Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks for the wonderful pics Dave  Shucking a hundred oysters is no mean feat, I hope you enjoy them buddy, and that you have a fantastic day :)
Thanks, Jack! I am fairly proficient at shucking. I posted a few pics elsewhere of my friend’s quality oyster knife. It made the job much less difficult than it could have been.

I hope everyone is having a great day :) I've got a whole bunch of deliveries today, one of which arrived before I went to the market - a bottle of Talisker, and a TEW Lambsfoot I picked up last night, for a giveaway  Having got my delivery, I caught the bus into town, picked up a coffee, and walked the rest of the way to the market :) Extremely Violent Carpark Dave was just relating some incredible adventure he had, whereby due to some medication he had taken, he managed to drive to another town, with multiple flat tyres, and has no recollection of the entire incident! Gravel was also already there, and had bought us all a sausage roll :) Harry Hotballs also called by, but didn't have much to say today. I went over to see Nobber Al and Ex-Para Steve, and then to speak to Golden Gordon and Robert the Badge. Contrary to my prediction, the market was quite busy, and it is actually much warmer than it was yesterday. We had more coffee and cake, and the Teds told me about their trip to Scarborough last weekend, where they'd had a great time. Tool Man was having slow-steady trade, but didn't have anything on his stall I found interesting. I decided to take a couple of pics, but was struggling to find a suitable background. Ray suggested I put my Lambsfoot on the tray of the Betty Boop waitress figure he had on his stall. I thought this was a good idea, but on closer inspection, Betty and her tray, was covered in Selotape, like most of the stuff on Ray's stall! 😖 About 12.30pm, Gravel said he was heading off, and I walked to the bus station, to get my bus home. I'm just waiting for a couple more parcels, and then I'll go out to pick some others up from the newsagents up the road

Stay warm buddy and have a great day !

Good morning, Jack and to all the Guardians. Happy Thanksgiving from Mississippi. Coffee again with Charlie’s lamb. We shucked a few hundred local oysters yesterday with the neighbors as our prelude to the traditional feast today. Ate them raw on the half shell, smoked in the Green Egg and grilled with sriracha butter and lemon squeezes.View attachment 3036633View attachment 3036636

Callie the pup is in heaven down here with me as we get to play in one of my favorite backyards in the world. I hope everyone has a wonderful day and enjoys a relaxing holiday weekend in the USA. View attachment 3036637

Nice pictures !

Morning all and happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates. It’s my favorite holiday because of the food, friends, and family. Unfortunately, my work requires that I check in throughout the day and work all weekend.

During free time, I’ll be visiting my brother in law and his family today as he’s cooking this year. He’s big into smoking meats so it should be a great meal.

Great jigging on your Charlie 🐑

Enjoy the feast Hoff, great character on your Waynorth Lamb :)

Been recently out of pocket due to some health issues but slowly getting back on my feet. Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday of mine along with the upcoming Christmas season. I grew up not decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. However, it looks as if most people have their lights up and trees decorated.🎄
I've been carrying my HHB for several weeks now - I had better give it some TLC and oil it.

Feel better soon mate 👍
Cool shot.

Good day Guardians and Happy Thanksgiving !

Just lollygagging with Cassie and my brothers dog Remi today being that we celebrated early. They are in Nashville visting my sister in laws family down there.

Have a great day everyone 👍

I'll look out for that Dave, a good knife always makes a huge difference :)
Great picture Jack, thanks for the report !
Thanks Steve :)

I won't say it wasn't serious, but I've handled it. Just a treadle out of skew in the windmills of my mind.

I've only just noticed that the picture of Jarrow in 1912 shows a cooling tower for a nuclear power plant.
The Spanish Inquisition sketches were some of my favorites from Monty Python! 😁
But my unreliable memory suggested that they were spread out over several different episodes, while recent Googling suggests that they al occurred during the same episode.

Wonderful Brit standing up to the relish Gary.

As to my sick days, I was given a cash reimbursement.
The year before, the retiring teachers were given their previous years salary over 3 years, if they had 200 unused sick days.
Like you I had over 200 sick days accumulated. They were added to my years worked for purposes of calculating my pension. I was happy to have not needed them 🙂
Thanks for the compliment, Bob. :)
And thanks, Bob & Mike, for the interesting (to me) info about sick day policies.:thumbsup:
I'm not aware of any sick day policies during my career. If I couldn't make it to campus for some reason, I'd try to arrange for colleagues to cover my classes for me, or at least find someone to write on the chalkboard in my classroom that my classes were cancelled for that day. (Later, when I could send email to the entire class, communication was easier and sometimes I could even send them a description of activity they could complete in class without me.)

