I hope everyone has had a good day. I had been hoping to get pizza, not too much to ask I don't think, but was thwarted! I'd read good reviews of a small independent place, but they weren't open until 4pm, so I headed there after the movie. The waitress showed me to a table, and ten minutes later, took my order. I ordered a simple pizza, and a glass of incredibly overpriced wine (actually the pizza was overpriced too!). Another 10 minutes later, and the same waitress came back, and told me they didn't have any cheese! How could they not have any cheese for crying out loud, it was before 6.30pm, and there were only 4 other diners, none of whom were eating?! The waitress was friendly, but unhelpful, and so, ravenous as I was, I headed a few doors away to a pub, where I had what is almost certainly the worst chilli I've ever had!

I made my way to the train station, stopping to try and get a doughnut on the way, but the shop I called in was about to close, and had no stock. Back in Leeds, I almost ran to a bar, which used to do good pizza, only to find that they had closed down last week!I dare say Odysseus could relate, when he's stopped crying from having his story re-imagined!

Thanks Bob, I would have loved some garlic bread, but I probably ate too much as it is!Looks tasty, with a well used HHB.
What, no garlic bread!![]()
The place had good reviews online, things can change quickly with any food business. Certainly not a good signIt sounds like the owners of the pizza place are transplants from the old Soviet Union. No cheese early in the shift does not portend well for a successful future.
Plus if my wife picks the movie, I know I will get a two hour nap.![]()
Glad sweet Rosie can enjoy some nice weather.Afternoon Guardians !

Big knife; four inches, two blades, saber ground - a handful!!!
Next to appear was Sheep's Head Dave's missus, sans Sheepsfoot Dave. Her brother passed away a couple of years ago, and she still occassionally brings down some of his old clobber for Boring Ray to sell. Since he wasn't there, Tool Man said he'd hang onto it until next week. The collection included this incredible (and incredibly tacky) pair of shoes!![]()

Good morning Guardians, I hope that everyone is well. Exhausted from my trip to Bradford, I had an early night, and had a wonderful sleep after accidentally taking a Zanex with my evening medication!Apart from my hunt for pizza, and the thrills of the movie, what wore me out was the seating in the IMAX cinema, which is part of the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford. When it was built, in 1983, it was the first in Europe, but back then IMAX films were novelties - and SHORT. Christopher Nolan’s film of The Odyssey, the first feature-length movie to be recorded entirely on IMAX is 3 hours long. The seats in the theatre aren’t uncomfortable, but it is very much of its time, and the purpose for which it was designed, and there’s no room to stretch out your legs. Even before the film finally started, I had been in my seat for 40 minutes, and the cinema was packed. An hour in, I was in considerable pain, which only got worse over time. So, I don’t think I’ll be going back to that particular theatre anytime soon!
Thanks
Quality!
Sounds good SteveThanks buddy ! Sitting here on my deck with a nice breeze and 75°![]()

A kind gift fromThat Marie Sharp’s sounds interesting, Jack. I’ve tried a few of their sauce’s and have enjoyed them, haven’t had that one though. I’ll have to see if I can find a bottle.
Aren't they just?!Those are… really something.![]()
Thanks buddy, I spend a lot of time in their Leeds branch, but while it's considerably larger, it doesn't have any special architectureGreat pics, Jack! I could spend hours in that beautiful bookstore (though, to be fair, I could spend hours in most bookstores).
Same here Barrett, I'm going to watch the movie again with Matt next week, and we're seeing it somewhere that offers greater comfort (and at a fraction of the price). When I was a boy, movie theatres here had seats that flipped up!Sorry to hear that, Jack. I have to admit, I’ve been spoiled by the recent trend towards big, comfortable reclining seats in movie theaters. While I don’t think it’s as bad as the theater you described, I know that the IMAX theaters here still have older style seats (smaller, non-reclining, etc.), presumably to increase theater capacity.
Great to see your Hartshead Barlow Barrett, I love the Pile side characterI had my Rosewood HHB with me today.
