We don't have a dishwasher. I'm the 1 with dish pan hands. Our gas water system is not overly hot. I always boil the kettle and top off the sink with boiling water. You can get them mugs clean

The only reason I don’t have dish pan hands is because I wear latex kitchen gloves. My skin does not tolerate long exposure to dish detergent and I get a rash if I don’t wear gloves.

In our house the simple rule is this: when my wife cooks, I do the dishes. When I cook, I do the dishes. If I am gone and she cooks for herself, I usually come home to a sink of dishes all dried out waiting for me to wash.

My wife is outstanding at reservations, hence very little dishwashing.

We use the dishwasher only to keep the seals from dry rotting.
