️. Glad to be back home. NYC was a productive work trip. It’s a fun time to visit but the big city is already getting crowded for the holidays.

Both Matt and his missus were originally born in the obscure Northern English county of Lancashire, which is a thin strip of undeveloped land between Yorkshire and the Irish Sea. Strangely, they are not embarrassed about this, which always surprises me.
Even less people have heard of Lancashire Day than have heard of Lancashire itself. In fact, neither Matt nor Ruth had ever heard of it, until I raised the subject as a bit of a joke. It is coming up at the end of the month, so I have bought them a few Lancashire gifts by way of commiseration.
I'm not sure what stories they have to tell about Lancashire, but I can't see them being very interesting. Opening a page at random, I read, "Can I have a Chorley cake, a steak and kidney pudding, and 3 balm cakes please Mr Roberts? Eee, yi've got a face like a wet weekend in Preston!" I guess they can always use it as a door-stop

More than a decade ago, Tool Man had a boxed Dremel for sale on his stall at £10. A punter offered him £4 for it. I kept my mouth shut...for a while. Then I angrily shouted, "That Dremel is a bargain at £10, and you can £$&@ off, because I'm going to buy it!" I insisted that Tool Man take my money, took the box home, put it in my tool cupboard, and there it stayed!A couple of weeks ago, Tool Man said he was after a Dremel, so I took it back down today, and he gave me by £10 back

I'm not sure about drunk but they were definitely Korean! It's the Astell&Kern A&Norma SR25.
It looks weird in every position except in your hand. When held with the wrist in a natural and comfortable position, the screen is then aligned straight up and down even though the device isn't! It sounds good and natively supports DSD256 (DSD 11.2 MHz) and 32-bit / 384 kHz PCM audio which probably nobody, least of all me, really needs. Maybe I'll grow into it - they say that the phenomenon of the group of self-described audiophiles being nearly exclusively older men is explained by men, nearly exclusively, becoming more sensitive to noise artifacts in recorded sound as they age.
Here it is again and with the lamb I've been bumbling around with today:
