Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

It's been over 5 years since I last saw my dear friend, The Legend, Duncan @Campbellclanman , so this week is a big one for me, as Duncan, and his missus, Sue, are over in England, for a couple of weeks, and I'll be meeting up with Duncan this week :) It was a toss-up between Sheffield and York, and it was heads for York, so later in the week, we'll be meeting up, for a couple of days, in Yorkshire's historic capital :) I can't wait!

Here's a pic, from Duncan and Sue's visit to Sheffield, 11 years ago, when we visited Stan Shaw's workshop :)

Hope y'all have a good visit 👍🤠

Nice !

Good afternoon, Guardians!

I've noticed a correlation between sudden drops in barometric pressure coinciding with an increased frequency of migraines and general back and neck pain for yours truly 🤕. I've also noticed a correlation between sudden drops in barometric pressure coinciding with standing in water up to one's waist and one's dwelling being rapidly deconstructed and deposited in the neighbor's yard. Let's hope it doesn't come to that!

🌀 Milton hasn't made up his mind on where exactly he'll land - but it's not looking good for somewhere in South Florida. The difference between here and the areas Helene hit, is that where those folks never saw it coming - we live in little above-ground bomb shelters. The houses aren't "cute" like you'd see in other parts of the country but they'll take a slamming and keep on standing!

On the bright side, if Miami does get hit - I'll make sure you see only the very best sampling of the, often humorous, post-hurricane yard signs, which in the past have included sentiments such as "God Bless this Mess" and, my personal favorite, "You Loot - We Eat!" - a funny (sorta) cannibalistic take on the classic "You Loot - We Shoot." Have I mentioned that Miami is just one natural disaster away from full-bore cannibalism? It is. Fine by me, as I've grown quite accustomed to Latin-American cuisine. Heh heh. 💀

Stay safe!

I mistyped that initially, and my phone autocorrected it to “Sausage!” 🤣

But - we're not there quite yet I'm proud to say, and so, after yesterday's "Billy-Yards" we went for Dim-Sum at a Chinese restaurant (name of Kon-Chao) that has been here so long that it was my grandfather's favorite Chinese joint - not kidding!

While a knife's role in Asian dining is mostly superfluous, The Stagnator (being accustomed to taxpayer-funded junkets and opulent State dinners...) insisted on helping out divvying up the various buns, dumplings, and cakes - mostly for the pictures, which he insists will be integral to winning reelection. 🙄 I keep telling him that I'm the only voter that matters in this case but he seems, or pretends, not to understand.

Here he is posing atop some Lotus-wrapped sticky rice balls (GF thinks they're disgusting, I love them 🤣):

and some Shrimp and Leek dumplings:

Looks like some good eatin’ there! 😋

Please send thoughts and prayers - they help to magnify the power of the protection spells our loyal (and overworked) Cuban and Haitian Santeria and Vodun witch-doctors have cast over "The Magic City!" Thanks in advance! 🪄

🤣🤣🤣

That was a tough game to watch. At least Vandy tore down the goal posts and dumped them in the river against Alabama! 😁

Heck, it wasn’t an easy game to watch as an Arkansas fan! 😳 Definitely some interesting upsets this weekend!

That’ll be fantastic, Jack! I’m jealous! 😁 Y’all don’t get into too much trouble now. 😉

Great pic, Dwight!

Julie and I got to see some live music downtown tonight. I’ve been wanting to see Willie Watson play a solo show ever since he left Old Crow Medicine Show and started doing his own thing. We actually had tickets to see him in Phoenix about 7 years ago, but between the time I bought the tickets and the date of the show, we ended up moving to Minnesota and had to miss it.

Anyways, this was the first opportunity since then that I’ve had to see him, and it was a great show! The venue was a jazz club in downtown Minneapolis, which was interesting. We had dinner there before the show started, and a few drinks as well.

My burger, while not particularly exciting to look at, was tasty! Julie got shrimp and grits, which I almost got myself. I did have a couple bites of hers and it was also quite good.

Sounds like a great time out mate 👍🏼

Is his solo stuff bluegrass?

More folk than bluegrass. He recorded two albums of old folk songs, and then just recently released his first album of his own songs. Most of his stuff (especially the new album) is a little more laid back than the stuff he did with Old Crow.

I’ll have to check it out, thanks for the heads up.

Likes like lovely weather there Steve :)
Hope y'all have a good visit 👍🤠
Thanks a lot David, I'm really looking forward to it :)
