Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Ah 1 of them days.

There are good receptionist?
The gatekeepers I call em, Cerberus has nothing on them.
It's a carry over from covid days given too much autonomous power on deciding whom was allowed entry. Didn't give the power back and can be rather rude and intrusive.
The lack of privacy is annoying medical issues are between the doctor and myself.
When I went a month ago when I was sick, had to do a covid test and bring it along to show the receptionist, hence the gatekeepers.
LOL! :D I hadn't realised it was an international condition Mitch, should have guessed! 😖 I moved from my old practice because of the receptionists, but haven't found them too bad at my current one, until yesterday. I saw the nurse recently, who was concerned about my blood pressure, so they asked me to record it, twice a day, for a week. Pretty standard stuff. My scores are indeed pretty high, second stage hypertension high. When I returned the record sheet though, the receptionist just tossed it on the side, and I know they're supposed to immediately go and show it to one of the doctors, or a clinician. Instead she asked, "Do you have any symptoms?" The woman can't even type, and now she's a doctor! She said someone would call me, but they haven't, so I'm going to have to go back today, or go to the hospital 😠
Thanks pal, I hope tomorrow's a better day for you 👍
Thanks Steve, appreciated my friend :)
Sounds like a bit of a :poop: day Jack, I am afraid that if I feel like I have been polite to a person- doesn't matter who or where they are, and they are rude like that, they are going to be told, these type of people deal on the percentage basis that many will accept their behaviour, if they encountered push back every time they wouldn't be doing this,or, they wouldn't be working there because of the feedback - this makes me peeved when I hear this sort of thing - sorry Jack!
Thanks mate. The receptionist only started 2 or 3 months ago, and I dare say I'm not alone in having been kind to her when she clearly didn't know what she's doing, but she was rude from the start yesterday. When I arrived, she kept typing for over five minutes, while I stood in front of her. The problem is, they can be as rude as they want, but they have the power to ban you from the surgery 🤨
A cool photo Dwight, I love that IXL :)
Mate, love the colour. That was the colour i was trying to achieve with my dye job but well off.

Yep it's international.
Don't let your self get stressed.
You will have your ups and downs and you will get side effects from some medications but it's doable.
I'm sure I've said it before when diagnosed mine was well in the 200s. Doc told me straight up " you will stoke and you won't be able to wipe your own arse" point made something I'll never forget
Now I'm in the 120s, so you can do it.

Yep Stevie wright was only about 17 or 18.
Most people don't know Friday on my mind is an Aussie original.
Have a calm day.

I was going to say something to this, but it wasn't particularly wise.
I hope you kept a copy of your readings.
I just took mine. 123/73-67. Not bad, considering I was freaking out about the thing squeezing hard enough to pinch my arm off like a tender blossom.

Good morning Guardians, Friday at last! :D I hope everyone has a good one, and that you're looking forward to the weekend :) Carrying my Hartshead Barlow :)

Personal blood pressure history has a long history of family members (grandparents, parents, etc.) with high blood pressure and death by heart attack. I had genetic high blood pressure even as a farm kid doing a lot of physical labor and eating well, not from McDonald's 3 times a day 7 days a week.

I was placed on blood pressure medicine during college when I was old enough to take control of my own health care without parental involvement. At first, I was labeled a STRESSED COLLEGE STUDENT. After 12 months of going into the health clinic 3 times a week, during spring break, summer break, etc., and being told I was stressed out over final exams, class projects, etc. I asked why my blood pressure never deviated even during summer with no classes! For the record, in a dark room for 30 minutes listening to wave sounds or something similar like birds in a forest for each blood pressure check, I normally tested 180/130 with a heartbeat of mid-60's to mid-70's. When put on basic blood pressure medicine I immediately dropped to the mid 110's over low 70's with a heartbeat in the high 50's.

Every time I moved, this whole process started over. I was accused of eating too much fried food, too many eggs, too much salt, etc. ... My blood pressure is ABSOLUTELY NOT DIET RELATED! I also live an active lifestyle.

Being the good engineer and former EMT, I started taking my blood pressure each morning when I woke up, mid-day at lunch, and before bed at night along with a food diary to look for trends. I was accused of "white coat syndrome" and "psyching myself out" as the cause for my high blood pressure by doctors! 😡 I was treated like a drug addict looking for Oxycontin or whatever narcotic was in fashion but, who abuses blood pressure medicine? 🤣

The teaching hospital doctor was the worst. A business trip took me to the other side of the country for what was supposed to be a one week trip. Turns out I was there for a month. My blood pressure medicine ran out so I called my doctor and was refused an emergency refill while on travel and that I must go to the office in person. Turns out they get paid a fee for each office visit but, nothing for a phone call. Well, I could not leave my work to fly ~2,000 miles each way between Monday and Friday just to get a handwritten prescription. When I got back, I scheduled my appointment and the receptionist insisted that scheduling for a blood pressure prescription was not a valid reason!