Some days I probably wouldn't have noticed Gary, but it was a day when I was having to visit a lot of sites, about half of which were unavailable :(

I haven't been over to York for a while, but at this time of year it gets packed, so I'll probably leave it until the new year now

Thank you very much my friend :)
...
I have a morning routine that takes me to a bunch of different websites, so I'm likely to run into examples of widespread internet troubles.
Your York comments sound like a New Year's resolution! ;)

Afternoon Guardians. Hope y'all are having a blessed Sunday. Happy trails 🤠

That light-colored wood is very appealing, David!:thumbsup::cool:

Its been overcast and dreary here all day, but I've been watching the KC football game and the sun is shining with blue skies 140 miles to the west. By the time it gets here, if it gets here at all, it'll be dark 🤪
Happy Sunday y'all View attachment 3033643

Very cool grain on that wood, Mike!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Pizza with a side of fries, now that’s living! 😁
I thought the same thing when I saw Mitch's photo. I've never actually ordered that, but I'd LIKE to! 🤓

I hate dealing with leaves, but it is nice to be done. We have a few trees that are stragglers, but I think I was able to wait long enough this year to let most of them fall. (Most years it’s a balancing act of waiting for all the leaves to fall but beating the snow.) I was also grateful that it’s been pretty dry here this fall, so the leaves were mostly dry.
I thought I had finished raking Monday, at least until next spring, but the gale force winds on Wednesday brought down lots of leaves in addition to the snow we got. :(

It was. The Timberwolves’ City Edition jerseys this year are “Prince-inspired,” and for the handful of games they’ll be wearing them, they also have a matching alternate court and special lighting. I’m not really a huge NBA guy, but Julie has become a pretty big Timberwolves fan since we’ve lived here and sometimes gets tickets through her job.
Thanks for the confirmation, Barrett.
My daughter and son-in-law are big Anthony Edwards fans, but he seems too "mercurial" for my taste. I prefer the guys like Jokic from Denver and Curry from Golden State and SGA from OKC who seem to consistently play well without having to work themselves into some kind of emotional frenzy.

This one in London (I believe it was just outside Kensington Gardens) still appeared to be a phone, but that was 8 years ago now, which explains how tiny Eleanor and her cousin Sybil are in there.

Everything looks delicious! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

You had a Channel 11?! :D I think we had just got up to 3 here in 1970
When I was a kid, the television sets had a "channel knob" that I think had numbers 2-13, but most of those channels were empty. I think we had Channel 3 (a CBS affiliate) and Channel 8 (an NBC affiliate) and Channel 13 (an ABC affiliate). There were 3 national commercial networks, distributed through hundreds of local TV stations that usually had their own local programming in addition to network programming. (When I was in high school, we got a UHF antenna and the TV set had a separate knob for UHF stations. I don't remember the range of channel numbers on that knob, but we only could tune in to Channel 35 (a Public Broadcasting System affiliate).

We are leaving immediately after work today to fly home to St. Louis to be with my oldest daughter's family for the holiday. Looks like the weather shouldn't be too cold, so I hope we don't freeze our warmth adjusted Florida butts off! Probably won't post much this week, if at all, but I hope you all have a great holiday.
Have a safe and enjoyable trip, Jeff!:cool::cool:
The weather throughout the Midwest looks quite wintery, especially Saturday and Sunday.

Thanksgiving honey do's today.

That's quite "moody burl", Bob!:thumbsup::cool:
I'm seeing gently flowing rivers, but then I blink my eyes and see a raging horned (and possibly bearded) beast!

I'm having all kinds of difficulties with the set of multi quotes I'm trying to respond to here, so I'll stop this post now.
I hope I can carry the rest of the quotes I saved to a new post that treats me with more respect!

Looking good Gary
Thanks, Jack. :)

That's a peaceful-looking sunrise and back yard, Bob, and the white checkered lamb on the rocks rocks!!:thumbsup::cool:

Had the chance to climb aboard a legendary local boat yesterday. It is a one of one custom steel hull trawler designed and built by a man named Jerry Purdy in 1975. His daughters inherited it and are fixing it up. They cruised down and around the Florida Keys in it last year.

