Committee, so I have no influence in this matter, but if it were up to me, I'd probably admit you, at least as a probationary Guardian, on the basis of your "lambcliffe" Case mini trappers.)

GT, that slip looks better and better the more wear it gets!

Beautiful horn and a nice Spas 12. Rather a heavy gun, but lots of fun to shoot! I traded mine for a Colt competition Hbar- Ar15 back in the mid 90's.
