It certainly doesn’t feel mild at the moment. We had a bit of snow in December, but it warmed up enough over Christmas to melt most of that. It’s plenty cold now (just above 0°F when I took Eleanor to school this morning), no temps above freezing in the forecast, and there were trucks out on the ice over the weekend, but they need a good amount of snow to run the race (it’s needed on the lake for the dogs to run, of course, but they also have to have enough to haul into downtown Excelsior to make the start/finish line on the street that runs through the town and out onto the lake). We’ll see what happens. The race is scheduled for February 1st, so hopefully it’ll snow soon.

That does sound pretty cold Barrett! I had equated the lack of snow with milder temperatures - making an ass out of me, and umption! I hope you get enough snow for the race, it sounds like a great event

Thanks Steve, it's a bit of an odd one. I received an email a few months back saying that I had been referred by the NHS to some private clinic for physio, the original appointment time being 7.45am I didn't know what it was about, as I hadn't been to the docs in a while. At the surgery, they couldn't tell me anything about it, not who had referred me, or what it was for, but it might be for my knee, or my elbow I have bad tennis elbow, going back 15 years, but I haven't seen anyone about it in at least 5, and while I hurt my knee a couple of months back, it was AFTER receiving the appointment. So, something of a mystery, and I wasn't sure they hadn't made a mistake altogether, but after getting the appointment time changed to 9am, I thought I'd at least go and see. However, I really didn't want to be going out this morning, and risking another injury. I'll go to the surgery again, but doubt I'll get any more sense

Got some snow on top of the ice and sleet last night.



Back in November I was diagnosed with pneumonia. After three rounds of antibiotics I was lot better, but not cured. The folks at the clinic said they didn't want to give me any more antibiotics and referred me to a pulmonologist, who can't see me until 2/27/25 Although I'm not coughing to much as long as I don't exert myself, I'm short of breath and minimal exertion sets me to coughing. I've coughed enough over the last couple of months that I have an intercostal muscle (muscle around the ribs) strain on my left side so when I cough its..unpleasent. I've been trying to minimize the coughing so the muscle will heal. Walking out to mailbox and taking knife picks in 14F air set me off this morning. The snow is lot heavier and stiffer than it looks, probably due to all the sleet mixed in. Given my current infirmity shoveling is out of the question. Normally in Missouri snow melts in a couple of days, but we're not supposed to get above freezing until Friday. I started the vehicles and let them run while I was out, but I don't plan on going farther than the mailbox for immediate future

Oh no Mike! That's crazy you won't be seen for another 2 years (though I doubt it is any better here)! I've had a cough for 15 years (stomach related), so I can appreciate what you say about the intercostal muscle strain, and it sounds like you're coughing a lot worse than me buddy I sure hope you can get some help, and please take care of yourself. Beautiful as your photos are, we don't want you suffering for your art

How on earth the local guy has that many subscribers is a mystery to me! I think I might have actually seen him on this particular day Please ignore his disgusting custard ideas!
