Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Touched up the edge on the IXL and it is going into my pocket tomorrow. I find this one interesting, it has a few attributes I usually associate with an older knife: rough hand peened pins, short bolster, clean and square joint. However, the blade looks fairly modern. I would have expected a stove pipe kick on a knife with the other features?

How on earth did I miss that gem? That is a beauty, Danno. Steal of the show if you ask me. Don’t mind me…..I’m not jealous 😁

I would agree, definitely 20th century. But, when in the 20th century? I showed it to Mark Zaleski at the OKCA show and one of his first comments was 20th century.
I remember someone posting a speculation as to when Wostenholm started stamping "OIL THE JOINTS", but I don't remember what they said or where I read it? Steve SteveC SteveC occasionally posts a very similar IXL.
I did say EARLY 20th century :D If I recall correctly, Wostenholm didn't start producing a Lambsfoot UNTIL the 20th century. I haven't seen that model in a catalogue ( H herder may know better), but it may not have been in one, and as I've said before, Sheffield cutlers often produced the same patterns for decades. A broad guess would be 1930's, but trying to date Sheffield knives without examining them is always a daft move ;)
Handsome Lamb :)
Relaxing at home tonight with Roper.

Cool pic Jeff, hope you both had a nice evening
None of my I*XL lambs have stove pipe kicks

I think this older with metal bolsters

Two excellent examples Steve  I thought it interesting that Dan's example had no blade stamp
Thanks Jack. Things have really picked up here so I don’t check in nearly as often as I’d like to be able to.
Roll on retirement eh Jeremy! :D ;)

A lonely night shift. Made a little fun with my giveaway drawing. Congrats screened porch screened porch for winning the IXL and the other that shall not be named here.

Great giveaway Paul, I hope it made your shift pass a little easier, and that you'll soon be home buddy

Nice to see that one again :) Hope Todd is OK

It's been a hot minute since I've posted in here, hope everyone is doing well. Cosimo's WJ lamb has been keeping me company as of late.

Showstopper, Jeremy.
Very cool, Jack. Never heard of it but I’ll have to look into it. I’m afraid my youth was spent on Thundercats and GI Joe.
Nice!!!!
GL-24 is looking fine, David. Barrett knocked those out of the park with Eric.

Dang. You always got the goods, Steve. Hard to beat an old lamb.

Thanks, Jack. I enjoy doing it every year.

Oh Todd’s fine. We saw him at Badger. I’ve had the notion to ask the mods to edit his name to ExtinctFish64 😂
Good morning Guardians, it looks sunny outside, but I have a few things to do before I can go out - and the cafe isn't open yet anyway! :D I hope you all have a good day :) Slipping L'Ariete in my pocket

Thanks buddy 😁 Much better than spending your youth on the phone/online like a lot of kids today 🙄 I was just in the cafe, and was pleased to see Hisham's wife, and their youngest son, Adam were there. Adam was watching something on a phone, held an inch from his face, and wouldn't move it, or look away from it 🙄

Thanks a lot pal, that's great that you saw Todd 🙂 If you speak to him, tell him his Guardians dues are owing! 😁😉 I hope you manage to get some shut-eye after your night shift 👍

Very nice pose of your lamb Jack. I hope your day goes well too.
Thanks Bob, I hadn't realised it was out of focus (on my PC now)! 😖 👍

Darn internet is playing up again (they told me they've been doing some work, but it's been weeks now, on and off)

The flower is focussed. Very clever statement on the evanescence of life.
(I swear it was a spelling rule when I was in grade school, to double a final consonant before adding a suffix, to prevent lengthening of a penultimate vowel, but spellcheck didn't get the memo.. Erosion everywhere.)

My package turned out to be not worth waiting in for. I was daft enough one of those 'magic' folding stools the internet is currently full of! 😖 What an absolute piece of junk! 😠 I'll be heading back to the post office shortly  Just finding solace in a crisp sandwich and a strong cup of Yorkshire :D ;)

Sorry about the stool, Jack. Half the crap that goes “viral” is usually junk that looks like it was made by a toddler.

I love salt and vinegar chips. Hated it as a kid. Splash of hot sauce and that’s a full blown meal in my books.

Brilliant Jer! 😂😂😂
You know, I think I'll pass the idea along to our chairman/ ceo. It might not help to tell him how feeble we look scratching away at the plastic wrap on the mulch towers, but I can frame it as a safety issue: we leave pools of plastic wrap lying around to entangle our ankles, because it's so hard to completely sever and remove it. Let's take action before there's reason for a general chorus of , "How many people have to die?"

Great pic Jack, lovely blue bells 👍

Thanks Paul

I hope everyone is having a good day. I've been out to the cafe, posted my parcel, and picked up a few things from the local supermarket. I'm back home now, waiting on a delivery, and thinking about having lunch 👍

Another nice pic buddy 👍

I always think of this Bluesbreaker album and never heard of the comic until then.

Sunday evening I ventured out to a show again. Saw Richard Thompson a couple of Sundays ago but this Sunday it was Gillian Welch and David Rawlings doing the Dead’s Reckoning album. I remember going to some of the shows it was recorded from at the Warfield in SF in 1980.
It reminded of a hootenanny. I really enjoyed the crowd especially all the young people who instantly recognized the tunes and often sang along.
And everyone was dancing. The venue is beautiful, an old rock quarry on the UCSC campus. I want to take my niece to see JRAD when they play it. She’ll think I’m cool.

I suspect it might have been Paul! 😱 Already on its way back 🙄👍

Definitely mate! 😋😁👍

Hope he sees sense Jer 😁 I worked in a warehouse for a couple of months as a teenager, and was the only one there who owned a knife 🙄
Great pic Jack, lovely blue bells 👍
Thanks buddy, just on my street 👍
Another nice pic buddy 👍
Thanks a lot Steve 😊👍

Sound like great evenings out Kurt 😎 The Beano has always had a certain amount of cool cachet with grown-ups here, but that has undoubtedly declined in the past few decades. The Beano has changed, and so have British comics in general (not to mention the price of them). Beautiful Lamb my friend 👍
