I like it a lot. The ironwood is beautiful, and I think the bolsters look better than the ones on the 2017 horn guardian. Not that those are bad, but the new ones have a cleaner looking groove. I want to finish flushing all the polishing compound out of the works, and cycle through a few more openings before I touch up the edge. (I've found that familiarizing myself with a knife before sharpening helps prevent bloodshed :D) By the time it's got a nice patina established, I might even be able to pinch it open.

Nice one. Congratulations.

Way to go. Lookin' good. Grats
Stunning!
Thanks, guys!

Practicing your Texan, Jack? Maybe this Texan will get his today too. Will know in three hours.

Trying Vince! ;) Hope so my friend, be nice to have it for the weekend

Thanks, guys!

That's good, I'm glad you're pleased with it :) That's the bolster I wanted last year. I think the production ones look better than on the sample. Ashley's done a great job again I think, and 100% done by hand

It's much easier to understand the system if you've experienced it directly my friend, and of course very different to how things operated in the US, and indeed in other British industries. Perhaps the most unusual thing about the system is that, while it goes back to the earliest days of Sheffield cutlery production, it still exists, never having been usurped, even in the days of huge cutlery firms trading internationally. They still relied on skilled, but generally not well-educated men, working according to the archaic 'liver and draw' system, in tiny workshops dotted around the city, and totally untouched by Health & Safety legislation.

Another fine photo there Dylan

Thank you, Jack, for the terrific and thorough explanations. Quite different from what we are used to over here, especially to a relative youngster like myself.

That really is some nice horn!

Thank you, Joshua, it is rather striking, isn't it?

Mail Call!

Thanks go to Jack Black Jack Black for making this happen!

Wow, that is an incredible specimen and you've captured the color and grain beautifully. Nicely done!

So Nice. Congratulations.

Mine won’t be here for a while, but that’s ok. I’ll feast me eyes on the bounty of others. That, and I came across this one which will arrive also next week. It came about because of the conversation here, regarding the dying art of Sheffield jigging. I never saw what seemed to me a most unusual jigging. It’s marked Albert Oates, a firm I know nothing about. The gentleman who sold it from his collection, said the blade was forged. True or false, I knew I wanted it the moment I saw it.

An excellent old Lambsfoot! I will look forward to seeing more of it when you get it in hand.

It’s a very good day. Jack is truly awesome.

Guess I need to get added to the map.

The hits keep coming! These knives are beautiful, every one of them.

Well 13 pages in less than 48 hours. Were a talkative bunch aren't we.:)
Congratulations to everyone whose received their 2019 knives; there a handsome bunch. I've just spent the last hour going "oh that's nice"..."oh I like that"..."oh would you look at that" and variations thereof.
I've sadly already dinged mine, right on the mark side cover to , but then it is a working knife so part of it's eventual character I suppose.
(Pre-ding).

Ahhh so what you call pigs in blankets, we call sausage rolls. I'm not sure how healthy either of them are really but they sure is yummy :D:thumbsup:

I bet she did that on purpose... :D

It's Hathersage Moor in our Peak District N.P, taken off Burbage Edge. I just found out my phone does panoramic shots so lets see if this posts:

The small hill centre left is "Carl Wark" a 5000ish year old iron-age hill fort. The outcrop just to the right right of that is "Higgor Tor". And the escarpment curving round from the right gradually descending into the centre of the pic is Burbage Edge.

After which I walked along Stanage Edge (along the right of the shot).

Literally a bus ride outside of Sheffield; and if you've ever seen the film "The Princess Bride" that area is where a lot of it was filmed.

I don't know about camping by your mailbox. I wouldn't mind emigrating to your mailbox... :D

Wonderful, sweeping shots, David! Excellent!

Wonderful, r8shell! You got a pretty one. Beautifully captured too.

This Texan also welcome his girl home today (maybe you will too, Vince)! Thanks a bunch Jack Black Jack Black ! Now I was supposed to have a stern talk with her for lollygaggin' around Chi-town but... I emailed an annotated pic Jack, highlighting what I think is mine (right side, first set of vertical, left one). Here's a not-too-good-picture on a very gloomy day.

That one is nice and dark with hints of flame here and there. I love it, beautiful knife!

If it looks that good on a gloomy day, imagine how the light banding will glow in the sunshine. I look forward to more pictures!

Thank you. I tried and tried to take indoor shots, and finally braved the sleet to get some outdoor lighting! (besides, the birdbath doesn't freeze over very often, so I didn't want to miss the opportunity)

The same way California beat Texas. :confused:o_O
