I need a nap after my New Year's breakfast, though.*
Excellent plan.
I've got the London New Year's Day parade on. It seems to be all high school marching bands. I thought it was in Grand Rapids at first, because that's where this public TV channel is from.
*I soaked the beans for at least as long as recommended, then cooked them for longer than it's supposed to take, then stood them overnight in their juices in the fridge, then warmed them up on the stove, and they came out quite decent. I added some thick, fruity sauce, probably apple, that I had thought had some pork tenderloin in it, and maybe it is left over from a pork roast.
I brought up some bacon last night to thaw, so that was my pork, and I cooked that first, then some informal cornbread pancakes, which needed some maple syrup, then I wilted some green cabbage leaves in the beans. And had the cabbage and beans over the bacon and the crumbs of the cornbread, So if there's a requirement that the four ingredients be mixed, I'm covered.
I'm going to start taking down my lights. We always did it on New Year's when I was a kid, and although I think about leaving them up until the 13th day of Christmas, New Year's seems like a good time to put them away and move on. Not that it all has to be done in one day anymore.
