Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Crass were actual total hippies, who considered themselves artists

I think I considered them artists too or, at least, I think I found Gee Vaucher's visual imagery more capable of effectively communicating their intended message. As young Americans, discerning the message of the songs through thick accents was an uphill battle! 😂

I had a t-shirt with this chap on it:

I wore it until it was no more than threads.

"Fight war, not wars." Hmmm - it does indeed sound like something that might originate with a group of impassioned hippies! 🤔😂

Rimbaud was extremely pretentious, as well as dishonest.

It's sometimes a tough row to hoe separating the art from the artist. I recall finding an interview in which Rimbaud insisted that Crass's music was not inspired by rock n' roll but instead by European classical music... 😬🤣

Fancy schmancy. 🎻🙄

I actually used to put on gigs too, starting in 1977 in Sheffield - A local band called The Extras headlined! :D

The legacy expands!! I'll have to look them up!

My mate Spike had managed to get hold of a copy of the Sex Pistols' God Save The Queen, which had just been released. He put it on, and we were just blown away with the raw power, and (believe it or not) speed, of it. We sat there with our mouths open, and the only thing I remember saying was "Put it on again!" For the next year or so, I barely listened to anything else :D

That's interesting. I've always wondered how The Sex Pistols were received. I think it's sometimes difficult to ever really understand how a thing was at its inception from the perspective of already knowing how it ends.

I was there (see below)! The Clash, Jimmy Pursey, X-Ray Spex, Tom Robinson Band, Steel Pulse, 100,000 people in Victoria Park in London

Not a Mohican in sight! :D

Wow. Would you look at that?!! What I wouldn't give!! That's just too damn cool. X-Ray Spex. Man. Poly Styrene's spine-chilling shrieks are simply in a class all their own. 90's Riot Grrrls everywhere will back me up on this!

Great pic
Another beautiful photo

Thanks, Jack.

Start of my work week. Sitting here at work on a pretty busy night. We are getting into our busy season.

Took this regular ole A Wright in trade recently and I must say…it’s excellent. Never had a swell end Wright with elongated “not Barlow” 😂 bolsters. Pictures with it is a present from my middle kid. A “cool” new lighter. He said mine was cheap and ugly. I usually use a Bic 😂. Not really my taste but it’s from my kid and it works great!!!

It's got a scorpion and a scary bird - what else does one need in a lighter?!

It was no better in England mate! 🤣

Definitely Will :D I think he has claimed to have invented the whole genre! 😖

I doubt you'll find them, yet in that hot summer, when bands would would form, de-form, and re-form, (and sometimes even reform), in the time it takes to down a pint, The Extras were the best-known, and most together of the early Sheffield Punk bands (a bit posey, and not my favourite at all). It always seems to be a lottery who makes it, and who doesn't, nobody in Sheffield ever thought 'Tone-Def Leppard', as they were known, would ever go anywhere

Edit - Seems I was wrong! :D

Some of these recollections are a bit fanciful, but interestingly Christopher Johnson's Western Works gets a mention! :D

I still think NMTB was a great album. but always thought Lydon was a £$@% :D

A great day indeed, but I think we better take this to DM Will, or the other Guardians will be bored to tears! :D

Great shot
St Patricks Day here, or Saint Paddy's to the blasphemers  :):):)👍.

Happy St Patrick's Day Leon :) When I first moved to Leeds 25 years ago, there were a whole load of Irish pubs and drinking dens, and I had mates who'd take the day off work to celebrate. Every single one of those pubs is gone now sadly, and the mates have either moved away, or have the gaffer's boot on their necks - not necessarily talking about their employer!
A fine-looking Lamb David :)
Probably my favorite Wright lamb with a Trigger Finger splint.View attachment 2820993
Nice to see that one again Dan, and I hope your finger is OK (I was worried you were hiding your wedding ring there for a second!) :D;)👍

Nice-looking Lamb, and a cool gift from your boy, all part of being a dad! :D

Good morning Guardians, and Happy St Patrick's Day to you 🍀 Here's me slagging me old mates, and I'm not even drinking at the moment! :D I suspect there'll be a lot of Irish folk in Dublin keeping out of the way today, due to the influx of green-bedecked tourists, drinking their weight in (currently very overpriced) Guinness) I shall be giving an old old Dublin pal a ring, but he's getting a bit old for boozing now anyway :) I hope your week gets off to a good start Guardians. I have quite a bit of work to do, so I don't think I'll be able to get out at all today, but I'm sure I'll still find a use for my Lamb :)

It's been a while since I last carried The Chieftain :) I took the pic below when Musical Andy was still down at the market

That's some nice Rosewood ! 👍

Not like us!
I'll be wearing my Irish blessing T shirt to work today, probably under my denim jacket. Projected high of 60 degrees. You know, "May the road rise up and bite you in the..."- something like that. Arrayed around a Celtic cross.
