I'm liking with a lot of "Love"s this morning, and I'm still a coward, so Donovan's Mellow Yellow is playing in my head.
There is that Jer!These guys may be in trouble:
I'm glad they're facing it in their neckties.
Good planThanks for the reminder. I'll put a cup of black-eyed peas in water now. (That will leave me enough for next year, too.)

LOL!Good day all. I'm working on some resolutions that I most likely will not keep.View attachment 3063303
That looks dangerous!Look what floated up from my black-eyed peas!

You too PatI hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year's Eve, and may 2026 bring good news and fortune to you all!![]()
I have a favorite slip and lamb with me to ring it in.

A stunning knife for sure JeffMy resolution last year was "no more resolutions." So far I've been faithful. Lately I've been carrying a variety of stockman knives, primarily my 2025 KOTY Schrade Walden 881, but for New Years I've decided to carry my 2024 KOTY, the 1 of 1 Cranberry Relish GL-24. It still humbles me to have received such a marvelous gift. Thanks again and again, to Barrett and Eric. And to all the Guardians, "Have a blessed and wonderful 2026."

Good luck with the lottery Jer, and for 2026I will be approximating the New Year's lucky first meal more closely this year.
According to Cook's Country's Morgan Bolling, my favorite chef other than Jacques Pepin, it isn't just the black-eyed peas, symbolizing coins, but also greens, symbolizing paper money, and cornbread, symbolizing gold. And pork, symbolizing progress, because they root forward for food, rather than scratching backward like chickens.
View attachment 3063342
I thought I was going to have to go out in the winter weather advisory because my cornmeal is white, but I found a box of yellow, so I have everything. The lottery ticket in my wallet is sure to be a winner!

Glad you had a great Christmas BillGood morning Guardians. Just got back home from visiting my daughter on the West Coast. Great Christmas holiday, wonderful food and scenery. However, having said all that, glad to be back home in NC. Got my Blue Rope LF in the pocket to ring in the New Year.

Great to have you here Dave, you've certainly jumped in with both feet buddy!Happy New Year’s Eve day, Guardians! Hard to believe it is the last day of 2024. Finding this group has been great fun for me this year. I’m grateful for all the new lambsfoot blades in my barn of course, but even more so for the new long-distance friendships with all of you. Hoping for the chance to meet up in person in 2026.
Since my collector’s eyes are bigger than my stomach, it’s difficult for me to pick a Lamb of the Year. Instead, here is a montage of some of my flock:View attachment 3063363

Resolutions are made to be broken.I'm working on some resolutions that I most likely will not keep.
Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing wellGetting to the end of another year, and about to embark on the very sci-fi sounding 2026
I always hope for a better year for the world, but am usually disappointed I'm afraid
Still, we can live in hope
I hope you all have a Happy New Year's Eve, and that the coming year is a good one for you, and your family
If you haven't entered my giveaway, there's still time
No big plans for today, but I'll see if Wolfie needs a hand with anything, and maybe I'll even get to give his kids their Christmas presents
I'm having a Double Lambsfoot Day today, with Charlie's spectacular Flat-Cap Lamb, and my 'futuristic' Space Lamb
Have a good day Guardians, and a great evening

Hope everyone is having a good day. I called in the cafe for a coffee, and saw Hisham's eldest son, Ryan, which was nice. He'll be starting school in 2026. I had a hot chocolate in town, and then took Wolfie to get some keys cut. We went for a pint while the locksmith did them. When Wolfie went back home, I decided to eat out, and went for a pieI was going to have a glass of wine, but they only had one red, a Merlot
Think I'll be watching a movie this evening
Have a good one Guardians, and Happy New Year to all of you

That's a major reason I constructed a weekly rotation schedule, Bob.Gary, I did derive some satisfaction rotating through my lambs. It also forces me to use all of them.
It must be a hidden Irish gene in me, I love my taters.

Thanks for the info, Steve, even though it's sad news. From 2002 until a few years ago (2018?), it was illegal to transport firewood from Michigan's Lower Peninsula, which was heavily infested with Emerald ash borers, to the Upper Peninsula, which had very few ash borers when the law was passed. But eventually, every U.P. county had ash borer outbreaks, so the state gave up on the firewood transport ban. Thanks Gary, it's an ash tree which is now endangered by the Emrald ash borer.
That's something this Michgander has never said, Mitch!
Congrats on the great news about Dawn's health, Tyson!Well, this was a good Christmas - I hope so for all of the Guardians as well. Over the last month we had a cancer scare for Dawn, and just got confirmation a few days ago that it is NOT cancer, which is a huge relief. (Most likely candidate now is an autoimmune issue, but in this case that is orders of magnitude better than cancer.) We didn't expect to know until after Christmas, so it was a fantastic gift to know sooner.
Here's the HHB posing with the turkey right before I stuck it in the oven. I threw a few extra pieces of bacon over the top of my beautifully woven bacon wrap, which makes it far less photogenic, but still tasted great.

I see the compass in the stock, but does it have a thing that tells time?
I'd always thought that Ralphie talked about "a thing that tells time" on his dream air rifle because he was so excited that he forgot the word for "clock". I had no idea there was actually a sun dial on the stock!...
It does, indeed. Here’s the uncropped version of the pic I posted earlier.

Thanks, Dave. Thanks for sharing these, Gary! Is that Rudolph reindeer in the first shot a functional piece of seasona art or simply a holiday objet? Nice lambs, too!
Impressive first lambsfoot, Kurt!...
This K’roo was my first lambsfoot. At the time I figured I’d get just one. And waboom before I know it I have a bunch and look forward to Thursday’s Market Report to hear what Tool Man and boys are up to. I have yet to finish the Teddy Boy book.
