I just rechecked again, and I have today off.
There doesn't look to be much snow out there, but it was snowing all day and into the night, so I'm probably kidding myself. I'll get out the venerable snowblower in an hour. Then the old groceries and antiques routine with my brother.
I ordered some XL deluxe yaxtrax and wore them for the first time yesterday. I highly recommend them, but Lowe's sells trex carbide spikes online, so those are bound to be superior.
On a related note, I slipped in the shower the other day and thought I'd bring up the suction cup mat from the basement. It's been hanging there so long, a piece breaks off when you try to pick it up, I think it's a major brand, too. Fortunately I had another made of sterner stuff. I found a long grab-rail down there, too. I should probably put that in, if I can trust myself to find the studs. Or I could mount it above the tiles and hang a cargo net from it.![]()
A routine visit to my brother, who at 67, has to learn to walk again!!

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is OK, and enjoying the weekend. The big freeze is still in here, and I wonder how much the lack of grit on the pavements has cost the National Health ServiceI normally walk to the pub, but last night, I caught the bus up the hill, as walking conditions are treacherous. Me and Matt had a couple of pints, while his lad, Cillian, had fish and chips. Matt invited me round to watch a movie, so we got a couple of bottles of wine from the supermarket, and got a taxi down to his. I only live a few streets up the road, but I rang for a cab to take me home too
Hoping to meet up with Wolfie today, but I haven't rang him yet, so we'll see
Have a great day everyone, and I hope you get to engage in some lollygagging!
