Thanks kindly Steve.Nice pic buddy ! Are you thinking of moving down to Georgia ?
Another standard bearer of lambs.
Good karma will reward you Will.Hey there, Guardians!
I went senior-citizen bowling yesterday morning and bowled above my average - no applause, please.
On the way home, Joan, my 94-year-old neighbor and captain of a competing bowling team, called to tell me that I'd left my coffee thermos at the bowling alley and that she was bringing it home with her. It sounded innocent at the time. I even thanked her.
Fast forward a couple hours and I get a call from Joan. She's back from shopping and I tell her I'll come down to get my thermos, to which she replies "No way, Jose! Not until you hang the flag you've been promising to hang for months!!" To be fair, her claim is true. I have been promising to hang the flag and hoping she would forget about it. She doesn't seem prone to forgetfulness.
I wanted my thermos back, so I rustled up some zip ties and went down the block to her place, zip-tied the new bracket to a vertical support on the front porch, and raised old glory. It all felt a bit unceremonious for a flag raising, and I said so: "Joan, aren't we supposed to sing something for this kind of event?" and she agreed. We sang a few bars of the Star-Spangled Banner and then made explosion noises with our mouths, and I was finally satisfied that we'd paid proper respect - at least by 2025 standards. Not much pomp, hardly any circumstance, low effort; yes - but effort nonetheless. Gotta count for something. Got to.
Anyways, and here's where it gets good, I had brought a pair of snips to trim the ends of the zip ties but the snips were rusty and dull. The only other tool I had was Tilly, my Charlie Lamb, which made short work of the zip ties's unsightly ends.
Instead of a picture of the stars and stripes framed against Miami's piercing sapphire-hard spring sky, I give you this underwhelming picture from the bowling alley earlier today. Perfectly dreadful light, phone camera, uninspired composition - perfectly dreadful:

Gracias amigo.Great shot of your FC
Cool pic Steve![]()
Very interesting Jer, most of mine are simpler designs, in stainless steel and aluminium, just to use on the trail. They vary from something you could sit on the palm of your hand, to my Kelly Kettle

Thanks Barrett! Looks like you had a great trip!
Went to an event last night that had unclear rules about what was allowed in your pockets… long story short, they said I could either surrender my knife (NOT gonna happen) or put it away and come back through the line.
Needless to say, I chose the second option. Wasn’t about to walk the mile or so round trip to my car and back so I took my chances in an unassuming looking bush where there was no foot traffic. I’m thankful to say that after the event, it was right where I left it! Phew. Lesson learned, I guess I’ll be leaving my pocket knives in the car from now on. Turns out some people view them as dangerous weapons

Looking good, Charlie! Probably a good thing you didn’t have that at the show, you would’ve been fighting off GEC fans with one hand and women with the other!![]()

Dwight!
I had a similar situation on a work trip last August. We were staying in Alexandria, VA. Took the tram to the DC mall. Every federal building/museum I went into I had to find a covert location to hide my lamb. Lesson learned.Went to an event last night that had unclear rules about what was allowed in your pockets… long story short, they said I could either surrender my knife (NOT gonna happen) or put it away and come back through the line.

Sorry to hear that Barrett, I hope it lands soonUSPS sure is taking their sweet time with the package so far.![]()
Thanks mate, I haven't actually tried that, but we still have the odd coin that is of the same dimensions as the old ones (though generally they have gotten smaller)Interesting coin holder, Jack. Does it only work with the old money?
Thanks again my friend, yeah, definitely has its advantagesGreat pics, Jack. That type of stove looks pretty handy compared to hauling around a fuel canister.
That's scary!I had a similar situation on a work trip last August. We were staying in Alexandria, VA. Took the tram to the DC mall. Every federal building/museum I went into I had to find a covert location to hide my lamb. Lesson learned.![]()