I asked her what sort of liability payout my heirs would get if I had an aneurysm or stroke while standing in front of her trying to see my doctor! She got a nurse who took my blood pressure who then quickly escorted me to an exam room and took my blood pressure again and then ran out and got my doctor! I COULD HEAR MY HEATBEAT so I knew my BP was extremely high. Turns out I was 280/180 with a heartbeat >160! She immediately called the emergency room for a "rescue" and I flatly refused and insisted on getting my blood pressure medicine first. Since I was still conscious, she couldn't force medical procedures on me that I refused. I told her to wait until I was unconscious to send me to the Emergency Room and explain to them why they refused to give me my long term blood pressure medicine!

She instead got me the blood pressure I had been using for many years and gave it to me. 30 minutes later, I was back to 115/75 with a heartbeat of 55.

Some doctors are really awesome but, payment schemes wreak havoc on a lot of them and prevent doing the "right" thing in many cases. Their staff isn't paid well so, they often have receptionists that are simply terrible.

You MUST be your own healthcare advocate in many cases to get what care is really needed.

Regarding your blood pressure history, only give your doctor/receptionist a copy. Keep all the original readings you took with you. A bound notebook for blood pressure history and a bit of a food and exercise diary can be helpful. Definitely do not be put off if you have hypertension as it affects eyesight and kidney function in addition to other bad effects.

ABSOLUTELY! They can be little tyrants in some cases. "Lost" or misplaced records are a super easy way to deny you basic services and inflate your costs. I make an extra effort to thank the good receptionists and nurses I encounter because they are heavily abused in most cases by hospitals, health centers, and insurance companies.

Please be persistent with your healthcare needs until your hypertension is controlled!

Now back to the Lambsfoot discussion! I still hope to travel to the UK someday to see about scoring a superior Lambsfoot knife like I see in this thread!

All this talk about medical office problems reminds me of the fun we have had with the many doctors that my wife sees. Overall we haven’t really had any issues with receptionists. But one of the orthopedic surgeons who worked on her is a real winner. He is always late for appointments. The fastest he has ever shown up was 90 minutes late. The office warns us that we will pay a fee if we are late, so we show up on time, but then wait for an hour and a half or two hours for the doctor to show up. And when he finally shows up, we see him for one minute tops, and most of that time he spends telling us what a great job he did on her surgery. We recently saw another of her surgeons and he said that the orthopedic surgeon is full of himself, so even other doctors notice it.

My son’s ex works for a doctor and when I said something about arrogant doctors making patients wait so long, she went into full defensive mode, saying that doctors are special because they help people. Too many of them have a god complex.

Someone had to graduate last in their class. Perhaps, that surgeon was running late for his finals, too.🫤

I have 3 doctors in the family thankfully. They have had to step in and question other doctors procedures for family members several times....fortunately.

I don't know if I should feel good about that, or bad, Mitch! :D Thanks mate, I'm hoping it's just a minor hiccup  Good for you Mitch :) Most of my life, my BP has been on the low side. I called in the docs again today, and have an appointment for next week. Also, by coincidence, I ran into a guy in the market, who does a stall giving out men's health advice. He took my blood pressure, and while I noticed our machines are the same make, his did not grip my arm in the brutal way mine does! He told me my BP was high, but not scary high, and quite manageable

Thanks Jer, I know the feeling, I thought I was going to lose an arm the first time I used mine! I did take a photo of the BP sheet before handing it in

Happy Friday Guardians !

It's another wet day here which isn't good for my painting project 🙄 We seem to be in a wet cycle this month so far. Into next week there is rain in the forecast almost everyday.

Thanks kindly Jack.
Always good to get a second opinion concerning our bodies.
Just check in here, we are always glad to help.😂
Seriously, I've been on Losartan for years and have ideal blood pressure now. Too late in life to start giving up any foods.

All this talk of BP, made me pull out my home digital machine to check mine. 110/65, that is my normal reading. Cleaning up my diet made a huge difference. Have a good weekend everyone, just having some breakfast on Saturday morning. 🥰 🥰 🥰 🤠
