Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing well, and that your week is off to a good start. Here, yesterday was what is called a 'Bank Holiday Monday', and the main day of my local West Indian Carnival (the oldest in Europe). Not that I didn't have to do any work (I really need to plan better next year)

The weather was gorgeous, and I decided to go out about 11.30am, have a walk down to Charlie's, and see what was occurring

I was surprised that even at that relatively early hour, the streets were starting to get busy, but there was a nice atmosphere.

Down at Charlie's, I had a couple of cups of coffee, and some avocado on toast, and chatted to a friend I haven't seen in a while. Matt had gone out to buy a few things, and called in, and I went back home with him for half an hour. They were going up to the park to see the Carnival Parade set off, but I decided to nip back home for an hour. I had just got in, when I had some work got in, which filled my hour.
I walked back down to Matt's, taking some beers with me. It was busy now, but folks kept on coming. We took some nice comfortable chairs from Matt's to our usual Carnival spot, and set up to wait for the parade to arrive, with the friends we see there every year. The weather was perfect, and the parade a lot of fun. We sat around drinking beer, and people watching.

Later, I had to go home to write another press-release, and after getting that done, I went back to find everyone still in the same spot. We sat there until it was starting to get dark, and time for the kids to go to bed. Then me and Matt, set off with my near neighbour, Jason, and his new girlfriend, to explore a bit. The streets were packed now, and we slipped into a house party for a cold Guinness. After that, Matt decided he was going home, and we walked back to the main road, where the crowds were densely packed. Matt headed off, and the rest of us slowly made our way back up the hill, with Jason and his girlfriend going to one of our local bars, and me choosing not to play gooseberry, and heading home myself, having numerous friendly encounters with strangers along the way.
I was in bed by 10.30pm, but it was noisy outside, and I got woken up at 1.30am, only to find I had the missing info for yet another press-release. So I got out of bed, and took care of that!
It's been a good summer here, and the third Carnival in a row, where we've had good weather. The youngsters will have been dancing all night, but things are usually looking spick and span again by mid morning. I only took a few pics on my phone, but you get the idea
