Beautiful maple, Steve. I think I’ve mentioned here before the maple tree in our front yard. When we bought the house (in summer) I thought the big maple in the yard would be beautiful in fall. Well, it turns out it’s a maple variety that basically doesn’t change colors at all.The leaves go from dark green with a hint of red to slightly less dark green, then they fall off.
I thought you Guardians might enjoy this video that showed up on my YouTube suggestions today.
I think Big Jim probably would have appreciated the no-nonsense Hartshead Barlow. That’s what I’ve got in my pocket today.

I'm kind of minded of this sermon I randomly came across yesterdayWe got off without a sermon yesterday. The service was long enough, what with All Saints Sunday and communion.
When I win the lottery, I'll buy the church a real bell. Even a big handbell tolling by itself sounds like an electric sneeze.

Thank you very much Steve, I hope yours went well tooA good one to start off your week. I hope you have a great day buddy![]()
Thanks, Jack. We had a good time. I’ll make that suggestion to Scout for next year.(If I make a chip butty part of the costume, she might be in.)

Micarta, texture, color.....perfect Steve.
I'll do some more tomorrow.I'm enjoying your outdoor pictures![]()
David, can I assume that is some beautiful horn? ( my phone does not show it clearly)
Yes it's some nice Welch Sheep Horn. I don't think it's your phone. It's highly polished and hard to get the right lighting to get a good pic. My photographic skills aren't good enough to capture it.David, can I assume that is some beautiful horn? ( my phone does not show it clearly)

Thanks for the kind comments on my rosewood HHB, Bob & Jack & David.
You do quite well capturing your lambs.Yes it's some nice Welch Sheep Horn. I don't think it's your phone. It's highly polished and hard to get the right lighting to get a good pic. My photographic skills aren't good enough to capture it.
Cool pic of your HHBThanks for the kind comments on my rosewood HHB, Bob & Jack & David.
Jack, those boots fit very comfortably, and required no "breaking in" at all. They are surprisingly heavy, though, and the "waterproof membrane" they contain worked well through the first winter, but I wore them the following spring as I walked home from school during a heavy rain for 45 minutes, and they lost all water resistance.
I certainly do like that lambsfoot Barlow with wood handle. Since I'm carrying it all week, I'll post another photo, with a cap I'll need to pull out sometime within the next month.

The true beauty of horn is always hard to capture, but I think you're doing a good job DavidYes it's some nice Welch Sheep Horn. I don't think it's your phone. It's highly polished and hard to get the right lighting to get a good pic. My photographic skills aren't good enough to capture it.
Thanks buddy, great to hearIt was a great day Jack, thanks my friend !
Great shot of your Rosie HHB !
'Waterproof membranes' used to last me about 3 months when I was doing a lot of hiking Gary, they're a bit of a con trick really, and I'd often rather not have them at all. Here's an old article of mine, looking at them. My conclusion was actually edited to appease the advertisers :rolleyes; It's an old piece, but I don't think much has changedJack, those boots fit very comfortably, and required no "breaking in" at all.
