Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Cool Waboom, Jack! And congratulations to Wolfe. What a fantastic result and a fine Saturday for you both. We had strikingly different days yesterday! First things first: Here’s a rerun favorite photo that is relevant to the rest of my story from Saturday:View attachment 3120239
As I mentioned, I had the good fortune of being invited to a “Bordeaux Fete” tasting party yesterday in Dallas. Many of the legendary French wine makers, execs / owners or their reps were visiting Dallas from Bordeaux. The lure to get them here was a pairing challenge with food from some of the best barbecue restaurants in Texas. They were pouring some of the greatest wines ever produced.

My friend and client who is the Barbecue Editor of Texas Monthly magazine was tasked with organizing the lineup of restaurants and pitmasters. How could I do anything but offer to assist and share in the fun? It was a hell of a party. Totally overwhelming lineup: one unicorn wine after the next! I took lots of pictures; most without knives. None with a lamb, sadly! Less as the drinking accelerated🍷 😬. Here are a few:View attachment 3120264View attachment 3120247View attachment 3120248View attachment 3120249View attachment 3120250View attachment 3120251View attachment 3120252View attachment 3120254

I would have been happy with any of those fine wines and a piece of medium rare. Glad you had a good time.

What a comparison to my tea and biscuits! 😂 Wow, amazing Dave, I'm jealous! :D I was a wine lecturer many years ago, and kept a reasonable cellar :) Wine was a big part of my life :) Now I'm just a boozer! ;) Amazing to see that oversize bottle of d'Yquem!

Thanks Jack. I hope you get to see the sun soon.
Temps for the next week at night will be in the mid 60's.
Thanks Bob, me too :) At least we seem to be out of the cold temperatures we have experienced all winter (obviously not as cold as some of you folks have to contend with)
It's sort of sad the kroo's blades cannot develop the character of Sheffield lambs.
I know what you mean Bob, and rarely carried stainless blades for a long time, but Lambs like the K'roo, and Eric's have made me think differently again :)

I guess there is an advantage in the maintenance department.

There were FOUR of them, Jack 😱 IMG_9990.jpeg
One of the barbecue joints made a smoked brisket, pork belly and Gruyère panini to pair with the Sauternes.
IMG_9993.jpeg
There was pickle brined smoked fried chicken and pork shoulder steak slices in the opening round, too. IMG_0020.jpeg
Another of the most memorable wines from the night. This tasted right with EVERYTHING:IMG_0022.jpeg

Here's Wolfie's fight from last night  A shame there's some idiot shouting all the way through it (same one as last time)

Have fun at your brothers !

Dave, to say that I was jealous would be a monstrous understatement! Everything looked spectacular, but those 25 year old Bordeaux made my jaw drop.

I hope you saved me a plate! 😁

Once in a lifetime experience for sure. I wish I could have brought everyone along. There was wine left over in bottles at the end of the night, unbelievably. We all ran out of steam due to the onslaught. I am still thinking of this 1989 Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes that a nice fellow (“Sam B” himself) brought to our table and left with us to enjoy with the pot du Creme!IMG_0093.jpeg
