I agree - Mitch that’s a real nice looking knife!
Thank you very much, Duncan!!

Very cool pic Dennis, I bet you are glad that you kept that one now, it's a great-looking knife
Thank you very much, Jack!
Yes I am! It's opened up a whole can of worms now! :D
So look forward to the Ironwood, all look incredible!:thumbsup:

I want to finish flushing all the polishing compound out of the works, and cycle through a few more openings before I touch up the edge. (I've found that familiarizing myself with a knife before sharpening helps prevent bloodshed :D) By the time it's got a nice patina established, I might even be able to pinch it open.
My thoughts exactly! :D The open to just past half is firm (reminds me of my sodbuster jr) but the final snap open on this lamb has gusto. And the close to half has me very aware of my left hand placement. No, no, I'm not scared. Really.:oops:

This Texan also welcome his girl home today (maybe you will too, Vince)! Thanks a bunch Jack Black Jack Black ! Now I was supposed to have a stern talk with her for lollygaggin' around Chi-town but... I emailed an annotated pic Jack, highlighting what I think is mine (right side, first set of vertical, left one). Here's a not-too-good-picture on a very gloomy day.

Congratulations! Looks great!

You can request to be placed on the Guardians map. I think there are only two from Texas so far on the map.

That one is nice and dark with hints of flame here and there. I love it, beautiful knife!

I'm glad they're reaching Texas! Beautifully photographed my friend :)

If it looks that good on a gloomy day, imagine how the light banding will glow in the sunshine. I look forward to more pictures!

Oh my that is so beautiful with the super dark contrast. They are all unbelievable.

Congratulations! Looks great!

Thank you all very much. It is quite an honor for me to carry a Guardian knife. I have admired y'all's knives and posts for some time. Great bunch of folks and Chief Ambassador Jack Black Jack Black is tireless.

David magnificent photos and scenery. That's my kind of terrain right there. Great post as always.

Thanks Dwight, and another great shot yourself, you have good skills with a camera. Hope you don't have any more postal upsets this weekend

donn donn Thank you for all the terrific photos and descriptions of the areas in them!

Your welcome

Wonderful, sweeping shots, David! Excellent!

Thank you. And another excellent shot yourself. I'm sure were all hoping to see an ironwood and briar wood double act shortly :)

The company that I worked for manufactured Gears in Carr Hill and Agricultural Tractors in Doncaster . I first went there to review quality issues with gears that we obtained for our use in the U.S.A. and in 1986 we transferred production of a couple of tractor models from the U.S.A. to Doncaster and I was there to assist . My last trip there was in 2003 .
Harry

Thanks Harry, that's really interesting. In fact I think you were one of the folks I was talking tractors to a few weeks ago on this very thread. A long way to go for business, I hope we treated you well

It's has become an increasingly common error David, I'll see if I can find an older map with the two caves marked. Robin Hood's Cave does still exist, but is a little harder to find since you have to walk along the bottom of crag to get to it (though there are easy descent routes fairly close to the Balcony Cave. If you stand facing the crag, it is to the left of the balcony, slightly lower, and about 20 feet or so away, from what I recall. You have to climb up to it, about 15-20 feet, but it's not difficult. There's a smallish platform, with a entrance high enough to walk into, but the cave itself is large than the Balcony Cave (which isn't much of a cave anymore). Definitely worth a visit, but tread carefully, some climbers don't respect the crag as much as they did in the past

Edit - I just checked my Stanage climbing guides, and they are differentiated in the latest edition as Robin Hood's Cave and Robin Hood's Balcony Cave. The short scramble up to the former is actually graded HD, but the start is dead easy, I've done it in the dark numerous times. If you have a Stanage guide it's listed as Robin Hood's Cave Gully (I've always thought of it as a descent gully - it's listed as a Diff in the earlier guide). The guide says: "Out on the left, part way up Robin Hood's Cave Gully, is the legendary Robin Hood's Cave, which has been used as a perfect, weatherproof bivouac site for generations. If you do stop there, and you should if you consider yourself a true Stanage habitue, please respect the place, keep it clean and remove any detritus left by less caring souls."

This is not a good start! That came about as the result of a PM I received, which rather confused me  Thanks Mark

Thanks Jack, that's really interesting , and great directions to. My climbing days are unfortunately over but I'm sure I could manage a scramble up but I don't think I'd bivi in it.
Despite all my walking, the only only outdoor guide I own of anywhere is the Peak District pubs walk guide so that's why I don't have any climbing guides :D
I know which one is my lambsfoot, but I don't know how to mark it. Obviously download the picture but then what do I do? (It's actually the one directly above and to the left of Tmd_87's).
Cheers!

It’s a beauty r8shell! I love how the stripes of dark and lighter run parallel to the knife. Very well matched on mark and pile! :D

Very nice peanutsxx! Beautiful iridescent orange tones mingled with the darker shades. I bet that thing will really glow in the sunlight! :)

Nice looking Lambfoot and some wicked looking Stout there David .
I was always treated very well by the people in the Carr Hill and Doncaster plants . I will always believe that I had some pretty good friends over there . We always had the same goals and had some great times . Was invited to some of their pubs for darts and also invited to one of the guys Clan Gatherings .
Yes , I was treated very well by your fellow countrymen and I even know how to and sometimes make Yorkshire Pudd.

most excellent my friend :p Its a bit of a struggle watching all these beauties arrive, and wondering what mine will look like.;)

The fates are teasing me!! Tracking from Great Britain says my knives have been delivered to the Royal Mail's transportation partner a couple of days ago, which in this case is Canada Post. But the track ends there!!:(
We need @knowtracks on the job!!!:)
Good luck Charlie,:D its most likely sitting in Canada Customs for a day or two. I bet a dollar to a hole in a doughnut you will receive yours weeks before mine. :p
