Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'm sorry, I really thought it could apply as a lambsfoot!
Is it a kind of sheepsfoot then?

The post can be deleted of course.

I think I got confused because there's no difference between the two blades in French: they're all called "pied de mouton" (sheepsfoot). Or maybe there was but it's not used anymore, I don't know.

Ah yes, I know the Pied de Mouton is common to many French patterns, and the blade shapes vary considerably, as Sheepsfoot blades do, but I've not actually seen a French Lambsfoot. I suspect, because the Lambsfoot only dates to the late 19th century, and most French patterns are very traditional, the Lambsfoot pattern was not taken up in France, as it wasn't in the US

That's a gorgeous knife!
Here is my only lambsfoot, a nice 32 Dumas Aîné that I found at a flea market a few years ago. An awesome knife for many tasks - too short for eating though, I rather use my Douk-Douk for that ;)

Nice knife, but looks like a sheepsfoot.

Edit: hadn't read ahead! ;)

Great picture Jack

Thanks John, the wee anvil sits on my desk, together with Arthur, and the leather Lambsfoot Dylan made me (together with, currently, an old metal whistle, an old pipe tobacco tin, my AC in its slip, my rosewood Big 'Un, my reading glasses, a camera, some herbal cough sweets, a small pink cadillac lighter, and a cup of tea! :D)

Apart from the HT, they do everything themselves, and they sometimes do the HT! They also supply blades, and do work, for other Sheffield cutlers

Check out the factory tour (the blades start out in the shed at the back, being punched out on one of the ancient presses): https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/visiting-arthur-wright-son-pics.1481181/ (That's Ashley doing the forging there!)

Thanks for reposting that link, Jack! I remember enjoying that when you originally posted it, but I found it even more enjoyable to go back and look at your detailed photos now that I’ve been there in person.

I hope that a few of you remember Arthur, the Right Lambsfoot Greg @WhittlinAway whittled for me a while back...

He sits on my desk, but I have been thinking about sending him on a journey in the style of Earl and Pearl. He's very dear to me, so I would only want him to go to stay with Guardians of Good-standing who've been on The Porch awhile. What do you think folks, anyone up for this, maybe have a prize for the post that gets the most likes?

Sounds like fun!

David, we had a major snowstorm in September and that was it. Since then there has been very little snow and a lot of the day temps in Calgary have reached +10C
Today is the first time I believe that the daytime high is below at -8 C

It’s been similar here in Minnesota, Dave. We had a few snow storms in November and December (not counting a dusting we got in October), but it’s just about all melted after several “warm” January days in the upper 30s/low 40s (F). It is a bit cool this morning (5°F, 15°F high for the day), but overall things have been pretty mild… disappointingly so for our first full winter here, if you ask me. I wanted the real-deal experience, full immersion! :D

It would be fun to see pictures of the things people have on their desks. It could tell us a lot about a person. Seems like you like to have stuff around that brings you joy.

Hey Barrett :) Maybe I should have included a pic of the high-tech office! :D

I'm also pretty untidy John! :D
