Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

If you go into any British 'Garden Centre', there's a good chance that you'll find a few inexpensive knives marked 'CK'. CK stands for Carl Kammerling, a German company, who have had knives made for them in Italy for decades. Older Kammerling knives can be of decent quality, but like many manufacturers, their standards have declined over the years. Their current production 'Real Lamb Foot' has been discussed here before, not least because it is not a Lambsfoot at all, and is as cheap and nasty is it gets. This is a slightly older CK Lambsfoot, it's poorly made, with cheap plastic covers, and a heavily canted blade, but still better than the one they make today though. A Lambsfoot made by a German company, in Italy, primarily for the British market

Could somebody take a picture of the ironwood and the AC together. I'd love to see a comparison shot of the size difference.

I took this one Before the Fall :(

Good morning, Guardians!

Morning Vince, your new Lambsfoot is looking as perky as your coffee my friend :)

Well done, good pic

Standard measurement has been so ingrained in me that it’s just what I know, but to be honest, I absolutely hate it. Took me 10 years to be able to look at a tape measure and instantly know which 1/8 or 1/16 I was looking at. I frequently work with materials that are pre-cut in metric though so I bought a Stanley Fat Max metric tape measure and it was sent to me from the UK..... I thought that’s what you all used there? The Egyptian guy at work begs me to give it to him every time he sees it. After using it, I have to say I think it’s a much easier measuring system. But I’ve been using standard for so long it’s what I think in.

Sorry to hear they switched up your notebook!

What torture it must’ve been to walk out of there with only 1. But it looks like a stunner! Great to hear that the fit and finish is looking good. I actaully have several knives on their way to me from Wright’s as we speak....:D

They started trying to introduce the metric system here when I was 10, with varying degrees of 'success', but I still think in inches, feet, yards, miles, pints, ounces, pounds, etc, as well as Fahrenheit. I can convert to the metric equivalent, but I don't relate to it at all. I have to keep a ruler on my desk because so many British knife dealers now give the measurements in centimetres o_O I know a guy who has an inch tattooed on his thumb, uses it all the time! :D

Years ago, someone gave me a piece of advice. Measure your spread hand, from thumb to pinky, and you will always be able to roughly measure something even without a ruler. Of course, you've got to remember what it is, unless you're into tattoos.

I think in regular units like inches and miles, etc. except when it comes to very small measurements. 2.5 mm makes more sense than 3/32".

Speaking of tiny millimeter units, I just got a 0.2 mm mechanical pencil. It makes my 0.5mm feel like a crayon! :D
