Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

That is hilarious, Jack!

I had a 2" pump on the dock, pumping water from the lake.

Thanks Jack. Nature will restore itself, forest fires are a very necessary part of the ecosystem. In this case, it will not be fully restored in my lifetime. This area had burned in 2015, when we lost the original cabin.

Thanks Jack. Yeah, I probably stayed too long. The fire was about 20 yds from me and very hot by the time I got the boat away from the dock.

Good pic, Jack. We really need to be able to use two emojis for some of your posts: sad for you internet and medical bureaucracy woes and love for the beautiful knives you post.

Hey Dan!

Mate I am glad that you managed to save the Cabin. windows replaced and a touch up on the cladding - although painful is nothing to the devastation you could have been handed by the Fire!

Fire is has always been proven to be almost a needed " reset" on the land and it comes back amazing- nature is so awesome like that isn't it, so with hope your surroundings will replenish although there will be trees that will tell the tale of what was.

What really devastates me is the loss of the wildlife that cannot escape at speed, be it snakes, all the young of each and every wonderful animal and insects - just horrific death, people may scoff at this but when we are educated what really happens in a fire like that it's horrific in the most awful way.

I imagined myself setting up a couple of Buoys and having perhaps a raft of sorts with belongings atop on the water, Dan I am real glad your safe.

Great news Dan, 😀 I was so so fortunate to have such a great Surgeon, it was close that I was going to need to have a Colostomy bag for the rest of my life, if not a bag for a year with the removal of a good part of my works, he did tell me that there was a small small percentage if things went the way he hoped if all the Planets aligned that I may not need a bag.
I went to a specialist the day before so they could see how I wore my belt, and where was going to be the best spot to have things placed, they then marked the left and right side for options for the surgeon - but a clear plastic tape over me and off I went.

Well after 7 hours of surgery later - I woke up without a bag, I just could not believe it!!!! The joy was huge- so I really can relate to how amazing you must be feeling, and I am so so pleased for you Dan.
It took honestly a couple of years for things to become comfortable - but Oh Man..... sometimes we are the luckiest people on Earth aren't we - you must be feeling like this, so what a great post to read rom you, and if I know the Guardians at all - they too will be feeling the joy for you!

Yes a phenomenal loss of wildlife. The fire has burned 142,000 hectares as of this morning.

Because I don't like to make a post without a picture, even if it is one that has already been posted

Duncan we are both very lucky men. I went six months with a Colostomy bag and I’m overjoyed to be able to take a dump normally. Laparoscopic surgery is amazing and I was lucky enough to have one of the best surgeons In California. By chance she was on call the night I needed emergency surgery she saved my life and then changed my life. The first surgery took about six hours and the reverse ostomy was only two. I have a three inch scar from the removal of the stoma and two very small incisiones from the laparoscopic surgery. I will be indebted to her and her team for the rest of my life. l now treasure every day and I’m sure you do too. Be well Duncan🙏

I’ve been thinking about my collection, I know it’s far fewer than many but I got up to 17 lambs at one point. I’ve gifted away a few recently and am back down to 11 or 12.

If you really had to cut back what would be your top 3 or 5?

For me this would be the five, except I’d swap out the Harrison for my GL-24.

A top 3 would be
3 - Volkofsky
2 - Cosimo
1 - Huntsman.

I’m very fortunate to have some beautiful lambfoot knives.

"Abandon hope, all ye who enter here"!
(That was in response to the prison gate picture.)
Indeed! Armley Jail had a terrible reputation for brutality at one time

Things still don't sound good there! :(
Fantastic composition Dwight, what a wonderful coin with your fabulous Lamb
Cool pic Mitch
A very important part of our history often forgotten about.
Not particularly well-written, but might be of interest mate  Unsurprisingly, there was a Gallows Hill in the area  The mill referred to in the piece is now a museum, and Tool Man worked there for a while making fencing

Do love a good old fashioned traditional butcher, getting very thin on the ground though. Sad. 😞😞😞

👍👍👍🤠
Yeah mate, fishmongers are even rarer here now :(
Nice photo David :)

Good morning Guardians, my contrary WIFI seems OK today. It is only 6.30am though, so we'll see  It's raining pretty steadily outside, but I need to stay in for a delivery anyway. I'm hoping that it'll clear up for when I go out this afternoon. Carrying Big Rose today :) Have a great day Guardians, the weekend is nearly here ;)

Oh man that's just bloody terrible, I'm more than glad you are ok, real glad your Cabin did well considering shattered to hear the amount of loss of nature though, poor animals!
Dan, a quick question, when so remote - do the first responders get cracking with Helicopters- and the Planes that drop Retardant, is there some sort of base available there - as in a Road with enough stretch to land nearby what they can use where they can utilize this, or purely helicopter water dropping?

Jack, is that Stan Shaws old Key Tab Label?

No Duncan, it's from the old Blakey's factory in Leeds, once very famous, and their boot protectors were as generic as Biros and Hoovers (they are now based in the English Midlands). Ex-Para Steve picked it up, and I think it's a great find. Very generously, he gave it to Tool Man

It seems to have soaked into the finely wrought masonry.
Though if somebody offered me a free condominium comprising the gatehouse and a courtyard garden, I'm not sure I'd be delicate enough to refuse it.

The first time someone pointed the place out to me it's walls were darkened by soot, a big black castle on the hill! 😱 Bizarrely, it was actually modelled after Windsor Castle 🙄😁
Good morning Guardians. Still recovering from my tooth extraction - it was....mid-evil. But, quoting a line from one of the "Pink Panther" movies...everyday and in every way I'm getting better and better. Going to get an implant in the not so distant future. I'll be keeping my HHB close to me for good luck.

The La Ronge airport is about 24 km to the southeast of my cabin. However, government cutbacks have gutted Fire Protection Services. There was absolutely nothing done for this fire. There are many other fires burning in the province that are threatening communities and the resources have all gone to those fires.