Cool comparison, David! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Some of the meds I'm on cause me to get light headed and dizzy. I think it's worse at times cause of dehydration from the fluid restrictions and the diuretics I'm on.
I hope you get steadier on your feet soon, David; gravity just seems to be getting stronger all the time. 🤓

Beauty, Steve! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

I've not had a great day today, not least unexpectedly re-doing someone's abysmal work 😖 Their boss's thank you was underwhelming, so it'll be the last time I do him a favour  More work tomorrow, and probably the same throughout the week, but for a different outfit at least. I'm sure we've all worked with/for total incompetents, who earn a good wage regardless 😒

Think I'm going to carry my Hartshead Barlow tomorrow

Always great to see your stag HHB, Jack!:cool::cool:

Great news GT  Having an uncurable, progressive disease, the best one can hope for is slow progression 🐢
Thanks, Mike. :) The hematology people told me that only about 2% of people who show the proteins that they found in my blood eventually develop myeloma, so I don't worry too much about it.

I like that second pic also Gary 👍🤠
I like that second photo too :) Blimey, you were on one heck of a hike yesterday buddy :D
Thanks, David & Jack. :)
Jack, my walking was spread over almost 8 hours, so it wasn't so bad. 3 miles from home to the gym, 3 miles while playing basketball, 7 miles round trip from gym to medical center and back, and 3 miles from gym back home. The worst part was some of the trip to and from the doctor didn't have sidewalks, so I was walking through long wet grass and through wet clay at a construction site at times.

Apparently Winter is starting today, in about five hours. I've unplugged my mower battery charger, and as soon as it's light I'll put the mower in the back of the garage and bring the snowblower up. (The battery and charger are always in the house.) Then get some blood drawn, and maybe get my geezer's half price buss pass while I'm downtown. Maybe set up the front bedroom (after clearing it out) so I can sleep in the warmer room. But I have blankets, so there's no rush on that.
I should look into a senior pass for the city bus. I can still get a discount pass through the university where I worked, but it's been more than 5 years since I compared costs of my available options. I haven't ridden a bus since March 11, 2020 when COVID arrived. 😲

Winter arrived here last night , Rain turned to snow and the wind is howling. Winter storm warning in effect.
Good morning Guardians

Winter is here in Minnesota

My daughter and son-in-law from St. Paul usually come visit us either at Thanksgiving or at Christmas, but they've had terrible travel weather at least one way each of the past 4 years. They decided not to come this year, which is kind of sad, but I'm glad they weren't driving Tuesday or Wednesday!

I think this is the cure for everyone's ailments....bubble wrap. This group is banging themselves up.

I myself, went into the trees on my bike.😅View attachment 3035737
I was looking at winter coats online yesterday; I wonder if a bubblewrap cart like that would be warm, with all its insulating air cells.

Wow Barrett, huge effort :) It's great to see those wonderful Lambs from your collection, particularly the ones you haven't shown for a while :) Fantastic pic

What an outstanding collection Barrett.💥💥

Looks like a pretty good Thanksgiving, Dave.

I thought I had finished raking Monday, at least until next spring, but the gale force winds on Wednesday brought down lots of leaves in addition to the snow we got. :(

Snow and leaves together is the worst! We had a few more come down, but not enough to do anything about, and anything on the deck or driveway I’ve already shoveled off with the bit of snow we got the other day.

Thanks for the confirmation, Barrett.

Part of the reason Julie wanted to go to that particular game was to see Jokić play.

We’ve had a pretty low-key Thanksgiving here this year, just the four of us. It’s cold and windy out, so I’m glad I didn’t opt for doing anything outside on the grill or smoker. We had turkey, ham, scalloped potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans with bacon, cranberry relish and biscuits, or as Tool Man would call it, a light snack. 😉

My Lambsfoot for the day was the Rhidian What-A-Lamb.

Here you can show them your medicare card and they'll give you a card with your picture on it (like Costco!), that you can put money on like a toll road pass. And you ride for half price.
No hurry, because I still have maybe twenty bus tokens I bought a while ago in case of I know not what.
In a box somewhere I probably still have another passle of bus tokens I bought after I saw Jim Rockford lose a tail by walking a long way from his car and jumping on a bus. (A P.I. knows all the bus schedules on his patch by heart.)
Lovely Rosewood !
Thanks!

I found this rose in the garage today. As long as I was out there, I thought I'd go after the rose and English ivy that had squirmed in the top of a window. It took some fancy footwork to get to them through all my carefully organized and stored stuff.

I'm learning to enjoy the slow, southern life Gary.

Perhaps you can create a new fashion statement with the bubble wrap.

Sometimes, simplicity is best in a knife.

Hope you had a peaceful Thanksgiving Gary.
