Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

We can still get good Chinese cuisine. Although there was a dumpling house next door to the old Cafe. Until I was sitting outside having a coffee when 1 of the kitchen staff walked past carrying about a 10kg bag of frozen dumplings 🤨
Usually for an entree i have dim sim, another aussie invention

Wow Bob
Never heard of that before.
Does it work well?
Oh no! I was once going to meet my ex at an upmarket Chinese place, one lunchtime. I was early, and noticed that their fish had been sitting out on the step, in the hot sun, for at least a couple of hours, as I had passed by earlier. We went somewhere else  Interesting about the Dim Sum Mitch, I don't remember seeing it here before the late 80's. When I was a kid, there were only 2 Chinese restaurants in the centre of Sheffield, they had been there since the late 50's, and catered to English people. Back then, the small Chinese community, (many from Hong Kong), mainly worked in restaurants and takeaways. The takeaways took off in the 60's, and there were a lot of them. Today, in the larger city of Leeds, the South Asian community is not only much bigger, but more diverse. There are more Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean restaurants than Chinese. The Chinese (and Japanese) restaurants are more up-market than in the past, their menus are more authentic, and sophisticated, and their customers are predominantly South Asian (many from the universities). Young, probably third or fourth generation Chinese people, no longer want to work in a takeaway, and their previous customer base has moved onto other things, so sadly there aren't so many Chinese takeaways left here, and I might never taste one of those fat, tasty Chinese spring rolls again 😢 The nearest one to me closed down more than a decade ago, and the one a mile up the road closed down 6 months ago. Mr & Mrs Tool Man still have a Chinese takeaway every Thursday evening, but then it's like going back in time where Tool Man lives! 🤣
Meeting Wolfie sounds a lot more fun than dealing with taxes 😉👍
Yeah, we had 2 coffees AND cheesecake! 😂👍
The HHB! (I feel like you should imagine hearing that shouted over a PA with a crowd going wild in the background.)

😂👍
Always enjoy seeing one of those Sheldon lambs.:thumbsup:
Thanks mate :)
My wife walks around our neighborhood pretty regularly, but it’s not my favorite. A lot of the smaller streets lack sidewalks, and there are a lot of hills. (We’re also at about the highest point on the island, which means no matter where you walk around the neighborhood, the last little bit to get home is going to be a trudge uphill.)
I used to walk around mine during Covid, when I couldn't go anywhere else. I don't think I've done it since! :D
I checked off miles 4 through 6 on the trail today, most of which goes through the village of Minnetonka Beach, a small (and expensive) community located on a narrow strip of land that separates two parts of Lake Minnetonka.

It was sunny and warmer than it has been lately, so I was appreciative that most of the trail here was shady. There was also a pretty decent breeze, which was pleasant.

Lots of very nice, very pricey homes along this part of the trail, many of which are right on the lake. I stopped to take a picture of this one, which was probably the most extreme example I saw. 😳

There also a country club/golf course in Minnetonka Beach. When I had looked on Google maps to try and plan where to park for this section of trail, I found some parking spots that looked promising, but they turned out to be for country club members only, so I had to park elsewhere.

I ended up parking along the street outside Minnetonka Beach’s quaint little post office and city hall. (I would argue that “city” hall is a bit of a stretch; I’m pretty sure there are fewer than 500 residents in Minnetonka Beach.)

Right around the mile 6 marker, the trail enters Spring Park, MN.

My Lambsfoot for the day was my Cosimo Lunar Lamb, which I still had in my pocket from the weekend.

Good for you Barrett, thanks for the pics buddy :) That is some house, nice to see the butler has his own place! ;) :D Great shot of your Lunar Lamb :)
I took Beni to work today and he had a LOT of cutting to do. Mega FedEx drop off had us really hopping for about 2 hours.

Glad Beni got to do some cutting Jeff
Giving this pattern another try. A few months ago I stopped at a store here in Kentucky that had a decent selection of Sheffield knives in stock. This is the one that came home with me. Only complaint was the blade grind. I have finally got around to sharpening it up and am going to carry it for a few days.

Hope you find it OK Dave, I have sympathy with any store that has to deal with a Sheffield cutlery firm, but handy for you :)
Thanks. It's pretty crazy to lose so much of it overnight. Kind of funny, though: watching TV without the hearing aids now, people sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks played very softly.
I'm seeing my audiologist at 7 am. tomorrow. I think she can reprogram the hearing aids to boost my newly missing frequencies. Maybe put a bigger speaker on the right one.

Horn, get it? Ear trumpets!
Yeah, must have come as a shock :( Very witty Jer
Hello, Guardians. Coming to the end of this work hell. I’ve missed a lot and I apologize. You will have to put up with me everyday soon 😂. Got the ole IXL in the pocket at work.

Great to see you here Paul, I hope that doesn't mean they have given you the push! ;) That's one heck of a Lambsfoot

Evening Guardians! Happy trails 🤠

Your right Jack, there is a lot more Asian cuisine available. Chinese is nostalgic to me when growing up only had chippy or Chinese. I remember when the first McDonald's and pizza hut opened and we thought they were right exotic.
Yep the next generation don't want to continue. There was a big story this year about the oldest Chinese restaurant closing.
Yep scully is pretty cool bit alien so name is appropriate 😀

it's like going back in time where Tool Man lives! 🤣
It's nice that that's possible. Even if it only reminds you that the past wasn't that great.

And I tried to quote the bit about walking around the neighborhood.
I stopped walking around my neighborhood when I realized I'd been injuring my knees walking wrong. Talk about a shock. I find myself wanting to do it again now. Maybe start by walking to the church to look for leftover bagels.

My big Indian clubs became salient during the water heater shuffle. I think I'll haul them out again, too.

Speaking of bloodied but unbowed, I think I'll carry old stubby today.

[I was home from the audiologist by 8, with my hearing aids jacked up. The otolaryngolist is going to set me up with inter- or intra-? tympanic steroid injections. I should research how much that's going to hurt.
[Pain is usually moderate and brief]
[I have an appointment for the day after tomorrow.]
[Oh Toto, I don't think we're in England anymore.]

Waboom should help you deal with the tax issue 🙂👍

Yeah, before the Chinese, it was just the chippy here too :) LOL! I can remember when pizza was described on the local news as if it'd only just been discovered! :D The 'food craze' before that 'Danish sandwiches'! 🤣 Thanks for the video Mitch :) In Sheffield, in the late 80's, there was a scandal involving the 2 oldest Chinese restaurants, which were virtually next to each other. A beat policeman, smelling paraffin, caught the owner of the Golden Dragon stuffing newspaper soaked in the stuff through the letter-box of the more successful Zing Vaa. When challenged the would-be arsonist said he was just delivering presents for Chinese New Year!

Thanks Steve, I have to do it all online, and unfortunately they needed some information from one of my banks that I don't have online banking with, so I had to go into town :( It did mean that I got coffee and a haircut, but I'll have to get to it shortly

No worries about the video, we all seem to like a touch of history.
Presents for new year? Crazy.
